Noticed I needed a new rear tire while on the I5 and definitely would not have made it anywhere other than Bakersfield. Not knowing the area yelp was the only way to find bike mechanics realistically around the area. Scott was able to get my tire off and on the second I arrived and in about 20 minutes (I of course called from the road beforehand). Mechanics had overcharged me and I know of others who would lie about work needed done to get more money out of people. While coming home from an epic desert trip, my loose chain finally gave way and stranded me 5 hours away from home. Although Scott had other motorcycles to work on, he understood my situation and replaced the chain and sprocket in a very timely manner. He even offered me a ride back to the hotel to get my belongings. They were very professional without being stuffy or pretentious. During the short time I was there, the stories and conversations between the R. Tillery staff and repeat customers was highly entertaining and genuine. There is a reason R. I approached Scott on 2/20/2021 about installing a quickshifter on my bike, and he quoted me "around $500.00," and told me to bring it the coming Thursday night so he could work on it the next day. That sounded a bit stepp considering I already had the quickshifter, so I informed him someone else was willing to do it for half that, and thanked him for his time. When my alternate fell through, I reached out to Scott via email to ask if he would like to go ahead with the job. He did not respond, so I called the shop, and the lady who answered informed me that Scott was no longer interested in helping me out. Why? Because I was hoping to save a buck through someone else? The first time I met the owner, Scott, I had barely moved into town and sensed that he wasn't on a sales pitch and was both genuine and helpful. Since then, he has earned more respect and trust than could be conveyed in a review. I literally should be ashamed of the problems that I have brought to him that are generally the issues that me and my friends have given up on attempting to resolve. I've been surprised that he still accepts work from me after I've shown up in the days before a race with problems, or with crates full of parts that I can't assemble correctly. In the end, it has been amazing experiences, at ridiculously fair prices (surprisingly, still charged fair market rates for a service when I know he put in way more time to address unusual problems). And strangely enough, Brea and Nick haven't kicked me out of there either. Support the people that support us. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I don't leave a lot of reviews, but these guys seriously helped me out so wanted to leave them a great review. I highly recommend them. Just bought a new r1 and I was installing some frame sliders and totally messed up the motor mount threads during install and some how got it all out of alignment. They were able to loosen all the mounts and jack it up and get it lined up and get that slider bolt in. Price was very reasonable/fair. Will bring my bike back for sure. read more

This is a shop of sweethearts. I was stuck in buttonwillow with a flat tire and called up R tillery in the morning. I'm a newbie, so I was understandably worried about the outcome and upset about such an obstacle on my first long distance ride. So two lovely young men drove over in a pickup and towed my bike. When we got to the shop, my tire was fixed in no time (the air valve flew off, simple fix) and I was suggested to get the second one done as well to prevent a similar disaster, so I did. I ended up paying $20. Every single person I interacted with was so kind and pleasant. Way to cheer up a girl who freaked out in the middle of nowhere! These guys do all the maintenance on my Japanese bikes. Shop rates are fair and parts costs are competitive. They are racers, so the work is always immaculate. Hell, they didn't even give me crap about fixing something I screwed up out of stupidity. They've also opened the shop after hours for me once so I could bring the tow truck straight over with a flat. They also remember you when you call. I've been to a lot of bike shops and have never met a more experienced and helpful guy. I have taken my bike in to see Scott multiple times (often in emergency situations) and he has helped me out on the spot. My first time visiting the shop I was having trouble with vapor lock and he have me some tips on how to fix it easily at home free of charge. He also informed me of my loose cam chain based on the rattling noise. Being an inexperienced bike I would have never known. My second time was after some of my wiring had shorted out, causing my battery to lose charging capability. I wheeled my bike over to the shop later that night and left it outside for him after leaving him a voice message on the shops answering machine. I got a call back the next day (a Saturday, mind you) from Scott saying that he got my message and my bike is now in the garage and would be finished by the end of the week. The problem was fixed at a really good price. couldn't be happier. Third time visiting was after my chain had flown off and I needed a new master link. I went into the shop after their normal hours and he hooked me up. He didn't have a master link in my chain size, but he was able to grind part of my chain siding down so that it would fit safely until my new chain arrived. I'll be taking my bike in later this week to get my cam chain tensioner replaced. I trust 100% that the job will be done well and timely. I can't emphasize enough how good these guys are at their job. It's good to have a bike shop around that treat you like a friend and not some pesky customer. After being in Bakersfield for only 3 months they already know me by name. Best mechanic I have ever dealt with. Best customer serice I've ever received, hands down. read more

When I was street riding I took my bikes to Rtillery for everything from simple accessories like fender eliminator kits, to full on race parts later when I was racing. I've been riding through California for two weeks. On my second to last day I stopped for lunch in Bakersfield when I gave my Ducati Multistrada a look over I notice cords showing on the rear tire. I was trying to make it to SD, but decided to not risk it driving through LA with a questionable tire. Quick Google search and I found the best. I called and they said come on in and they'll take care of it even though they didn't have a touring tire in stock. Bottom line is they calmly took the bike into the shop while the owner found a tire at a local shop. He then drove me in his car to pick up the tire and back to the shop while his tech prepped the bike. Find that level of service...anywhere. Remember they just met me and answered the call for help from a fellow motorcyclist. $50 and I was out the door in an hour. I tried to give $100 and he wouldn't take it. This place is top notch. I brought in my Whizzer motorized bicycle, after being turned away by several shops, saying that they couldn't/wouldn't work on it because they didn't specialize in Whizzer's and if they didn't have it in their computer then they didn't want to attempt fixing it. Scott was hesitant to take it on himself due to his other mechanic being out but knew I was in a bind so he took it off my hands and told me he charges by the hour, $90.00 an hour. He explained to me that he couldn't make any promises but he would try to get it running and he would keep my wallet in mind. I left semi hopeful but not expecting Scott to figure it out. I get a phone call the next day from Scott informing me that my bike was ready to be picked up. He had adjusted my back wheel for the tension on the belt to engage better and he had only spent about 20-25 mins fixing the bike and he told me my total was going to be $30.00. What?!? That incredible! To say that I was surprised and blown away was an understatement. This shop has a customer for life. The staff was friendly and accommodating and very professional on check out. Those of you who live in Bakersfield, count yourselves blessed to have a motorcycle shop of this caliber nearby. I was on my way from Northern California to Southern California when I had the unfortunate experience of a major engine malfunction in my motorcycle. Thankfully, I called Scott, the owner of this fine astonishment. He told me that he would take a look at my problem right away. After spending about three hours trying to diagnose the problem personally, he finally told me that he would not be able to get it done that day. So I rented a car and continued my journey south. He called me a few hours later, hours after they had closed the shop and told me that he had stayed late, diagnosed and fixed the problem. I turned around and drove back to Bakersfield where he met me at the rental car lot so I could drop off the car. He then drove me back to his shop where I test rode the motorcycle to find it running better than it had been in a long time. Then on top of everything else he discounted his labor rate to offset the cost of having to rent the vehicle. Whether you are finding yourself in my situation or have the privilege of living close enough to call this your home repair shop, do yourself a huge favor and get anything you need done on your motorcycle done here. Scott is not only honest and competent he is fair and caring too. It is extremely rare to find this level of quality and service at any motorcycle shop.
