Fantastic experience! I went in with my dad to get fitted for a new helmet and ended up also getting a jacket and a Cardo speaker system for my helmet. Gregory helped us out and was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. He took the time to make sure everything fit properly, answered all of our questions, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Fantastic customer service from start to finish. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend asking for Gregory! read more

Returned something I ordered through RevZilla. The first guy said it needed to go back through RevZilla whicb spun me up since both the RevZilla website and Cycle Gear website said I could. Plus I called to check. The second guy was better and processed the return. I was looking for a cool jacket or Honda T shirt but didn't find either and left to unwind. I'm glad he processed my return but the overall energy was dark. Staff needs better training. read more

I always get great service from Tony, he's the best and the reason I go to cycle gear. He always makes me feel like I'm all that matters. I've bought many helmets there, and get ALL my tires there. Cycle gear's policy is 24 hour turnaround for tire mounting , but if they're not busy Tony turns it immediately. I was recently on a road trip and told my GF that if I wait to get a tire I can get the same tire for 100 bucks cheaper than the dealer if I wait to get home to order. Don't ever lose Tony, he's a keeper!!!! read more

My brother turned me on to the Cycle Gear chain, and said they have good deals. We don't have one in Santa Barbara. So I stopped here at the SLO-Town location about a year ago. They had a very fairly priced basic 3/4 helmet (Bilt, which is I think their house brand), from a WALL of helmets, and on sale yet! But they didn't have my size in the color I preferred in stock, so they shipped it for free. Good price, good product, good service. They don't sell motorcycles, and just a few basic parts, but if you want to go for accessories (like the new grips I bought, too), tires, or helmets, or cycle clothing, I recommend them. P.S. Ride safe! read more

Toni the tire tech was rude and lazy no way he could not do my tire today....just plain lazy

Great service from the guys working here! My wife and I forgot our helmets for a trip to Pismo dunes so we had to come buy some and they were super helpful and friendly. Defoe only recommend if you're in need for gear! read more

The staff at cycle gear are truly amazing. I started riding 4 years ago at the mature age of 68. Every time I have been in the store I have had the greatest experience getting all and more of the help I need. Recently picked up a new battery and it was filled for me which was a great help. Thanks for all your support! read more

This is why I should do more shopping online! Somethings never change, I needed some tires swapped call down woman on the phone said yes bring them down. We'll have the guy swap them right after he gets back from lunch. So I load up the tires to rear tires and bring them down. she states Will try to get them after lunch should be no problem. I wait and wait downtown. No call 2 PM show back up at the store story changes. Maybe we'll get them after closing maybe we'll get to them tomorrow! I work tomorrow won't work. Funny how story changes will get right on them after lunch turns into maybe tomorrow this place hasn't changed I calling other local shop. Man says bring them down he has me in and out in 20 minutes I'll show him more business and Start shopping online! Obviously, they don't want my business here at CycleGear read more

Very helpful and friendly staff. I purchased a helmet in Jan 2020. I small piece was falling out randomly, I had been lucky because I had noticed it each time and picked it up, but I was worried one time it would fall out and I would miss it, went by explained what was going on, and they made a credit for another helmet no hassle. read more

Cycle gear is like one of the best places that I've ever been to. It's where I get all my cycle gear one individual I encountered was very helpful. I believe his name is Jeff Gilly very professional knew everything well rounded great direction. I highly recommend this store and if you see Jeff grab his attention because he was the most helpful read more

I am new to the motorcycle world and am finding that gear is the hardest thing to buy. The sizes are so different and you need to try stuff on. So I'm glad we have a local place we can do that and the folks working here are totally fine with leaving you be to find the thing that fits. Lots of helmets, though they are mostly AGV, Shoei, and Bell. They had one model of Scorpion, and a few Arai's. But it's still helpful to find a brand and check a size fit even if they don't have the model you want. Lots of gloves, and jackets. I've probably tried on 20 jackets and still only found one I bought. They do have a dressing room to try stuff on which is nice. A decent selection of boots and sizes too. They do have some parts, but not really much that I'd look for here. Maybe oil, filters, and coolant. Their tire selection is pretty poor unless you want straight street. All Dunlops though which is too bad as I wanted to look at some other brands. I have a KLR 650 and they do not have hardly anything for the dual sport bikes... But for gear and being able to try stuff on and get it when you want it, it's nice! read more

Daniel installed our Sena blue tooth communicators on our helmets and did an amazing job. He explained the system and controls in a very easy to learn way. Thanks Daniel, good job! read more

Very disappointed in their tire mounting service. I've taken a pair of wheels in to have the tires (that I bought there) changed and it took them two days. This morning, my brother went in there after he bought a tire online from Cyclegear's website. First, the guy at the register gave him static because he bought it online instead of in the store. I guess they don't get some kind of commission or credit? What does it matter--it was still bought through Cyclegear! The guy told my brother that he was the only guy there and that he didn't have time to do it. So later this afternoon, my brother stops by to pick up his wheel. When he walks in, there his wheel and new tire sit...in the exact same location as they were when he dropped them off--sitting next to the register. There were four guys just standing around with their thumbs up their ass. My brother said, "Looks like you guys are too busy to change my tire. Looks like I have to take it to someone else because I'm leaving for a bike rally tonight." He said they didn't say a word, and then a guy finally pipes up, "Oh, I'll do it right now." Crappy, crappy service. I've bought parts and gear there, and I've never been impressed with the 'hey bro' passive-aggressive attitude there. It's sad that there aren't other good local shops to take your business to, but there's always great websites like Bikebandit.com, Revzilla.com and motorcycle-superstore.com to meet your needs and budget. If you need to go here, just do it to try stuff on and find your size then order it online. You'll be happier. read more

I came in for a set of Bluetooth mics/speakers for my husband and my helmets. I was greeted and assisted by Richard. A super cool, easy going, professional and caring specialist, who educated me on the product they carried. He helped me find the right set and installed them on the helmets for me! Great conversation and enlightening and personable talents! Thanks Richard and Tony got your help today! read more

I love cycle gear! Back when all the old employees were still there, I used to go all the time with my friends. They were all really nice and helpful. I haven't gone much now though because I hardly ever ride. They have a ton of helmets, jackets, and other gear. Some of the deals are really good too with a discount of gift card they send you if you're on their mail list. Sometimes they hold bike nights that have raffle events. I won a seven zero seven helmet one time and the worker was nice enough to let me trade it in for store credit. Then i used that credit to help buy a Dainese jacket, which is very very nice. Another thing to note is when they say it's satisfaction guaranteed, they really do mean that. I came back months later to trade in my jacket because it was one size too big (after i rode in it for a bit but didn't know they made smaller sizes for that jacket till later on) and went into Cycle Gear to exchange it. The lady just asked why I wanted to exchange it and I just told her i wanted a smaller size. I got a fresh, clean, perfect jacket right away. I was extremely satisfied with their customer service. So again, this place is wonderful. Great service. Prices aren't bad, but maybe you can find cheaper elsewhere. Nice to just be able to go to a motorcycle store and try things on before you buy it. Also great for new motorcycle tires and etc. read more

Where to start.. From the moment I walked in, I was completely taken aback. I caught eyes with this dreamy ball of love they call "Lannden". After long talks in the store, and a few on the beach we have quickly accelerated our relationship and I'm proud to say he still calls me his teddy bear.. But really though, all jokes aside this place rocks for the simple reason of the people that work there. I bought my first bike and walked in there an un-informed Squid. After buying a Dianese jacket, it went on sale a few weeks later, brought the receipt back and got the sale discount. Since I was talked into purchasing Sedici pants and boots, a choice I don't regret. Any question I have had, they have taken the time to thoroughly explain to the point of understanding it inside and out. Oil changes, slip-on & power commander install, and even recently was shown the ins and outs of doing a rear tire exchange. Weekly night rides & monthly Bike Nights (where you can get discount cards ++) are pretty awesome too. I am still a squid, but at least with the help of the guys at Cyclegear I can look a little better doing so. read more

Nate is a lifesaver! Went in to fix a bike that went down and he was very helpful with our needs. He also identified some problems on a couple of our bikes in the group that ended service, that if not checked could have cost us a lot more than a minor fix. Thanks man! read more

Just want to take a moment to say Thank You to Anthony of Cycle Gear in San Luis Obispo, CA. I had clients in the SLO area - one with a helmet issue. One call to Anthony and my client was properly taken care of. I sincerely appreciate the service you and your franchise provided. It should be noted that Anthony was willing to wait for my client's arrival even though closing time was near. Nice job guys. Your shop is now in my 911 rescue book. Nathan and the gang at Cycle Gear are always helpful. They do not try to sell you stuff you don't need and they never pressure you. They are very knowledgeable about the items that they sell. Nathan (asst mgr) at Cycle Gear was AWESOME is getting me the right helmet (SHOEI QWEST) !!! The first one I got had a whistling noise, which he tried to fix and then replaced when it didn't work. The replacement works perfectly (QUIET) and fits GREAT !!! Nathan and the guys are always helpful and knowledgeable. They have never tried to high pressure sell or try to sell me stuff I didn't need. They also are quick to order what you want, if they don't have it in stock, and it's delivered to your door no charge. read more

Well that experience was less than pleasant. Customer service was awful. Walked in hoping to buy a few things. Drove all the way from Paso in fact Was greeted and told they did not have one of the items I was looking for. The employee proceeded to walk in the back and talk with another employee. Asked a second employee for help who just said if we don't have it check online as he walked away from me. As I looked for the first item to ensure I didn't miss it, I could hear two employees cursing and laughing in the back. Needless to say I didn't buy anything and don't plan on returning. read more

We on the Central Coast are really lucky to have these guys in town. You should patronize them whenever possible to keep them here. They are currently under the best management I've seen since they opened their doors. If you ever have any issues then just talked to Tony and he'll make it right. He's a great guy to work with and you're missing out if you haven't met him yet. I've purchased a lot of items from the store from they're tire mounting service to clothing to tires to a communication device that mounts to my helmet (Sena 10c). I was having problems with the software on the unit and he exchanged it without questions. The Bilt gear may not be the best but Cycle Gear has a lot to offer to us motorcycle enthusiasts none the less. read more

My wife and I went in the store Sunday, September 2, 2014, about 1:00 in the afternoon. No one was in the store except the 2 employees. So my visits to Cycle Gear is always hit or miss but every time I go in and Tyler is working and helps me it is a 5 star experience. Tyler is alway very helpful, attentive and friendly. So my review is based on that. The only reason for the 4 stars is lately the store has been a mess and they have some other not so helpful employees. This visit everything was stocked and the store was clean. Good job San Luis store you are on your way to 5 stars and thanks again to Tyler. read more

These guys are fantastic. They are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. My son and I were in bind for parts and called them several minutes after they had closed for the night. Not only did they answer their phone, the took our order, pulled the parts, and waited 20 minutes for us to arrive to pick up theme up. How many companies would do this....very very few. Keep up the GREAT work guys. David L. Arroyo Grande, CA read more

Big fan. I came here to get a new helmet and one of the sales guys was way patient with me as I had a lot of question and was wondering why some are more expensive than others. I ended up getting a Shoei and I love it. I got a discount because I attended a motorcycle training and they give a small discount on one purchase after attending the class. Selection here is decent but not the greatest compared to some supers store motorcycle joints. I'll be back thought. read more

I had expectations almost two years ago of a chain store experience when I got back into street riding again. These people are great, local riders, willing to hang out and sort through discussions of what gear is best and comparing pros and cons of name brand gear versus the house brand, Bilt. Custom orders come through quickly. They have killer sales around the holidays that resulted in me buying the full setup to get back into riding safely and in style. Alpine stars boots, gloves, winter gloves later, insulated underjacket, and a killer Shoei helmet deal on Black Friday just got me locked in and I go back to browse like the big boy toy store it is. Bike night tonight will be a new experience and I look forward to product displays and barbeque and maybe meet more local riders. read more

I rode up from Long Beach California today and found myself needing a new helmet immediately. I went into cycle gear and was totally intimidated by the hundred helmets on display. Melodie did an amazing job helping me pick the right helmet. She asked me a series of questions about the kind of riding I'm doing, what features are important to me, ETC. Every time I go into any cycle gear, I am impressed with the employees' familiarity with the products.Melanie was no exception and was very helpful. read more

Shopping for women's gear is tough in SLO since this place is essentially it. They have a decent inventory though mostly sell Bilt which appears to be affordable but not great quality. The staff is friendly and helpful but you wanna make sure you're talking with someone who really knows the right gear for you. I've had to go back a few times to get it right. Fortunately they have a satisfaction guarantee so returns are a breeze. read more

They don't have the best selection of gear, but the staff is knowledgeable and willing to help out. The girl that helped me was pretty cute and gave great advice, she had been riding dirt bikes for years and obviously had a good idea about the things she was talking about. My parents had just bought a street bike, and the guy that was helping them was able to order what they wanted because it wasn't carried in store. So even though they don't have the best selection and the prices aren't amazingly cheap, they make up for it with knowledge and quality products. I would go back. read more
