I have a 2005 Yamaha FJR 1300. This is the second valve stem failure I've had after they installed a front tire for me. The first one was at 70 mph on the 58 and the tire instantly went flat and I was hanging on for dear life. The last failure was during filling. I thought the first failure was just an anomaly (I guess not), I will never have them mount another tire for me.

Shoei GT-Air on our way from OC to Sacramento. Emergency stop to pick up a new helmet along the way. Putting SENA system in.

800th review and First! Story time! First off, Nathan was a life saver. We left Orange County on a 5 day, 1,000 mile ride, heading for Fresno, but my boyfriend was experiencing a pressure point with his new helmet (Shoei X-12 Medium). We had to stop and figure something out. We were already 170 miles from home, so our only choice was the find a motorcycle shop nearby and cross our fingers that we could find something that would fit. While pulled over at the Shell station, we found this Cycle Gear only 5 miles away. I called and Nathan answered the phone. He answered all my questions and came across as very kind, patient, and honest. We left the Shell and found our way in. Nathan gave us his full attention and helped us as much as he could to find a helmet that would fit, including letting us try multiple helmets on and leave then on while walking around store, waiting to see if a pressure point formed. Now, our bikes were already fully loaded for our ride, so carrying a helmet was out of the question. Nathan said the they could put the old helmet in the new box and ship it home for us. REALLY?!?!?! Wow. The customer service here was nothing like what we get in OC and I hope some day, Nathan gets promoted and transferred to OC and becomes the regional manger of customer relationships. haha. He needs to train staff of CGs down here on how to greet and treat customers. The store itself is kept fairly clean and organized. Inventory looked good and other employees were very attentive to other customers in the shop. Never see this in OC. If I ever find myself in Bakersfield again, I'll make it a point to stop by and say hello. Thank you, Nathan. You saved our Christmas trip and my boyfriend absolutely LOVES his GT-Air.

Over the course of three service visits, two left me dissatisfied, and the final experience convinced me not to return. I initially brought in my Road King due to a no-start issue. Despite replacing multiple components without success, the true problem--a failed cam bearing that sent debris throughout the engine--was only discovered much later. I had asked more than once whether a full engine replacement would be wiser, but I was assured the bike could be repaired. In the end, I paid over $2,400, with a discount given due to a persistent low oil warning light they couldn't resolve. Still unsatisfied, I took the bike to Antelope Valley Harley-Davidson. After another $2,500 spent and no resolution, I was left with a motorcycle that soon developed a concerning noise. It became clear the more cost-effective and reliable path would have been a full engine replacement from the beginning. Unfortunately, that option was never seriously considered or advised early on. Eventually, I sold the bike at a loss. Over a year later, I returned to Earl's for a simple tire change, hoping for a better experience with a basic service. However, I received my wheel back with a deep gouge. While they did apologize and offer the tire change at no cost, as well as to patch the damage with some sanding and spray paint, the incident underscored the recurring issue: a lack of professional-grade care and attention to detail. To be fair, the staff is personable and honest in their intentions. But in my experience, the work performed does not reflect the standards one would expect from trained, experienced technicians. It feels more like a team learning as they go, rather than a shop capable of delivering consistent, high-quality motorcycle service. I've spent thousands of dollars trying to resolve problems that were either misdiagnosed or never properly fixed. After everything, I simply wanted the jobs I hired them to do completed correctly--nothing more. Sadly, that proved to be too much to ask. I hope others can learn from my experience and make a more informed decision.
