I took bids from 4 vendors, including Costco, and they were the cheapest. Not only were they the cheapest, they were also the most thorough. The bid and design process for the doors was very detailed, the rep went through the plus and minuses of each door, insulation levels and overall costs. They were also easy to get in hold of, notified me when the doors were arriving and then on time when they said they were going to be here. The only thing missed was found when I was programming the unit to the phone. They missed connecting the power back-up to one of two garage door openers. We have a 31-year-old house, which is right at that age where it still looks pretty new, but some of the systems and gadgets inside are in fact getting pretty old. We've been steadily checking off the due (if not overdue) maintenance around here, and we've had to fix different aspects of the garage doors at different times. Garage door openers only do one thing. You'd think they have only a couple parts, maybe a few at the most. You might be surprised how many different things can wear out on 'em. We've fixed the rollers, the lifters, the remotes, and now the wall switches. Precision has been out in the past for a fix or two, and I've dealt with a couple other companies at different times. Precision is shaping up as the best of the bunch. Two weeks ago, the garage doors started going up and down on their own at random times, often going only partway up or partway down, sometimes changing their minds mid-stream. Clearly a safety issue. Precision seemed like my favorite garage door company, at least that's what I thought I remembered, and so here we are actually writing all this down so I don't forget in the future. Best of all, I had two glorious weeks off work this time, so I could kinda pay better attention to what the tech did. One courtesy I loved--they texted and emailed when he was on the way, including his work profile pic, so I'd know who he was. I'm a big dude who can take care of himself, and even I appreciated this wholeheartedly. Feels better having a dude rummaging around in your garage with that level of vouchsafe behind him. He diagnosed the problem quickly and asked it was okay to replace the wall switches. He had the parts in his truck, which were a massive upgrade over the 15+-year-old switches we got when we bought the house. It took him 10 minutes to install them. (That seems pretty standard, but, still--the quicker the fix, the better, as long as it's done right). Now, we've had problems with random openings and closings before. We live close to Paine Field, and all the RF signal bouncing around there is known to mess with openers. That seems valid enough to me. But in this case, the switches were old and worn, and were starting to send bad signal to the lifters. Dude fixed the problem completely from what I can see. He was easy to talk to the whole time, never complained about the mess in the corner of the garage where he had to work (he even pretended not to notice it), and took payment in just a couple minutes, via credit card. Then they said they want another $1200 to finish the job. That's a ripoff and trickery with the double billing. I said no problem, he called agin said be there in a few hours, and then got call hour later from the company that they have to cancel for today. I called back later and asked if they could still come the next day. They agreed He showed up and replaced a bent J arm. He said it should be tuned up too. So $89.00 for tune up, tighten all the bolts on the door snd lube the wheels & chain. Replaced one hinge for $39.00 (same hinge at Home Depot $4.00) Charged $89.00 for service call, just to show up. Charged $139.00 for part & labor to fix j arm. (J arm $17.00 at Home Depot) So Precision door charged me $390 including parts, labor & tax. I was expecting $200 at most. $89 for service cell including the tune up and maybe $75 more for parts and labor. Most upsetting is waiting three days when they typically offer same day or next day service. Price was too much for the work completed in my opinion. read more

I've been waiting 3 months for this company to finish the install of a single door opener. They couldn't put in the manual lock or release for opening without power or if the remote is missing. They said it was on back order and of course its different from all other openers requiring a special adapter and comes from Germany. So far I've been locked out three times because of power or missing remote issues. Which means someone has to come out and disassemble the door from the bottom in order to get inside and open. This means my car is trapped inside, i have to call an expensive lyft to go to work or anywhere. Plus they take days to come out and open it. I also don't know why they couldn't install an outdoor keypad like everyone else i know has. I know there are supply chain issues, but three months is ridiculous, and if the power goes out or the opener fails (that's already happened once) I'm stuck. And before someone says "just use the lock in the door" or to use a coat hanger to snag and pull the release, It doesn't have a physical lock, because they still haven't installed it, and the coat hanger doesn't work on this unit, as the release pulls in the direction away from the door. read more

BEWARE! This review is pending company response. I had my garage door falling apart so I called Precision garage door out of Woodenville. My neighbors had used them and their work looked good and yelp looked good so I said let's do it. On the day of installation I thought I should check to verify they had the correct windows, but that panel was stacked at the bottom so I had to wait until it was installed to see them. Up and down it worked well and looked good on a first impression so I signed off and the installer left. A minute later I showed my daughter the beautiful new door, but wait!! There is a significant dent in the door under one of the windows! I called and sent a photo immediately and the office said they would order a new window panel and replace it. Two weeks later the door opener button inside the garage stopped working right too. So I called to see about the panel and tell them how the button was not working right. I was told I'd have to pay a $115 service fee for someone to come out... when a component failed after two weeks?! And someone is suppose to call me about the panel order. Which I had already been told two weeks previously. This was not a cheap door/ installation but so far, it seems Precision was the wrong company to go with. Quickly, they had a response and sent another technician to our home the following day to help us resolve the issue. He changed several key parts (the failure most likely is one of the parts) to ensure they will get the failure fixed without charging us. They also took the old logical board (replaced) back to company to invest the failure. So far it does not fail again. Took 2 months to get my garage door fixed, terrible customer service, no communication, and even when we scheduled to get my door FINALLY fixed after 2 months they no call no showed and rescheduled without even asking me what time they should be there. I had 2-3 phone calls I made to get status updates where the service agent said "let me look into that Ile call you back later this afternoon". Then silence until i called back again next day. I've had some bad contractor experiences and this was probably the worst. Here's the issues I had: 1. We submitted a request through our warranty company on 6/2. They notified Precision company that day and we were supposed to receive a call within 48 hours. Not only did we not receive that call, but my wife spent the next 18 days calling 5 times and leaving voicemails without a single one returned. Finally we got a call back on 6/21, 19 days later. 2. The technician that came out spent half of the visit trying to explain to me what our contract covered. This is not his job and was a particularly bad look because he was incorrect about our specific contract's coverage (for one example: he said our springs weren't covered and that normal wear and tear weren't covered and then when I showed him our contract clearly stating the opposite he just doubled down) . 3. He changed his diagnosis on each of our garage door issues a handful of times. To give just one example: throughout the visit our garage door not closing all the way was a track issue, a spring/hinge/roller issue, or a limit switch issue. Each of these components was 'actually working properly', 'bad', 'needed repair', or was 'broken' throughout the conversation as well, depending upon when you asked him. He was clear that he believes a garage door that doesn't open all the way or close all the way is still considered 'working properly'. He went as far as to say, when pressed, that if it could only open halfway he'd still consider it 'working properly'. 4. After he waffled on his diagnosis and wording for the fifth time, I brought out my computer, asked him for a concise diagnosis, and began typing in his diagnosis of each of our garage door issues word for word. The diagnosis he gave me ("worn out springs and one that probably doesn't match the others", "bad rollers", "bad hinges", "you need to replace your pulleys and rollers", "broken track") was not submitted to American Home Shield. All he submitted was that our door (a non-covered item, unsurprisingly) needed replacement and that he fixed our other door that had a lock issue. This company was untimely, unprofessional, and - worst of all - borderline fraudulent. read more

My experience with Precision suggests that they are overpriced and focused on the upsell. The spring broke on my garage door. Precision promptly responded to set up a consultation, and the guy came to visit. He looked at the spring and immediately deduced that because of the age of the mechanism, not only would he have to replace the spring ($250), but the supporting pole ($80), end brackets ($80/ea), and my "wonky" cables ($75). This estimate, with some extra fees, was over $800 and only had a 1-year warranty. He also offered to replace the rollers, at a cost of $22/ea. This second estimate brought it to almost $1000, but this would now give the system a 5-year warranty. I decided to get a second opinion. A few days later, I got the spring replaced for $165 total (that's $150 for the spring + tax, or 60% of what Precision's spring alone cost), with a 4-year warranty included. None of the other pieces had to be replaced. I gave Precision a second star for promptness of service and the salesman's friendliness. read more

They are old and not up to code (from prior home owners). Got an appointment set up with no problem. Wes came out after calling to let us know he was en route. He was on the earlier side of the time frame and very friendly and professional. He gave lots of information that we didn't feel the need to prod him for and never tried to upsell anything. His quote was righ the in the ballpark of other garage door services we had talked to prior. And they have a lifetime guarantee on their product. Bonus points. Man. Where do I begin? We made our purchase for new garage doors and door opener on November 10th. The technician came out on December 17th to install our doors. Half way through the installation he had to leave because he was given the wrong parts. He came back 4 hours later to finish up. After about an hour he told me he couldn't install our motor because of a beam that went through the middle of our garage. He said he needed a shorter track in order to install the motor. I told him the salesperson took all the measurements and was surprised this was happening. He said he would schedule me in for the following Thursday (Dec 26th) with a shorter track in hand. On the 19th I called Precision to confirm my appointment. I was told that there was no such appointment in the books for my house and there were no notes about any issues with the installation. They told me they would contact the "door guys" and have them call me back. Well, days go by and there is no call back. We call back multiple times and get the same response until we finally lose our cool and refuse to hang up until someone transfers us to anyone that can help us. We finally get in touch with someone on the 23rd and they state that they are really sorry and they needed to contact the original installer and get back to us. Guess what? They never got back to us. On the 27th we called Precision and demanded a refund at this point. They said they would get us scheduled immediately for the following Tuesday the 31st but we insisted they get us in on the 28th. The original technician shows up with the shorter track and works on our garage doors for a few hours. He finally comes to us and tells us he can't do the install because he can't figure out how to get our garage doors to open up all the way. He says he will have the main office contact us on the 30th to discuss options. Well...at this point you should know that they didn't call us back. We called them Monday evening and lost our cool again. They said they needed to send out another person to do new measurements. This guy came out on Tuesday and was shocked we were sold what we bought. He said we needed smaller garage doors and a completely different motor. He said he'd go back and see if there was an inventory for the products that we need and get back to us on the 2nd. Well on the 2nd he didn't get back to us but luckily we had a direct line. He had no further information when we called him. To his credit though he called us back today and told us they needed to order our parts as they don't have it in stock. He said hopefully we get the products by next Wednesday and get it installed on Thursday At this point there are so many issues I have with this company. They were upselling us to a point where installation was impossible. Then the lack of attention on customer service was despicable. I get stuff happens. We have had so many contractors coming in and out of our house. I get measurements get mixed up and human error is a real factor. That being said, the lack of accountability and determination to fix their issue is what really irks me. Why do I have to contact them and explain the situation to them multiple times? This is an absolute joke. Fingers crossed that we get this to actually work. Then we need to do the painstaking exercise of accessing the actual price we should have paid vs what we did pay. The chain broke on our opener. Without inspecting the unit Jacob said the entire unit needed replacement for $650. We said "no, thanks." Craftsmen Garage Doors came out. The master link in the chain had popped. He replaced it, and found in his records that he had replaced all the guts in the unit in 2018 and they were fine. $150, saving $500. He even serviced the other garage door opener at no additional charge. They're both operating like new. Stay away from Precision Garage Door. They're out to upsell you. read more

We had our garage door repaired by Precision in 2013. On our receipt (yes we do keep our receipts for a long time!) it states "limited lifetime warranty". Two weeks ago our garage door broke again. I called Precision to ask if this was covered under the warranty. The person I spoke to said they would have to check with the back office since it had been so long. At this point i did not feel like a valued customer and explained " you just lost a customer for life." I would rather pay more somewhere else than do business they way you just presented me. I was scheduled for this morning and told the driver would arrive with a fully equipped truck, ready to work. First words out of the technicians mouth when he arrived, "we don't work on one piece doors'. Then he said they didn't carry the specialized springs needed anyway. So the garage door is still broken. They have responded to 2 "emergency" garage door situations at two of our homes over the last 10 years or so. They have done all of our annual maintenance and replaced garage door openers at both homes. Today, when we had a true "emergency" (I backed into the door and it won't shut) they told me they couldn't get anyone out here for 2 days??? I explained that our door from the garage to our home does not have a lock and we can't just leave our garage door open for 2 nights. Yeah yeah baby, this was one of my favorite experiences in what I've seen to be dangerous work. Electrical, mechanical, 3-dimensional, and dealing with heights over concrete. No job for this frail old man! The service guy was organized and methodical in replacing the "contractor grade" POS installed 23 years ago. It worked and that's all the good news about it. Sound of the motor in operation could be heard across the street, and I know it well. My neighbors have the same garage door opener that I decided needed to be upgraded. I said good riddance to the old to welcome the coolest new opener ever. Whisper quiet, smooth, and very secure with its internal rolling security system. We had our old garage door that was original to our 1952 home replaced with a new door by Precision Door. We were impressed by the speed of their communication when we first filled out an inquiry form and a sales rep was able to come to our home within a couple days. They provided us multiple options and were very thorough in explaining how they would go about installing the door in our space (since it's an old home we have low overhead and other slightly complicating factors). We are happy with our new door and the installer that did the work had the entire project done within four hours. He was very friendly, showed me all of his work before he was finished and left the space spotless after cleaning up. We knocked a star off our review because the communication with Precision Door between the time we went ahead with our purchase and the actual date of install was very frustrating. We didn't receive a formal receipt even though we made a 60% deposit, which was a little concerning to me to hand over so much money without getting any proof or acknowledgement afterwards. We were told the turnaround time for the doors is 2-4 weeks at our consultation but when they called to schedule our install appointment the first option available to us was a full six weeks out. On the day of the install I thought it was odd that we hadn't gotten any confirmation in the six weeks that had passed about our appointment and upon checking when the installers would be coming by they said we were scheduled for install on a completely different day. We wasted an entire day as a result. If you purchase a door we highly recommend following up on your won to make sure that all of their records and notes are correct. I don't feel like that should be my responsibility as a customer but if I had taken the time it could have avoided our frustration. This company had done some work on our garage door previously. We noticed a gap beginning to appear at the bottom, thought it was a spring issue so called and made appointment. Turns out is was another issue that we thought was not under warranty, but we were happy to pay for the repairs. With the weather getting colder we did not want rats or squirrels in our garage. Our service provider checked his records and the FORMER employee who did our original repair did charge us for the part but did not install it. So we did not pay anything. The repair, the labor, the parts were all free of charge. Now we had no way of knowing this I came out with my checkbook ready to pay for quick, excellent service and was told what had happened and that there would be no charge. Precision has serviced my garage on previous occasions with good results. In this case, the spring failed on my door and caused other damage in the process. When the Precision tech came out, he quickly came to the conclusion that it couldn't be fixed and I'd have to get a new door for over $3000. I wasn't convinced so I contacted another company. Their tech came out quickly and determined he could make the repair and the door would work good as new. He was right! My total bill was $636 instead of $3000 plus painting cost.
