I receive excellent service from Dan each time I visit. Most recently he replaced the spark plugs on one of our cars. He got us on the schedule easily, the service was quick, and the price was very reasonable. Dan and his technicians seem really competent, but are never trying to upsell other services. This is just an honest local shop that does good work. read more

Central Coast Autohaus - INDEED ! - Auto Repair Near Me - Los Osos, California

Homophobic and Poor Diagnostician. After 15-20 minutes of actual work to diagnose my A/C issue, Dan (owner), I was charged for a full hour and told the car needed a replacement part and approximately 3 additional hours of work. Estimating the cost at $350-$400 on top of the $152 for the diagnosis and fluids. I was being rung up for this work, and the owner made a homophobic slur. This gay customer was shocked that it had happened, and was too scared to say something in the moment; being in the heteronormative environment of his garage. The next day, I left a message to cancel the follow up appointment; and then, brought the car to another garage for a free A/C evaluation. It was determined the A/C was fine and needed a minor duct shift actually fixed by the other auto center. Shame on you, on both accounts! read more

Just moved into town and needed an oil change in my truck. Took a shot with Autohaus and I'm glad I did! Dan was quick and personable. He replaced a few bolts that were missing on my skid plate free of charge. The price was good. I will be using these guys for all of my future auto repairs. read more

I called for an appointment to get a smog check and fully expected it to be days out, however he had an opening a few hours later, I arrived at 3:20 for a 3:30 appt. By 3:45 I was done, all paperwork handled and he gave me an estimate on some other work my car needs. The shop is very clean and the staff all friendly. read more

My alternator went out on me on a Friday morning, leaving me without transportation at the worst time of having a brand new job. Dan was able to squeeze me in within a few hours and my car was ready to go by Friday afternoon! Dan was so kind and services are reasonably priced as well! Thanks for saving the day!! read more

I am very pleased with the friendly service. All was completed and more. I was there for a Smog Cert, but just mentioned that my air conditioning wasn't working. In no time, after the Smog Cert, he had found the right part and I was good to go. Wonderful, trust worthy and efficient service. read more

I called around to a few of the local auto repair shops to inquire about installing a license plate frame on the front of my car. (A kindly officer stopped me and told me to get that remedied because in CA, the requirement is for license plates to be mounted on both the front and back of a vehicle - so I got a warning) When I called Central Coast Autohaus, I was told to bring my car in, ask for JC, and he'll mount a license plate frame and my lic. plate for FREE! He said it'd take just a few minutes. Thank you very much for the little things that make a lot of difference!!! Within two weeks I scheduled the 100K check up for my 1992 Toyota Camry, and Dan did a meticulous job on my car. He took the time to really check her out from end to end, and found some areas underneath bumpers that were not bolted down properly from a previous detail paint job I'd had done a few years back. He was concerned about doing a great job and the cost to me was very fair. A business with years of professional expertise, honesty, positive customer service, and fair pricing for work done! I'll be getting my car maintenance done with Central Coast Autohaus from now on... read more

Dan is amazing!! He does fantastic work for a great price and is straightforward and honest with everything he does!! I won't take our cars anywhere else! read more

My bi-yearly ordeal with the CA smog certificate reminded me of how great these people are. My current sled is remarkably free of maintenance woes, but the one before required several visits over the years and I never drove away unsatisfied. The smog thing went easy peasy, 20 minutes, they remembered me from two years before, and he alerted me to the sad state of my tires. I HIGHLY recommend these folks, they're real members of the community and truly care about their customers. Also heard the story behind the one trash review, and if I were you I wouldn't let it bother me much. read more

Dan Hunt is fantastic! He's honest, friendly, takes time to explain the issue- and when he fixes something it stays fixed!! I recommend him beyond any other mechanic in the area- I've been to three others. read more

I love supporting local business, especially when they are fast and friendly! I went in to get my car smogged and was in and out in about 20 minutes, and they have a sweet dog roaming the garage too, an extra plus! read more

The guys were great! They got me in and out for a smog check in 20 minutes! Call in advance!

Dan is a local treasure, straightforward & helpful, and his shop does excellent work at a reasonable price.

Excellent value. He did amazing things with my Harley. It's really hard to find a trustworthy bike mechanic and it's important to have reliable work done, as a woman who rides alone. He doesn't normally work on bikes but worked on my bike cause he said he enjoys bikes. My only disappointment is that he decided not to work on bikes anymore. We have since taken our Jetta to him, which three different mechanics couldn't fix. He did. read more

Wow, that was a fast smog check! Maybe because the staff was friendly, it seemed quick. Now, it really was fast. Good price too.

Very friendly staff and very good at what they do they got a nice shop very jealous lol will be returning in the future

I needed to find a mechanic for my foreign vehicle and thought this was the place based on some reviews. I made 5 visits and spent $1400 mainly to pass Smog Inspection. The check engine light kept turning on. After the 5th visit I drove 3 miles and it popped on again. To make it worse I could only get repairs done on 2 of the 5 visits. Either parts weren't ordered or it was an inspection visit only? Finally, spark plugs were replaced on first repair, but after second repair codes were still saying miss fire? So my mechanic actually said, "we should replace the spark plugs." I said, "you just did." He said, "Oh I work on so many vehicles I can't remember every one." He just replaced all of the spark plugs 10 days prior. Bottom line is if you have to go here only work with the owner. They are very nice and so am I, but $1400 later and my check engine light is on and it says "Time for Service on my dash." I finally went to the dealership which I should have done in the firs place. Prices aren't better at Autohaus and knowledge is king. read more

Honest, fair, great at diagnosing problems the first time around. I really like Dan and his staff at Central Coast Autohaus. They keep our cars running well for a reasonable price. I recommend them to any one who needs a mechanic in the area. read more

I have to respond with an unequivocal, stay clear of this shop if you need extensive service to a vw vanagon. Considering it's proximity to go westy I believed service here was a good idea. More than 4 months past before I was told to come pick up van, it was ready. The following week I returned the van to get it properly completed. It never happened and cost me an additional 700.00 and dissatisfaction but hoping for the best. I since have paid another shop to complete the work central coast autohaus was incapable of doing. To add to this when I finally had a chance to wash the van that sat for over 4 months I noticed splatter from asphalt. Asphalt that was applied to central coast autohaus parking lot when my van was there. Did they wash It. No. Was I billed for gas. Yes I left the van with half a tank. The van was being used for at least two weeks by the mechanic, for testing. Customers judge for yourself. I won't go near that shop. read more

Terrible service worse customer service save time hassle money please don't go here half ass work locked my key in my truck didn't hook up my transfer case right half ass screws for my shifter boot truck came back worse in my opinion it works though after a month for just a clutch and flywheel and they bent my key and stuck grease in my ignition read more

These guys worked on my truck--a very minor issue--and did exactly what I needed. No more, no less. That was huge for me. I get so tired of people trying to upsell me and missing the key problem. Dan gets it. read more

We were visiting the Los Osos /Morro Bay area for a short vacation and had an unexpected car issue by the time we reached the region from So Cal. A horrible situation to be without a vehicle when vacationing and really wanting to enjoy the area, and very challenging to get back home. We took our car to CC Autohaus and even though the mechanic, (Dan Hunt) stated they were all booked up for the week, he took pity on us and diagnosed the problem, and ordered the part which arrived the next day and was quickly installed. We rented a car for the short term, but happily got our car back quickly fixed for our return journey home. And for a very reasonable fee. Thanks Dan! read more

We are from Nova Scotia, Canada and ran into car trouble in Los Osos. It is very difficult when you are away from home and have a problem with your car. Dan and his crew at Central Coast Autohaus diagnosed the trouble, fixed it very quickly at a very reasonable price. Their fast, friendly service made the whole experience quite stress less. Thank you ,so very much. Harlie and Betty Johnson read more

In a jam on my way south, Autohaus helped me out. Not a huge deal, perhaps but the cigarette lighter in my '82 wasn't working. Too many days without being able to charge the ever-necessary gadgets.....I bought a replacement power plug (no lighter) at GW. Autohaus was kind enough- or service oriented enough - to fit in the installation immediately. It was a huge help to me and the kind of service that puts them on my "use again" list. read more

I discovered Central Coast Autohaus last spring and have been nothing but happy with my service there ever since. Everyone is great and very friendly. Jeremy does quality work and has been extremely helpful when I've asked him for advice again and again. He is fair with his pricing and honest in his trade. The whole gang really go out of their way to make a good experience. Before finding CC, I tried Certified Auto and Broad Street Auto in SLO and was definitely happier with my experience, the quality, and prices at CC. I highly recommend this establishment to any car owner. read more

This shop...meaning JC and Mary of the Central Coast Autohaus in Los Osos... was quite literally the best, fastest all-around auto services shop I've ever dealt with, and I'm pushing 70 and female. Had to take my ill husband's '96 Miata in for a new tire at the last minute AND they picked me up/dropped me off at my home since I had no one available to drive me back and forth between shop and home. AND Autohaus fixed (again at the last minute) the ongoing air conditioning problem in the Miata. Price for everything was more than reasonable... and much lower than the competitor my husband usually took his car to in Morro Bay. JC and Mary were wonderfully kind to this harried lady in distress on very, very short notice. Needless to say my son needs to drive the Miata to San Diego asap to facilitate our move there in 3 wks.... This shop needs more of us to brag about it; I've lived here for many yrs and never knew how close this great little, full-service Auto House was...special kudos to JC and Mary! read more
