My car died on the second floor of the downtown Mount Vernon parking garage. Two tow companies immediately said they couldn't do it. Budget Towing came. They couldn't bring their truck up (to big and ceilings to low) so my guy walked up, assessed the situation, called for back up and they pushed the car around the corner and down the parking garage ramp, then down a block to a side street. Now the truck could load and get me to my favorite repair shop, JP Automotive, on the westside. Thank you budget towing for thinking out of the box and not stoping at "it can't be done." Ok, here I'm going to eat a huge helping of crow. I left a horrible review of Budget because one of their drivers left a huge rut in my lawn. Tonight, I broke a u-joint in my street rod doing a burn out at a stoplight. Ok, I know, grow up.... I called Budget Towing. Their driver arrived, did a great job of putting my car on the flatbed, and also a perfect job if placing it inside the door of my garage. Wow. I was merely looking for the most cost effective tow and not only did I get that, I got what has to have been the best service ever. David was so professional and so kind, and he took care of my car like it was his, despite the towing challenges he encountered. He knew tricks to get the completely-dead car to do what he needed and got the job done. The only glitch, and it's only worth a mention, not a loss of a star, is the dispatcher, Mike, wouldn't stop calling me "Sweetie" or "Sweets," even after learning my name. In today's environment, it wasn't appropriate or appreciated. That said, both Mike and David gave great service and in the event I need a tow in the future, Budget will be the one I call. I needed a pitman arm installed in my Suburban. Budget was able to get me in the next day and quoted me 1.7 hrs. for the install. They assumed the steering box would not have to be removed. A couple hours later I returned to find that they indeed did have to remove the box to replace the part, but charged me the initially quoted price anyway! The mechanic came out and gave me a detailed run down on my vehicle, informing me that I had a hydraulic issue within my brake system. Fast, friendly and trustworthy. My husband broke down on I-5 on the way to a very important appointment up north. I dropped off my car for him to continue on and then tried to find a tow company. I just happened upon this one and luckily, they were very close to where I was stuck. I forgot the driver's name (sorry! it was a stressful situation!) but he was very nice and very professional. Picked up the car, took us both to the yard and then I had my friend come get me. They let me keep the car there until after the weekend when I could gather the money needed to have it delivered to my house farther south -- without charging me for allowing it to stay in their yard. Embarassingly enough, I put gas in my diesel truck at 6:00 am on a Monday morning. I proceeded to google and call everyone under the sun in semi-panic mode. Budget came recommended from a neighboring business, and I was treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism throughout the entire ordeal. Travis came to tow my truck very promptly; he was very personable and I quickly regained my sanity. Not only was he prompt, but he kindly dropped me off at work on the way to the shop. Dave with the auto repair side was fantastic as well. They managed to fit me in on a very busy Monday, and literally saved my day. Well he had called another towing company was suppose to get there a little after I got there to pick him up and they end up calling us to tell us they are going to take about an hour to get there not to mention we waited over and hour . I took my car in to have it checked as I was told by someone at a Jiffy Lube the head gasket was bad. Carl at Budget was very helpful and very nice. Thank goodness it ended up not being the head gasket, but they did change my oil for me. I felt they charged me a fair price, especially when I got out to my car and it had been washed, waxed, and vacuumed! They even did like a Rain-X treatment or something on my windshield! They also gave me a couple of estimates for things they could see would be coming up soon in the future- serpentine belt after almost 100,000 miles, etc. I'm very glad for this and thank them for their consideration. I have to commute to Everett every day from Mount Vernon, the last thing I'd need is to be stuck on the side of the 5. I will take my car to no one else from now on, lesson learned. After the work was done I did some research: They marked up the part they bought 120-150%. Many mechanic websites suggest a markup should be 25-50%. I do not trust them and will not be back. When I talked to them about it, they simply said, "We are here to make money," and refused to apologize. read more

Had a car towed there after accident. They denied access to it and told me I couldn't take things off the vehicle. Even though it's my property. After that they sent a registered letter saying they were auctioning off my vehicle. The insurance isn't even done processing information. Took my Range Rover in knowing it needed a new Alternator and had an engine code showing for the Thermostat. I only wanted the alternator addressed. Received a call later saying it would be over $900 for a new Alternator and Serpentine belt. I almost fainted. When I asked why the quote was so high the man said "well it is a Range Rover" ... That's a fail in my book. I'm pretty sure they quoted me for the wrong part as there are two options available. This wouldn't be an issue except they had possession of my vehicle at the time and could have easily verified that it had the lesser expensive of the two parts. I have no idea what their hourly rate is but I was told the labor alone was over $300. I know that book labor for my particular problem is on 1.5 hours so I have no idea why the labor charge was so high unless their rate is $200 per hour. When I picked up my vehicle I was charged $52 for telling me what I already knew when I pulled in. I won't go back an I will steer anyone I can away from this business. read more
