After reading reviews talking about how great Dan is I called him. I had a 1974 Norton Commando I had just bought and wanted someone to go over it and repair anything wrong, replace the turn signals, and a few other things. He said "I dont know anything about older bikes like that so I can't help you." Ok. Strange since everyone talked about how much hey knew about bikes. Could he have someone just go over it? Check the plugs, wires, fluids, filters? No. He just didn't know these bikes, he said. A guy that's been around since this bike was NEW didn't know how to check fluids on it? Strange. It's not like I was rude or demanding. I just called and introduced myself and asked if he could help. "Do you know anyone else in the area that could help me with my bike?" I asked him after being shot down. "No. No not really," Dan told me. And that was that. My only attempt to do business with him was over. Don't know if I caught this guy on a bad day or what, but this experience was a head scratcher. I hope the world is better to him than he was to me on this particular day. read more

I've been lucky enough to go on a couple of rides with Dan over the years and can assure you that he is a great guy.... someone that will treat you fairly and does excellent work. I saw a couple of negative reviews and can only imagine that those folks were people that were either a) very hard to please or b) treated Dan disrespectfully. All that aside, I choose to spend my money locally and not support the big shops where caring ends immediately after they get your money. read more

Danny Wallet and his crew are amazing. Precision has been around for many years, and there is a good reason: incredible service at a great price. While goleta has seen shops come and go, Precision has remained as strong as ever. Personal service is top notch. Unlike huge dealerships which have huge overhead which gets passed on to you, Precision passes their savings on to you. I brought in a pair of custom wheels that needed an expert installer to mount, as they were custom painted. The big shop down the street wouldn't touch them. Danny and Mitchell handles them like a boss with no damage! And, they did it while I waited. Who does this? Precision does! So next time you need anything bike related, come down and talk to these guys. When other places say no, or have sky high prices, precision will strike a one two punch, and knock the other guys down. As an extremely skilled mechanic, I can appreciate the time these guys take on bikes. As a matter of fact I wouldn't let anyone else touch my bike if I'm too busy to adjust valves, or mount tires. For someone with a corner on the market, they seemed wholly uninterested in accommodation or even in taking on new business. Basically, if you live in Santa Barbara, you have one option for motorcycle repair, and when the response to asking for a simple tune-up on an older bike is "Yeah, I'd rather not"...leaves me not only scratching my head why an experienced mechanic would be intimidated by working on an easier/older bike with basic/minimal issues...but there was zero interest in helping problem solve what to do in the absence of his willingness to take on this "difficult" project. Boggles the mind and super unimpressed. I guess if you live in SB, either hope your bike runs perfectly...or hope Precision Motorcycles likes your bike enough to bother themselves with the work. P.S. If "too much work" is your curse...that's an enviable problem. Hire another tech...make more money. Best Moto shop in the Santa Barbara / Goleta area. I have a 98' Yamaha that's carbureted and it had the most annoying idle/fueling issue ever. Dan, took it in on Saturday morning, and ended up fixing the issue by the end of the day. All in all my experience with them whether it's getting parts or service has been spectacular and I'll definitely be returning when it's time to get my valves done along with any other maintenance. 5/5 for being great people that do honest work read more

In my opinion these guys are as good as it gets. I recently moved here to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles and I had a great deal of hesitancy and concern about finding the right mechanic. When I first got to Santa Barbara I wasn't sure where to go for my bike needs and I had one bad experience at a different local shop which I won't name. I have a Super-sport bike and I needed "precise" work to be done. So I continued to search and eventually was referred to Precision. The guys at precision do excellent work, and Even more They actually communicate with you! They're patient with all questions and They are committed to getting the work done right, as opposed to rushing through it. Absolutely horrendous experience, I took my bike in once to have them to do fork seals and check an oil leak on the oil pan and they only did the fork seals and ignored the oil pan bc they said they didn't want to take off my fairings. I was mad at first but then what was I gonna do? I should've done the work myself to begin. It's funny since they wanted to charge me for an inspection. I had another problem with injectors They refused to look at when I told them I think my injectors are clogged. So now I have to tear into the bike myself because when I asked them to flow test my injectors they simply said they didn't have the time to put them on the flow test machine. read more

Bottom Line: Yes - good lord, yes. This is what a motorcycle shop is supposed to be * glowing review alert * Avert your eyes unless if you have a weak stomach for praise I brought my Triumph here with a tire to get spooned on. Dropped it off in the morning and they said it would take a day or two. ok cool. I head back to work and a few hours later they call me and say the bike is done. Same day! I knew then that I needed new fork seals put in as the fork was starting to weep a little on the left side. So i had them order fork seals and brought it in that next week. In some kind of mix-up I brought the bike in a day late but they we were still were able to get it done the day before I was supposed to go to LA - so thank the maker, I didnt have to drive into that hell hole. I could comfortably lane split there and back. This is what a bike shop is supposed to be; quality work, honesty, good price and not a lot of BS (unless you count the "BS'ing" that goes on around bikes, by bikers....) I dont want a fancy reception area, I dont want a hot receptionist (sorry man - yer just not my type) - I want to know my bike has been taken care of and with this place I dont have to guess read more

This is a great shop. I've taken my 2006 DRZ, 1990 VFR, or 2014 S1000rr to Precision for valve adjustments, suspension rebuilds, tires, brakes, or complete revival and they've done it all at a great price and timely period. Highly suggested as the place for any bike you have. read more

These guys are good. If you know you're in need of a service, schedule a appointment and discuss what you would like addressed way ahead of time so they can receive parts and fit you in (I'm assuming you know your bike and do preventive maintenance). For example I needed a rear tire and it took two weeks before I could get in, the front tire I was fortunate enough to come in and have it done on the spot, a few months later I replaced the rear once again and it took a week to get in for the change. Yes it is more than possible you can get turned away and referred to someone else, but that is usually due to preventing them wasting time and more importantly you not wasting your time and money chasing a piece of junk. I took in a bike and was turned away and warned, but I didn't listen. I went elsewhere and spent way more than the bike was worth and it never worked properly and sold it for a fraction of what I had put into it. Be patient and let them do their job. I bought a 1987 scooter off of Craigslist that had some problems I couldn't take care of on my own, and another place in town wouldn't service anything that old. Chris and Dave took it in, listened to the symptoms I had been experiencing. I felt heard, but they also let me know they'd look it all over for causes. It ended up needing a couple of new parts but Chris let me know what my ordering options were, how much it would cost, and when they would have it to the shop. The work was finally done a little later than I had hoped, and I was reaching out for updates, but the quality was great and my scooter is now running reliably! They're very friendly on the phone and in person - I just wish they had an email contact! read more

Wow, real folk who enjoy what they do, so much so they are very busy. I called them after calling the dealer for service on my Ducati, the repairs I needed done was quoted for around $850 at the dealer, and could not be completed in the time frame I needed. I then called Precision Motorcycle Service they too were very backed up service wise and would not be able to finish my repairs in time. However we spoke a little bit longer and Justin came up with a solution that got me on my ride/trip in time, with the service completed. And the cost..$430. I've got to agree with Matt N. I have a number of friends that still continue to go to Precision because options here in Santa Barbara/Goleta are VERY limited, however, it seems like these guys are very biased and picky choosy on what and whose bikes they decide to work on. I called simply for a fork seal replacement and was asked to make an appointment because they were busy. No problem. Gave them my info and as soon as he asked make and model he cut me off and said "we don't work on Harleys here. We only do tires, oil changes and basic maintenance services". I asked "isn't a fork seal replacement or rebuild a pretty basic service?" The man then continued to repeat himself, "yes, but, we don't work on Harleys here. Sorry". at which point I hung up the phone. How can you call yourselves a motorcycle repair shop if you can't or won't do a fork seal replacement? Simple service, I just don't have the time to do it myself. Fine by me, I took my bike to the Harley dealer and got it done in half the time they quoted me and they were happy to help me. Moral of the story, if you have a Harley, don't waste your time with this business. Any other make/model bikes these guys MIGHT be able to help you. Good luck, though. read more

I was a long time customer of Epic Motorsports on Hollister but after they closed in January I was forced to find a new repair shop. I called and spoke with Justin on the phone. I needed my bike looked at before I sold it to make sure it was in good shape. When I brought it in Justin came out and gave a couple good recommendations on things that might need replacing down the road. He also filled my tires with air and adjusted my clutch for me. Everyone their seemed very competent and kind and If I wasn't selling my bike I would make this my new go to shop. read more

Where can I start? Dan Waller, Precision's owner, has been our motorcycle mechanic for almost 40 years and is like family. My dad met him living and riding dirtbikes in Santa Barbara in the early 1980s and has been the only person to ever work on his bikes. Once I got into motocross and enduro racing in the late 1990s, Dan became the only person that I have ever taken my dirtbikes to. He is incredibly honest, precise and creative with his work, has a can-do attitude and is very fairly priced. He goes above and beyond to make sure that his customers are happy and safe when they ride away from the shop after having their bikes serviced. We trust Dan's work so much that we drive to/from the Los Angeles area all the way to Goleta to have our bikes serviced. Not an easy trip but one that is well worth it. If you care about dealing with an honest person that will leave your bike in tip-top shape and knows what he is doing, Dan and the guys at Precision will take good care of you. One piece of advice to the person that left a one-star review: if you care about having your bike serviced by a quality mechanic, don't expect it to be done overnight. This shop is THE BEST! I brought my ethanol fouled 1991 Kawasaki Concours in believing it was going to be a hefty charge do to the labor of pulling the carb set etc. Well, Chris called me the next day and told me my bike was ready. I had figuring many days for ordered diaphragms or carb boot replacements. Chris said that the technician, Dave was able to completely clean my carbs for a fraction of the possible cost and my bike runs perfect now. A shop that happily charges less than the possible cost! Fast, friendly, and is willing to help out. I was on a vacation ride down to Disneyland when my bike broke down. I searched google and his shop came up so I was able to limp my bike over there and lock it up until the morning. First he was open for a little bit on Monday even though the sign said he would be closed. Then after I talked to him and told him my situation he stayed after work and gave my bike a look so we could see the problem. After finding out it was something simple he fixed and at a very good price, even though he could have taken me to the bank knowing my situation.
