Avoid this place at all costs, they're either completely clueless or intentionally manipulative. I brought my truck in because the check engine light kept coming on -- code said it needed a new thermostat. They charged me an arm and a leg for the repair, which I decided to just eat at the time. But when I got the truck back, it was overheating after about twelve minutes of driving, to the point the A/C was blowing hot air. Which it was not doing at all before they'd touched it. I called them up, explained the issue, and they told me to bring it back so they could "take a look." I dropped it off the next day, and they claimed they couldn't find anything wrong. Then they offered to "fix" my A/C with a $300 freon recharge -- which made absolutely no sense. Even though I'm no mechanic, I wasn't born yesterday. When I got back in my truck, I also noticed they'd somehow damaged my driver's seat adjustment controls. At that point I took it to another mechanic in town, who immediately spotted the issue: the thermostat they installed was a cheap, faulty part. The second shop replaced it for half the price and I've had zero problems since. If they want to reply with some generic apology, that's fine -- it's too little, too late. I gave them a chance to make this right, and instead they tried to upsell me on something I didn't need. Either they're completely clueless or intentionally manipulative. Can you leave no stars? I have had my car serviced 3x by this location. The first time was an almost 4 HOUR ORDEAL. They DID allow me to use a loaner car after hour 2. They said it was taking the parts department a long time to bring the oil filter for my car, even though I made the appointment a week in advance and specified my vehicle make and model. They also comped the service since it took to long. The second time still took FOREVER over an hour, again blaming the parts department. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS SPICY. The 3rd time took a somewhat normal time. BUT I ended up with oil dripping out of my car. I waited to see if maybe it was oil spillage from the change left over on the pan. But it continued leaking. I drive a 2019 vehicle and drive like a grandpa. I brought my car in today and they got it on jacks and said "nothing looks wrong". "I had to put 2 quarts of oil in" I told them and they didn't really respond to that. "We don't see a leak and we tightened the bolt on the oil pan." To which I questioned "I thought you said nothing was wrong?" "Well yeah except the bold was not all the way tight" So they brought the car down and I went inside just to cancel my appointment I made later in the week so I wasn't taking up an open appointment. AT THIS TIME THE OWNER Tim Gleason said "yeah this is why we hate doing oil changes. I would be happy if I never had to do an oil change again. We lose money and it's a headache." I will be watching my oil leak situation and have them address it if it continues but I will NEVER BRING MY CAR HERE FOR SEEVICE AGAIN! I thought it was good customer service but it seems they attempt to be nice even though none of this should have happened. Oh well. read more

I have been a customer of this location for over 8 years. I have never had such the worst experience since this past year. My customer relationship started back in 2012- I had my gaskets replaced on my ford explorer. After the work was done and they returned my vehicle to that same day my engine had locked and seized up. Having to have me return my truck back to them. The owner later called me to let me know one of his mechanic must have accidentally dropped a lug nut in my engine causing the damage. They replaced my engine without any cost to me. Since that occurrence and the honesty expressed during that situation I had always went back for years. (one little tip it takes two weeks minimum to place in a new engine.) To Present Day- Now with my new vehicle a Chrysler town and country. Back in December of 2021, I had a new catalytic converter and exhaust manifold replaced. After them returning it to me and two weeks after that repair of the converter, my engine then seized up and the mechanic and owner there acted as if it had nothing to do with the catalytic converter. After placing in the new engine and back in my possession, only a week later my engine goes out once again. This time I was near Firestone when it happened. The owner intervened and wouldn't allow them to work on it. Telling me that they would tow my vehicle back to their shop to fix it. They then had to take my old wiring harness off my old engine and place it on my new one as per the owner said was this issue. So basically I incurred the all the total cost of replacing my engine back in January 2022. With all the costs totaling over 6,000 dollars. for a little recap to remind you- 1st time- catalytic converter- I was out work one full day. 2nd time- engine seized up- I was out of work 2 full days having to wait with it to get towed the next day and leaving work early the day of the occurrence. 3rd time- engine harness malfunction- leaving work early again and waiting for another tow so another day without a vehicle and work. Now to fast forward to June and July of 2022. Because my van has continued to make the same sound like its a problem with the catalytic converter. I went and purchased a membership with FIXD. A scanner that plugs into your vehicle that tells you the codes and issues your vehicle may be having. Having to wait for shipping and the product to reach me. In the end of July I was finally able to confirm yes my van was issuing a code that it's an issue with my catalytic converter. While I was waiting to save money to bring my vehicle to another shop my scanner then issued some red codes that now my transmission is beginning to slip. When I tried to drive it, the engine would sound like a Sputter and in distress. I then said I have to take it in but this time I wanted to try a different shop. On FIXD they advertise that they have a relationship and work guarantee with the precision tune in Roseville. So I slowly Sputtered my van there. Unfortunately that precision tune called the one on lake street asking about my repairs. Then ultimately refused to work on my vehicle and that I have to bring my van back to Minneapolis to give them a chance due to the warranty. Here I thought I gave them that chance when I had to replace the engine. I guess not. Fourth time- Now I am now obligated to have my van sent back to this shop because supposedly they have a new manger and I have to give him a chance. But I have to wait for the owner to get back on Monday to discuss my van who is still the same owner Tim. The Manager said there is not loaners available but I have to have my van sent to them to be repaired. So now again I'm without a vehicle again and I'm supposed to start college classes and work study on Monday morning. I am a single mother with two daughter with no way of not getting screwed over by this ugly patriarchal system. What a crock of shit. If you can save your life the trouble and find a different shop. I wish I would have. This whole situation is completely fucked up. Ps- I might just edit this and add all my receipts to this post. Once I gather them all up so that you all can verify how messed up this all actually is. read more

I needed an oil change so I went to Precision Tune Auto Care. I always get nervous going to get car work done because I get worried about them taking advantage of me but not here! Joe helped me out and he was absolutely amazing. 10/10 customer service. I will for sure be coming here for my any future auto repairs. It was going to be an hour or so before they were able to get my car into the shop so Joe let me take one of the shop cars home for free while I waited for the work on my car to be finished. That way, I didn't need to lyft home or wait at the shop for the work to be done. They even filled my tired and checked the rest of my car to see if there was anything else to be fixed. This place became our trusted mechanic when we lived in south Minneapolis for 12 years. Recommended by a friend. They became our go-to place the first time I came in with squeaky brakes. Blake (Manager) saved me about $300 by just dialing back the indicator (which causes the squeak) and giving me some extra time in the current rotors. Charged me $25 and I became a loyal customer. We moved out of the neighborhood and after over four years and 2-3 terrible experiences with other mechanics, I came back. I stumbled upon Precision Tune Auto Care by sheer circumstance but I am very happy that I did. My battery died out of the blue (post-polar vortex) and as with all things, I had places to be and things to take care of. Not having an operating vehicle is never an ideal situation but throw in winter conditions, no one wants to be without a car. I called my primary go to auto place - they were booked out for 2 days. I called past service centers I've used and received the same message. No one could diagnose and replace my battery that same day. I then used google maps to see what auto places where nearby - not ideal as I prefer to take it somewhere I've been to but beggers can't be choosers. I spoke with Blake on the phone and he initially said they were booked for the day but perhaps it was the urgency in my voice or for whatever reason, he asked how far away I was from their shop. I said literally less than 10 minutes away. Blake said he'd get me in and gave me a rough estimate of the cost. Not only was I there in less than 10 minutes, Precision Tune Auto Care took care of my battery diagnosis and replaced the battery in under 20 minutes! Blake greeted me upon walking in and we chatted throughout my short visit there. I'm not only grateful for their willingness to take care of my car emergency, they did it in such a prompt manner it really left me with a positive impression. If I were to have another car emergency, I would not hesitate to call them again. I'm even considering taking my car there for routine service to try them out. This is a long one, if you don't have time just know that the owner, Blake, was a huge jerk to me after dealing with my insurance when I got broken into. Their service was great but that guy was really a piece of work. I recommend if you're in East Lake go to Saigon Garage because Thanh (owner) has never done me wrong and is always affordable. I only went here because Saigon doesn't do glass. My car was broken into on Monday morning and I needed to get my front window replaced. My insurance company's preferred provider didn't have an opening for four days so I googled this place and they said they could get my car in. My first experience was great, the front desk staff is very nice and explained everything well. I received an email a few hours later with a bill for $540 and called because I thought insurance was going to handle it and I was worried. The manager, Blake, was all right at first, though he was kind of gruff on the phone it was not directed towards me (at first) and it just sounded like he had a thing against insurance companies. He literally kept saying "I've played this game before with them" like they were in some old-time feud. He told me he sent them an email and was going to start working on my car once they got back to him. Even the way he said that was kinda rude though, he said "I didn't even start working on your car and I'm not going to until we can come to an agreement." Did you have to say it that way? No. He told me I needed to call the insurance company again so that's what I did. I am totally new to this situation so I said that's ok, just do what needs to get done. I had honestly been crying all morning because my stuff was stolen and I was in a panic so I just went with whatever was being told to me. When I followed up with him on the insurance claim he said he was going to try to make sure I didn't pay anything and offered me a loaner car, I was really happy for that and accepted. When I got the loaner car the next day I was told to fill it with gas and gave them my insurance and driver's license number, and again the staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful. A day later, my car was ready and that was when Blake started being a jerk. He called me, and apparently he didn't like dealing with my insurance company (which was not my fault), told me he called them but they never called back so he just lowered the price on his services and I had to come get the car that day. He told me I had to pay around $300 and he wasn't sure if insurance would cover it. I was worried about it but I called my insurance agent and they said they could reimburse me. I work two jobs and go to school full-time, so I told him I couldn't make it that day since I had to get to class right after work, and asked if I could come two days later to get my car because that was the only time I could make it work with his hours of operation. He told me I could not do that because I had his loaner car and was aggressive on the phone. He called me at like 2:30 PM and said his shop closes at 6 so I should be able to get there. I don't know about you but most of us have to commute to and from work and I'd already missed a full day of work dealing with this theft so I had no time left to take off early. I just gave up arguing with him, talked to my boss and left work early and talked to my prof so I could come to class late, rushed over there and made it 10 minutes before the shop closed. Even though there was nothing in the loaner car agreement that said I had to get it back immediately after my car was done, and I have never had a shop owner tell me when I have to get my car back like it's a threat. This is the ridiculous part. I turned in the loaner car (to the same front desk person who was still very helpful and would get 4 stars if this review were only about her). While I was checking in with her, this dude called her from the back, probably to ask if I was there yet with his precious loaner car. I kid, I don't know what the call was about. Anyway, she got my car, I left the loaner in the lot, exchanged keys, paid. This guy comes out of the shop while I'm getting into my car, and then when I was sitting in my car in the parking lot, in front of the shop and looking at my phone, he gets into the loaner car, drives up behind me, and honks his horn. For real. He had plenty of space to go around me and I was there for like 30 seconds. I just can't believe what an a-hole he was to me, especially after he knew I had just gotten robbed. read more

I brought my car in with undercarriage /front bumper damage. Here are some things that I really appreciated: - Blake, the manager, suggested that I check if this damage was covered under my insurance in order to get parts replaced, and in the meantime he was able to patch up the bottom of my car with parts that were on it. - The insurance company wanted to use the shop's lift to check the bottom of the car; their shop was fine with that, and flexible to the appointment I made with the claims adjuster. - After I got my insurance claim set, Blake was able to get parts ordered, painted, and on my car within 24 hours. I dropped off my car in the evening, and it was ready by 8:30 the next morning, and they had washed it. - The mechanics identified additional damage that my car sustained, Blake worked to make sure that this additional damage was covered under my insurance claim. In short, I appreciated not just their mechanic work, but the administrative support they provided when working with my insurance company. I went here about 2 weeks ago for the oil change discount coupon for "checking in" here on yelp, hoping to be in and out for a decent price. Wrong. My car was actually taken back right away and the mechanic gave me a break down of cost. Then, after 45 minutes in the waiting room, he brought me back outside to discuss more costs... I know I needed synthetic oil for my VW and agreed to the up charge for that (which also disqualified me for the coupon... The whole reason I chose this place). But he proceeded to sales pitch me a million parts and services I KNOW I didn't need in the most persistent manner. I finally had to bluntly tell him I was strictly there for a oil change and nothing more. He took the hint and finally checked me out. $100 later... Disappointed, will not be returning. read more

Impressed with their quality of work, ability to fit us in (being pressed for time) and their integrity when they disclosed during a routine inspection accidental damaged the brake fluid reservoir. They covered the repair to the reservoir and called to let me know the repair was done (on time). Nice to know a repair shop that puts the customer first and has integrity. I had my oil changed here recently. I also scheduled routine maintenance (waterpump and timing belt replacements). After the work my check engine light came on. I was a little leery of using a new shop that I had never been to before and didn't have a recommendation for but they were really nice on the phone and they were close to work so I decided to give them a try. I was really impressed when I dropped my car off - incredibly nice, professional, and they asked if I needed a ride anywhere. When picking up my car, they gave me a full explanation of what they did and there were no surprises with the pricing. I literally made a Yelp account just to I could write a review for Precision Tune on Lake. It is hands down the best car repair I have ever received. I have been seeing Blake and Eric since I moved here two years ago and the service has always been of the highest quality and fast. My car is pretty old and has required some "major surgery" so to speak; Precision Tune had my car up and running again in less than a day. Their prices are extremely competitive, and as other reviewers have mentioned, I never feel that they are taking advantage of me. In fact it's quite the opposite--they have gone out of their way to provide affordable service. They obviously care about more than just cars here, and as a result, they will have me as a client for as long as I live in the Twin Cities. read more

I had scheduled an oil change appointment. After waiting three hours for a simple oil change my car was finally released to me. I was informed by the service Assistant Manager that all fluids would be topped off as part of the service. Once I started up my car, I received warning lights that all my fluids were low. This indicated to me that they did not check or fill any fluids as part of the oil change service as promised. More disturbing I was informed that my "crank arms were bad and would need to be replaced". As coincidence would have it, I had just had these replaced recently by a reputable garage. For concern of my safety, I drove to another garage to have the crank arms inspected by a third party. The Service Manager at that garage had me come out so he could show me not only were they not in need of repair, he explained what to look for if they needed to be adjusted or replaced. Precision Tune Auto Care inspired no confidence in their ability to provide basic auto maintenance, service, or repair. I find them irreputable, incompetent and neglectful. The fact that they tried to scam me would lead me to advise the public to stay away! read more
