Cannot thank them enough. We booked two weeks before and they thankfully had a spot for us. They said it would be about 8 days for delivery or sooner. They called to notify me that they would arrive an hour early (great for us since we had packed everything the night before and were eager to get started). They finished packing my one bedroom, kitchen, and dining table in 30mins, packed up the next apartment quickly too. When the move ended, I was stress-free because my expensive mirrors were wrapped professionally. Our new apartment had a narrow stairwell but they handled it like pros and hoisted two very heavy large couches through our window (2nd floor). I had called them in advance to discuss my concerns about the couches and they told me they would take care of it and they did. They have all the special materials to drape and protect the window sill. FYI there is a $50 hoisting fee per furniture which we felt was reasonable. Overall, I am giving Pat and his team 5 stars because they delivered two days earlier than what was projected, which was pretty awesome. They were polite, quick, efficient. I also liked how they are part of a charity called Move for Hunger. Definitely, I recommend them. I tipped them too because moving is not an easy job. Worse unethical, unreliable business owner ever! NH ppl, be aware! We have at first reserved a local business movers to completely move us from NH to TX Jan 29th 2018 a month beforehand to be prepared and all. The company in North Hampton NH Preferred Movers claimed they do weekly long distances from NH to South of USA... the owner Patrick Briemer and his sales guy Zack come to our 650 square feet apt in Hampton to give us an estimate asnd sign contract if we like his pricing on a Friday morning weeks before the big move date. Seems like they are nice guys and all and reassure us that they often do this long distance move and not to worry. He said he will be able to load the truck on Jan 29th around 7am to 9am and have it delivered and unload to our new home in TX around February 8th. We accepted and we started packing and all. Mind you we call at least 3 weeks ahead to plan this. Now let's fasforward this to Jan 24th Wednesday before the big moving date Monday Jan 29th pickup. The owner calls me up and tells me that he lost another big shipment that was supposed to go South with our stuff because our load was not very big. He ends up saying as a courtesy call he will still be able to pickup our things on Jan 29th but will only delivered our things around February 19th..thats if he can signup another household to go South with our things!!! 3 long weeks minimum to wait without all our house belongings 2000 miles away. We were furious! He said he will make some calls to a sister company called Ray the Mover in Manchester NH (another lying and no ethic company btw that's another story). We are only few days away from the move and we have a bunch of our pets to drive cross country for 27 hours and we won't have our things at least for another 3 weeks! We are panicking, furious, disappointed and worried. We tried to call him back the next day Thursday Jan 25th, the following day after Friday Jan 26th to no avail the owner Patrick Brieme and his sales guy Zack never answer or call back. Friday all morning I call all different local movers but with no success due to last minute notice no one has availability to move us in three days which would be Monday Jan 29th. I drove to Preferred Movers in North Hampton 10 min away... and tried to see if the owner was there or Zack his saslesguy. Only to findout that none of those two were there but their secretary. I was upset but remained calm. This is a huge move, a lot of stress and this owner just keep ignoring our calls! I told the secretary about the situation and she tells me: that they rarely drive to TX and sometimes have shipements to FL only but dont believe they ever went to TX! After she called Patrick the owner was ignoring our calls he chickened out didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me and I was standing there listening to his and her conversation. Note to Patrick, man up if you can't face a woman. I canceled our reservation right on the spot and she gave me the excuse that he is having the flu but could still pickup our things Monday and ship it out whenever he finds another big load to ship out with our things! Not acceptable, disrespectful, unprofessional, and unreliable business. After she hangs up the secretary had the audacity to offer me her own husbands phone number to help load our things into containers if we were to use UPACK. She tells me to keep this between her and I because her boss Patrick doesn't know that her husband does work on the side....WOW. What kind of local business is this? Its own secretary / employee is trying to get her own husband some side business behind her own boss back...NO THANK YOU. I left. At last we called UPACK. A very nice man picked up and said they would be able to deliver Monday Jan 29th two small Relocubes to us right in front of our apt in NH but we will have to move load ourselves. At this point we needed to be moved out by then so we didn't care my husband and I would do our own move. UPACK texted me and an agent even called us 1 hour before they delivered the Relocubes. We're there on time no hassle placed right where we wanted them. We loaded both Relocubes to their fullest and only had to click a link and called UPACK and set our containers to be picked up two days later Jan 31st and we didn't need to be present as we were leaving for a long road trip that same morning. Our neighbor downstairs texted us few hours later to let us know the cubes were being picked up on time like UPACK promised us. Guess what, the day before our shipment was dropped off the texted us that it will be delivered guaranteed date Monday Feb 5th!!!! That's awesome. Arrived right on time, nice gentleman came and asked us where we want it to be placed. So it arrived Monday Feb 5th to TX from NH and we unloaded the containers and our cubes were picked up Wednesday Feb 7th without us being present. UPACK WERE OUR SAVIORS. Never use Preferred Movers for long distance move, they are inexperienced! read more

Very disappointing experiences. Did not show to scheduled move at 8:00am , no call, text. I had to track down the owner Pat that then guaranteed they would show between 1:00-300pm...I told him I would find another company and he guaranteed they would show. Again no show. Again I had to track down owner only to hear they would show between 5:00pm & 6:00pm. Guess what no show again. Pat had the audacity to try to say the situation was miscommunication... Not a good move! Don't waste your money. Their price looks good, but you will probably end up paying the same as a big national moving company with a good reputation that treats is customers honestly. Go with a big name if you can afford it, otherwise do it yourself with a rental truck and hire some college kids to help you. We moved from Newmarket NH to St Augustine FL. *After you sign their small print contract that is several pages long and all written to protect them, contacting them is a real problem. They never call back and it is rare a real person ever answers their phone. *They showed up for the move several hours late, without notifying us. *They damaged several items, destroyed an antique table that belonged to my great grandmother, and an antique cane chair. * They move several people in one HUGE truck, which in our case, traveled to Texas in August. The temperature in the truck must have been insane, because it melted the finish on one of my antique bureaus. * The truck was so large it could not turn the corner on my condo road, even through the road was a standard size and could easily fit most trucks, including most moving vans. They charged me 400 dollars because they had to move my furniture and extra 100 feet on a flat level new sidewalk. It added about 15 minutes to the job. * I filled out a claim form for the "insurance" that I paid for, took pictures of the damaged goods, etc. I never heard back from them or got a check. My advice: Get a moving company that has a history of taking care of it's customers, or do it yourself. You will not save any money using these guys, and the aggravation factor is huge! read more

We hired 'Preferred Movers' for our long distance move from NH to FL. Daniel came out to our house and gave us an estimate of the cost for 'Preferred...' to move us... in the end the estimate was 4700.00. I can't speak for everybody, but 4700.00 is a hell of a lot of money to our family. We left NH on Dec. 4th arrived in Fla. On Dec 5th; Our belongings were due to be delivered to us between the 7th and the 14th. It's kind of a convoluted story as to why our things weren't due to be delivered a week later. Anyway, as I write this- on Dec 22nd- we still, after lie upon lie and excuse upon excuse, DO NOT have our things. I am utterly disgusted by the way we have been treated. The owner of this business is completely useless and hasn't a clue about running a business. Now I never went to business school, but I have one the owner Pat is lacking, common sense. I will never use a moving company again, and furthermore I will tell my friends if they are moving and have to use a mover- DO NOT USE PREFERRED MOVERS- out of North Hampton NH. We moved from Hampton NH to Methuen, MA. Worst moving company, expensive, referred by a friend because he liked them but oh boy - they broke a lot of our belongings. They have no customer service skills even, and threaten you when you tell them you will have to give them a bad review. Stay away or have your stuff damaged beyond repair. read more

I contracted with preferred movers weeks before the move. The evening prior to the move I received a text the movers would be there "7:30am -8am". this was good because I would have a walk-through with the buyers of my house at 1pm that day. At 9am the day of the move I received a text they'd be delayed. Hour and half after their stated arrival. My stress level was off the charts! Numerous phone calls brought no comfort. Finally with realtor, texting me frantically and buyers upset the movers arrived at 11:35am. The move itself went okay, minimal damage. The buyers waited. at one point in the move they explained they wouldn't put a table together as they hadn't taken it apart. "Time is money" the mover explained. Meaning their time is money! The customer means nothing. I never received so much as an apology for this 4 hour lapse in which I had a home sale and condo purchase pending. I guess if you want some items moved, they're ok. If you have a time-table or expect human decency this is not the moving company I would use. read more

I had the most horrible experience with this company. Paul the guy who comes out to do the estimate did not give me full quotes, but instead left off the tariffs, taxes and gas fees. He also promised me that my cost would not go above $2,000 to move from NH to PA. What a joke. AFTER they picked up my stuff I got a call where Pat, the owner told me my final cost was $500 OVER the highest quote I got. After spending hours on the phone with them I was informed that they didn't include the above fees, and wasn't that too darn bad. Pat was also extremely rude and unprofessional telling me that it wasn't his problem that his guy told me one thing and that was just too bad that he didn't include the fees- it really wasn't his problem. And since they had all my stuff there really wasn't anything I could do. Not only that, but when the mover (single, there was only one) finally showed up he was over 3 hours late. And since it was only him, it took almost 5 hours to unload my stuff. It was after 11 by the time he left. I was not happy, and I'm sure my neighbors weren't either. As I'm unpacking things I am also finding that many of my boxes are wet. Not damp from condensation, but wet. My dishes are all stained with ink from the packing material and I've had to throw out so much stuff because it's wet and ruined. Four of my china pieces are destroyed, and I'm missing a box. When I made a complaint all Pat said was "the truck must have had a leak." DO NOT trust this moving company. read more

We echo the experience of all the terrible reviews for this company. All of their complaints were things we experienced too. We originally thought they couldn't really be this bad, but when I see the number of bad reviews, that tells me our experience probably wasn't even the worst. First, even before the move, a pool table that we were planning to give to someone else disappeared while these movers were "packing." They at least reimbursed us for the cost when we brought that to their attention. Second, the estimate and the actual cost were not even close - they hold your goods hostage, since in Florida you cannot get them without providing a certified check, which they cash and then never return any calls or emails that we tried to use to register our complaints. Third, virtually every item that we had them move, and that actually arrived in Florida, was damaged, broken, scratched, or somehow not in the shape it was in when it left New Hampshire. Fourth, several expensive items never made it to Florida - we can't say whether they were stolen or broken, but mirrors, glass table tops, a large Raku vase, and several other items we gone forever. We thought we would have better luck using a local company, rather than one of the large national chains - boy, were we wrong. Save yourself a lot of grief and money by using almost anyone else for your out-of-state moves. read more

The person came to do the estimate but then when the movers showed, they tried to charge other expenses that were not agreed upon in the estimate. The movers broke several items including a dresser drawer, a book case, and glasses. They sent 3 movers but only 2 actually worked while the other was on their phone the whole time. The other two movers actually were cussing out the third mover the whole time in front of my wife. Very unprofessional and would not recommend . read more

This was my first time using a moving company for our move from NH to FL. We waited TWO WEEKS to receive our stuff when we were told we would get it within 5-6 days. When we called the office they would never give us a straight answer to where our stuff was or when it would be coming. We were told our stuff hadn't reached the weight requirement, then we were told it hadn't been picked up from storage, then the drivers told us that they didn't even have a driver to move our stuff. They were unprofessional and unorganized. When we FINALLY got our stuff it was broken and our furniture was damaged, and we were missing pieces to our bed and our bed is held up by books currently (I tried to call the driver after he left but he wouldn't pick up). I had to chase down the truck because they forgot to unload my TV, and when they left for good I realized they had given us stuff that was not even ours, that belonged to another family. They also took all my clothes out of my drawers and threw it in a box, I was unaware they would be touching and going through my personal things/clothes. I will never use this company again and will NOT recommend them to anyone else. We left a message with these details and asked for a call back or some compensation for the damage/missing things which we never even got a courtesy call back. It was not worth the money spent... Worst movers ever.. I have moved 5 times during last 4 years cos of my work and this time I came across the worst ever movers. I set up the move weeks in advance with them and they confirmed they will be at my place early in the morning (By 8AM) and then deliver it to my new place my 12 noon next day and also got the confirmation call from them day before the move. But moving party came to my place at 1PM, 5 hours late and one man short for packing. And they delivered at 7pm next day... 7 hours late, with missing and broken furniture. I had to spend 2 extra nights at a hotel with 1 year old infant cos of their late delivery. Two month later I'm still waiting for the missing furniture which never arrived. Driver said they have mistakenly placed them with previous delivery and gone missing WTF? They have lost the nuts and bolts for my infants crib so they could not reassemble it and I had to buy a new one. They charged for the insurance I send them the paper work for missing & Brocken stuff but still no answer from them. Or keep in mind there final cost will be $500 more than the quote....that's right $500 extra. These guys are the most unprofessional and worst movers in NH..DONT TRUST them and STAY AWAY from them. read more

After using Preferred Movers for my long distance move from NH to Florida, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY . I selected Preferred Movers based on Cost, Project Delivery Time line and special content. The on boarding process went very well, with the company being responsive to questions and schedule. Unfortunately, this didn't last long. Let me start with some of the positives, prior to giving you insight into the extremely negative experience. The pick up team and the drop off team were very professional and were communicated well through the entire load and unload process. The team went to work labeling and inventorying the different items. They were efficient and took care of basic boxes and handled the more sensitive items with extra care. The drop off team unloaded and placed all the items in the appropriate location. The 6 person team (3 at the pick up and 3 at the drop off), deserve a lot of credit, as they did their best to address my concerns with the front office. The behavior of the office staff was completely unacceptable, including poor customer relation, poor communication, a complete failure on time delivery. Once they had the deposit and content, the communication was a one way effort. The original delivery date was within the 3-12 days agreement, we they advertise on their web site and stress throughout the onboarding process. However, the delivery was not made with in the twelve days. The company didn't call or provide updates. I had to rearrange contractors at the pickup house and flights home, as I wasn't expected to have to wait and additional 17 days in Fl. These delays and inefficient communication ended up costing me additional charges. Here are some examples of the responses from the front office: * I don't know * I'm working on your paper work now * Your new date is (missed multiple times) * I have to talk to the truck driver * Your on the next truck (it wasn't) * We are short staffed * It's our busy season * I'll call you back ( not consistently done) * Had a cancellation - your on the next trip - I can only image when if and when my delivery would have been if there wasn't a cancellation. * Lack of Responses to emails as well. I reached out to another resource that was helpful in confirming with dispatch, that date the stuff was loaded, and when it would be delivered. Once again, the delivery was not made as schedule (fifth time). There was no proactive communication; I had to reach out again. The communication was there was a problem with the truck and it would be another day. This also didn't occur. Again, waiting on call to determine when the delivery was going to be made end of day or the next day. This once again is forcing another change on my flight back to NH. Even with this complete failure and the delivery completed, I still haven't heard from the main office, which demonstrates a complete disrespect of their customers or at least this customer. All the small inconveniences has added up to additional cost, and frustration. Image if they had been up front and indicated they were running behind and our current time line is running approximately 30 days as opposed to our 12 day commitment. If they had set the appropriate expectations at the beginning of during the overall process, I could have made a decision to make an informed decision. Again, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I hope this review helps others considering long distance movers. read more

Do NOT prefer these people. We were moving from Vermont to Florida. Paul did come to the house and he persuaded us we would be treated best by his company. the movers at the Vermont house were great but that's where any good service ended. At first they gave us a 6 day window of delivery time (thus we spared no time getting to Florida ahead of them) but our stuff didn't arrive for 15 days! Pat, the dispatcher, was not in contact unless I called him, and Paul was no longer the friendly salesman (in fact, very patronizing). The excuses were different depending on who we talked to. Our stuff arrived at 7:00am. with no notice, smashed, broken, squished, dirty, and the movers were surley and mocking as they hurried off wrong numbers for me to check off and delivered wrong items (which they never took back) because all 4 loads on the truck got the same color coding!They had no care or respect to the condition and only put things where we wanted them after asking many times. Moving is stressful and this company was the major reason. Of course, they charged more than was quoted and wanted that money up front. Thanks God that's over. read more

My cross country move went just ok with this company. They missed my delivery window by five days, which was incredibly frustrating. Frustration was made worse because I felt I was never getting a straight answer from them on what was going on. The truck was all over the country before it came to me and they clearly delayed shipment in order to stuff more items on the truck. Only one piece of furniture was damaged (which is good in my experience with moves). The packers did not put the mattresses in boxes or bags, even though I asked for this and the estimate included the service. So, now the mattresses have truck grim on them and need to be cleaned. The crib was delivered with the wrong bottom and has caused big problems. I would say a very average job. read more

I found the company to be very unprofessional. I have moved more than 17 times and never had a worse mover! Never! They injured things and claimed they didn't, they said that I caused them to run late because I wasn't finishef packing when I told them to leave that stuff behind.They said the truck wasn't big enough so we waited an hour for another truck which we never used. They charged me $250 more dollars than quoted and blammed it on me not being packed. They took things I told them not to take to fill the van more. They told me if "they took it apart they put back together" which they didn't!!! They lost parts. They were dirty and rude. read more

We moved on a 90 degree day and Preferred movers worked their butts of for us! They worked quickly and efficiently and their prices are extremely affordable. Do your homework, you will agree. Must agree with the negative reviews below. Paul was rude when he gave me my quote saying "I get what I pay for". Well I don't get anything when you charge $135 an hr for travel and a fuel surcharge of 35$ and 50$ for a box. So I get what I pay for ? Your people to drive around? oh sorry I did get a cardboard box too. Very challenging company to deal with. Had him come out for an estimate and thank god I did saved me a whole lot of hassle just by talking to him i could tell I didn't want to do business with them. read more

I wish I could say that Preferred Movers was great all around, but sadly our pleasant experience with them in NH was destroyed when the driver got to PA. The people hired in NH to move us to PA did a great job, pack and loading the truck. They were pleasant and efficient. But when the driver showed up at our home 10 days later (3 days later than planned), we were displeased with results. The people hired by the driver, were unprofessional, unkempt, and frankly too old to moving large pieces of furniture on a hot rainy day in PA. They damaged walls, and furniture. The driver has said all we need to do is file a claim and we would be all set. It';s been 4 months now and after numerous calls and mailing photos of the damage we have heard nothing from them. Although they charged a fair price and were very kind in NH the back end was awful. I would NOT recommend hiring them for a long distance move. read more

While in the military for over 20 years I moved over 5 times across the country and twice over seas. Combine all those moves together and Preferred Movers is by far the worse experience my family and I ever encountered without question. It started out bad at my old home when pain medication for recent back surgery turned up missing during the packing process. I didn't press charges upon noticing it was gone, which I now regret, but I did notify management "Co-Owner Pat" within 24 hours realizing it was missing. I was hoping that was going to be the only bad experience and let it slide. Hind sight being 20/20 I should have notified law enforcement than and there, but since this company had my property in there truck at this point I was between a rock and a hard spot and gave management the benefit of doubt to handle it. Let it be noted that when you move because the size of there trailer my full house was packed with somebody else's full house moving south too, so you share the move, that I understand. What I don't understand is how my property was received and the overall condition it was in when we received it. To start, when opening up the fragile items that I paid extra to pack properly one of there professional packers packed a 3/4 full water bottle with my flat screen TV, water and electronics don't do well. The water never spilled, but you get my point. My Ethan Allen bedroom set which cost too much was damage big time Four out of Five pieces were dented, scratched, rubbed or broken, all needed to be professionally repaired at there cost, but 4 out of 5, really? There was other furniture that also needed repair due to there outstanding packing methods, but I'll continue. Boxes had been crushed, dented or torn, again from a lack of care and shoddy packing. A missing box that never made it and apparently lost forever had my little girls doll from her Disney trip that Cinderella gave her in it along with other personal item, gone forever. At first it was related that the first drop off accidently had it, but apparently their Preferred experience wasn't too good either so they didn't want to cooperate in finding the missing box. I did mention I paid extra for fragile packing because there professionals, well I should have packed all my items myself for what I received, what I paid for and the condition. A broken Tiffany Style Chandelier and shattered glass of pictures, just to name a few. Remember the part about professional movers that started the packing process, well not so much at the receiving end. Apparently it is common "Management Related" to use people of the street to move you in when doing out of state moves. Our professional movers in South Carolina came from, Craigs List. So they can save a few dollars we got stuck with 3 young men and one young lady that never work for a moving company before, and it showed. Nothing better than OJT on my dime, in my house and at my expense. One of the young men was smaller than the female and if the box or piece of furniture was over 50lbs he didn't have the strength. During the move in process dirty sweaty hand prints all over my newly painted walls, body sweat marks from them falling into the walls, scratched on my newly finished floors, a very close call involving my stair case, a heavy piece of furniture and a possible15 foot fall. I jumped into help out to prevent injury and possible law suit even though I recently had back surgery. When the property was inside my home and after I purchase everyone lunch a big argument in my living room took place involving the four helpers and the driver over there pay arrangements. Swearing and yelling with my wife and I present and it almost came to blows between the two parties. In Closing, to add insult to injury there estimate was $5164, but the final cost was an additional $1400.00 for a grand total of $6541, CASH ONLY! Now the claim process was needed. After numerous phone calls to there office, photo's of damage items, e-mails, faxes, repair appointments and paperwork, a small settlement was reached just so I could close this nightmare chapter and move on. I used this company once, but never again. I wouldn't have them move a BAG OF SAND from my front yard to back yard for free. Moving to a new home is a stressful and very expensive event. If you want to reduce the stress and have your property properly cared for, don't make the same mistake I made by using Preferred Movers. If I can prevent one person from having to go though what my wife and I did that's all that matters now. Trust, Care and Professionalism is all we wanted and Preferred failed in all three venues. Horrible! Expensive! Delivered our stuff two days late (we only moved 70 miles within New Hampshire). We had our plans confirmed days ahead of time, so I cannot understand why they had to deliver late. They should have either told the other people they were booked, or told us that, but they confirmed and then screwed us. We were fortunate that we had a relative we could stay with because these people did not even mention how we were going to get by with no bed, etc. for two days. The crew who delivered broke a light in our front hall. They did not even apologize and pushed past me as I swept up the glass.. One of the guys sat in the truck with his shoes off, smoking a cigarette while another stopped to glare at him. One of our bureaus was severely scratched and they broke the switch on a new lamp. For the price they charged you would think that they packed our stuff, but we had everything packed. The only reason I am not calling this a nightmare is because we were at least very comfortable where we stayed while waiting the delivery out. read more
