i had my vehicle towed to this shop since this was listed as a preferred shop by my insurance. the shop has had a recent incident and at least one of the shop bays is closed but there is signage posted that they are still open regular hours and accepting business. I was contacted on Monday that they would be able to begin working on my vehicle between Wednesday and Thursday. as of today, Thursday, I was contacted by a different person from this business claiming that they had attempted to call me yesterday, but from a personal phone and left no voicemail, stating that the shop is closed and will not be available for work for up to two more weeks. the people aren't even communicating with each other and are wasting peoples time and money. they need to fully post that they are closed to business and tell tow companies and insurance not to bring vehicles in until they are functional again. this is outrageous and a complete waste of the last five days where I possibly could have had it already looked at and addressed at an actual shop that is operating normally and honestly. highly dissatisfied and disappointing. read more

The owner saw the car on Saturday, demonstrated the cause to me in a few minutes, ordered the part and installed it today, Sunday! That is hard to beat. He seems very honest and explains everything. I asked him about any other issues with our 26 year old truck. He pointed out some problems that should be addressed but none were immediate necessities. I requested a repair to fix my running lights constantly going out on me and was told to drop it off and they'd take a look at it. I asked if they could give me quote for the repair and was told they couldn't tell me until they went over and serviced it, so I agreed only to be told they had to keep it as they had to wait on a part...over a week goes by to be told they won't be able to get the part and I could come get my vehicle....they charged me almost $500 to service it and a holding fee even though I was told they were waiting on the part. And to top it all off they didn't even put back together any of the panels or anything they took apart! The lady behind the counter was also very rude ): definitely don't recommend. read more

Just to preempt myself I'm a 50 something guy who has had a pretty decent amount of experience with automotive issues over the years and I was prepared for the worst (transmission going out) on my Dodge Dart)...When I took it to Azeem at Premier (On a Sunday of all days) he took a good look and found some issues that might lead to me thinking I had a bad tranny... however Azeem actually walked me out to my car and show me a few maintenance type things I overlooked which was causing my problem. I appreciate his honesty and transparency in the matter and what I thought was going to be an expensive journey in transmission repair (3-5k) turned into some maintenance type issues to keep my car going for another 100,000 miles. My boyfriend was moving his things back from Bellingham to Olympia on Sunday. We found out we needed to replace the alternator and didn't feel safe driving back to Olympia. Many places are closed on Sundays but I thought I would try to message businesses anyways in case anyone would be available. Thankfully, Azeem responded quickly and told me to call him anytime after hours. His shop normally is closed on Sundays but he was able to accommodate us and help us with ordering the parts and installing it right away Sunday afternoon, relieving all of our stresses. I drove to Mount Vernon from Canada for a family vacation. My front right brake calipers seized 2 days before we were supposed to go home. Brought my car to this auto repair shop. Mechanic told me that the brake calipers, brake pads and rotors on both front wheels need to be replaced at the same time even though the left side looked fine and it was just changed less than 2 years ago. I felt pressured into getting both sides done. He gave me an estimate of just over $800. He also discovered that the driveshaft was failing. He told me to get it repaired immediately, otherwise the car is unsafe to drive at high speeds. He did not have all the parts needed to complete the repairs that day, so I picked up the car to drive it back to my Airbnb. He charged me just over $1700, which included a prepayment for the driveshaft repair even though he did not do any work on it yet. He should have given me an invoice of no more than 110% of the initial estimate and provided me with a new estimate for repairing the driveshaft, according to my understanding of state auto repair standards. I also found it sketchy that I had to prepay for additional work that had not yet been done. I brought the car back to the shop the next day. I was later informed that the entire driveline needed to be replaced, now the total cost is $2800. I asked the shop to not do anymore work and return my car but the technician would not release it because he said I will kill my family and others on the road if I drive it. I didn't get the chance to take the car to another shop to get a second opinion or get it towed. I was pressured to complete the repairs at his shop. He had no legal right to keep my car. The estimated value of my vehicle is around $3000. If I knew the final cost was going to be that high, I would have seriously considered scrapping it. The entire process felt like coercion. I requested a courtesy car to drive my family home. They had one available but it had not been detailed. It was filthy, with dog hair, garbage, dog food, strong odor, with almost no gas in the tank. The steering wheel felt stuck temporarily as I backed the car out, so I asked the technicians as I'm leaving if the car was safe to drive. Two technicians confirmed it was safe. While driving, the left turning signal did not work consistently, the check engine and TPMS lights were both on, and the power window on the driver door was malfunctioning. I later discovered that the right rear tire was underinflated. After I got home, I talked to my own mechanic and his colleague, and both of them advised me that the left front brake calipers did not need replacement. He was convinced I was preyed upon in a desperate situation. Performing unnecessary auto work is not good business ethic. When I went to pick up my car, I discussed my concerns with the staff. He denied any wrongdoing. After a long discussion, he offered a $700 discount, and apologized for our experience. This review is not meant to be defamatory to this business or its employees. I am sharing my experience to help others make better decisions for themselves. While I appreciate the technician's speedy service on a Sunday morning when other repair shops were closed, his genuine concern for our safety, his courtesy car, and his desire to get my car in the best shape possible for a safe trip home, I later realized the business conduct was not in accordance with best practice standards. The only option I was given was to fix the car at all costs, no matter the price. Overall, a negative experience, but I give it 2 stars rather than 1 because the technician was kind enough to chat with me for a long time over the phone on his vacation and offered a discount. However, these gestures do not absolve this business of its unethical conduct. read more

Highly recommend Premier Auto Repair!! I travel in my 95 Ford van, and just as I was about to head to Montana on a Saturday morning it started acting up. While she is 30 years old, she has had many health issues including strokes which have caused some cognitive impairments. If you saw her, you would think she was a teen age. Most shops would have taken advantage of this. Fortunately, kazeem Abbas at premier auto took the time to put her car up and unbolt the barrier and took the time to show her that no damage had been done to the vehicle. The license plate light on my car wasn't working, and I called Premier to see how soon they could take a look at it. They got me in the next day, and fixed it within 2 hours for a reasonable price for the amount of work it required (had to check the wiring and fuses). Azeem is a very nice person to work with. I am absolutely blown away! I was a bit skeptical, but now I know that the reviews that you see here are true. I just moved to Mount Vernon (20July2021) from California with my family. During our road trip to Washington, I heard a noise coming from the front end of my Honda Pilot. Since it is our only car right now, I needed to make sure this issue was taken care of right away. Premier Auto Repair was open on Saturday. Azeem looked at my car right away and discovered the issue. Power Steering. He also did a complete assessment of my car. Found a bent bracket from when I ran over a tire on the 5 freeway a few years back and he straighten it out on the spot... no charge! I opted to have the repair on Monday. Azeem ordered the power steering parts (top quality Honda parts) and drove 2 hours each way pick up the parts in Tacoma over the weekend, so that I would not need to wait long to have my car repaired. These days there is a lack of workers nation-wide; thus, a lack of parts delivery workers. It could have taken several weeks. Guys, I learned that Premier Auto Repair is staffed with top experts in Auto Repair, with over 10 years in business in Bellingham, WA and now extending their practice here in Mount Vernon. I approached this auto repair place with a bit of apprehension, never knowing how I might be treated and what quality of service I might receive for my car. I was going to an auto repair because I had just had installed a third-party trailer hitch that left my 2015 Subaru Forester with a bad rattle -- muffler hitting against bulky hitch frame. Now with a persistent rattle as I drove around the neighborhood, I figured my car had been devalued by $5000! I showed RJ several blog posts about how this issue had been resolved by others -- basically placing space between the muffler and the hitch frame. RJ looked under the car, then popped back up stating without hesitation that the problem could be fixed. OK, but how I asked. He then told me that yes, he was an auto mechanic, but more, he was in fact a fabricator (with a PhD in automotive mechanics), and he could fix anything. A week later I was back where I met Azeem, the owner. He put my car on the lift, pointed to me where exactly was the problem. He shook the muffler and asked whether that was the rattle sound I was hearing. Yes, it was. He said come back in an hour and it would be fixed. 30 minutes later, he called me back, showed me the fix and the now ample spacing between the muffler and the trailer hitch. Then he physically shifted the muffler around to demonstrate there would be no more interference. We took a drive together around the neighborhood to double check the fix -- not a rattle could be heard. I am very happy with the outcome, how I was treated, and the excellent quality service my car received. Now I figure my car had suddenly appreciated $5000! Any more car issues and I will be back.
