I first saw Preferred Tree Service when their trucks were parked for a job in my neighborhood. The way they were organized as a large Team to get things done, I knew they would be the ideal company to reach out to for my own needs. After leaving a message, I was contacted later that day for a quote. The day of the Quote Appointment, he arrived on time, listened to my requests and provided a quote. To further ease my fears, they provided proof of insurance for any potential work-related injuries for their employees - that really helped make me realize they were doing things legally and safely. After clearing a few things with my HOA regarding trees on my own property, I finally was able to schedule them to come do the work. It didn't hurt that their quote was very competitive and especially reasonable. They came today, right on time and got to work after a quick discussion with Steve to confirm the trees/work in question. Steve and his crew are the example of how a vender should treat a customer. They were the most realistic in terms of price and customer service. I had an a tree that no one wanted to remove. I had quotes up to 12k by very well know tree services. Steve came in at half the price. As a result I had him come back and remove all the trees on the property. His crew comes in and just works. His wife Desiree does the scheduling, and is excellent to work with. Steve is a guy that you can trust, and won't try to get over on the customer, totally honest. What he promise, he will deliver on. His equipment is new and state of the art. I totally trusted him and his crew not to damage the roof when cutting down the trees. He was done quickly and no damage whatsoever. We were mostly pleased with the tree work that was done at our home. I deducted one star for two reasons. (1) The owner, Steve, told me (when he came by to provide the estimate) that he would be on the job the whole time the work was being done--and then I never saw him on the scheduled day. Apparently he did stop by briefly (according to his son Robert, who led the crew), but I never saw Steve and he didn't make an effort to let me know he was there or to explain why he wouldn't be around while the work was being performed. This probably wouldn't have bothered me except he made a point of telling me he would be on the job and even wrote it on the estimate he left with me! (2) When the work was completed, my husband noticed numerous areas in the yard where debris from the tree trimming hadn't been cleaned up adequately. The crew took care of the debris, but my husband wasn't happy that he had to point this out to the professionals. On the whole, though, I was happy with the actual trimming/thinning/shaping work and would probably use them again. read more

I had looked for a tree "expert" to take out a huge redwood tree that I planted back in 1993 way to close to the house. I had several estimates and inspections done right before they shut everything down, high estimates! Never felt comfortable with any of them that was untill I called Steve at Preferred. Preferred just completed a job for me trimming and thinning two large trees, and pushing back redwoods that had spread from my neighbor's property onto mine. Preferred arrived a bit before their scheduled time with a crew of six workers, a bucket truck, a chipper, and all the needed accessory tools. The job was completed in less than 90 minutes at exactly the quoted price. My "forest" is good for 3-4 years. Couldn't be happier happier with the service provided.
