This is the one. Stop looking. We had a broken torsion spring that needed to be replaced. I called and they gave me a rough estimate over the phone (100% accurate after coming out). They were here the next morning. The service guy, Joe, was friendly and extremely efficient. It was honest, painless, and competitively priced. Best of all, this is a local small business that I'm happy to support. Experience with a competitor: I called a chain company in Seattle and they said there was a guy in the area that could do a free estimate, but in the range of $300 to be expected. He arrived, looked at it for 10 seconds, and said it'd be little over $1k....I explained I just wanted the torsion spring done, nothing else, and the price kept coming down until we were at $350 + tax. The upsell put me off, so I told him I'd have to consider it. Then was told it's $40 for the trip. The guy on the phone told me he was in the area, it was free. No worries, we'll knock that $40 off when we do the replacement. At this point I just told him I'm really sorry, but the call center needs to do a better job of communicating. In the end he agreed and I was able to move on. Nice enough guy, probably just doing his job on the upsell etc., but BUY LOCAL. read more

My garage door opener started acting up since the sensors were misaligned often. I had used National Door thirteen years ago when the door spring broke. I was very pleased with Jeff's work then. When I called to schedule a replacement opener, they gave me quotes over the phone and were able to schedule the installation for within a week. Jeff showed up within the time frame that was promised. He removed the old opener and installed the new LiftMaster unit right away. The only hiccup was the new opener's power cord was shorter than the original one and wouldn't reach the ceiling outlet. I had a surge suppressor that wasn't being used so Jeff made it work with tie wraps and anchored it well to the ceiling with a clean streamlined look. (See picture) I also requested an extra remote and outside keypad. Jeff helped me to add my pin to the keypad and I was able to program my car's HomeLink button to the new opener. The light on the opener is very bright and stays on long enough to get in the house. The entire cost was roughly $800 including installation. read more

Exceeded Expectations for replacement of a broken garage door spring. The whole process was smooth, from getting a quote to having the job completed. We live in Redmond, and one evening I used the message form on their web site to send a photo of the broken spring with explanation. The next morning they sent me a quote, which was a reasonable price; I accepted and the job was scheduled for the next day. Jeff arrived on time. He not only replaced the spring, but lubricated the garage door opener in both the door that had the broken spring AND in our other garage door opener. He also provided me a few tips on maintenance. Highly recommend NDI! My garage door hit something while closing causing the cable on one side to pop out of the drum, a roller to come out of its track, the bottom weather striping to come off, and the door to buckle in the center. Looked like the whole door would need to be replaced. Called NDI who sent Ken out on a snowy day when the roads were a bit dicey. Do not refer to Dan in good reviews for this company. I got fooled the same way as he no longer is part of the company. They even cut my call abruptly when I asked about Dan. But I unfortunately went ahead and got a appointment post 10 days. No confirmation mail or anything. The technician was late by 2.5 hours and their response when I cashed then is they have a visit time range span of 5 hours whereas when booking the appointment they have me exact time of 9.30 am. I contacted them to change/repair my old garage mechanics. They have a estimate of ~400$ for the new lift master but when they came in since I had to replace 2 units it would cost me ~1000$ which is fair but I was not prepared for it and informed them that I did not want it. They told me they came in and would like to charge me 190$ for the visit. I was aghast and asked him what could be done. The guy told me that my equipment was old and had to be replaced but he could do a service and charge 140$. I was left with no option so I resigned and agreed so that I could save 50$. To my disbelief the guy dismantled the pulley from my sir saying it was useless in 2 minutes, sprayed WD-40 on all hinges and asked me for the money. I could not believe it. I pushed further to ask him if steady I could have a remote installed for the garage door the money charged. He said yes brought a remote and configured it. It worked one time and the did not. I returned it but got added a service charge for trying it out. I have myself to blame for some party on being so gullible as I am a new home buyer but these guys are slick. Never call them without working out the details. Now I have one for which earlier used to work manually but now never works. Buyers beware. read more

Initial install wasn't exactly as we had hoped given the complexity of our modern and odd shaped detached garage. Understanding its uniqueness, I offered to fix it myself but they said "no we want you to be 100% satisfied, we'll take care of it to ensure your happy." I had a great repair experience with NDI and I'll likely be coming back soon for a bigger upgrade. Never thought it would happen to me, but I finally did it: I opened the wrong garage door and absentmindedly backed my car into the one I *didn't* open. Ouch. I didn't completely bust it, fortunately, but three of the panels were creased badly and one of the brackets popped off a rail. I reached out to half a dozen local places. Dane was the first to get back to me and, as far as I could tell, the only person who actually read my message before replying. He advised on the options for replacement and immediately called out that there were no 1:1 swaps for my older door since the stamp patterns had changed over the years. He was able to give me a very transparent, itemized estimate ready for deposit and scheduling if I wanted to get that going. One problem, though: this year of all years, it takes a long time to order a new door, and nothing matching my door was just sitting around. That meant 8 weeks or so to wait, and I needed a more immediate fix. Dane had me call the office to schedule a service visit to see if it could be made operational again. They were able to get to me just a couple of days later--where some of the other places were saying it'd be two weeks or so before they could come to even do an in-person evaluation and estimate. The day came, they were on time (actually a little early!), extremely professional and knowledgeable, and very effective. Two strut kits, some tools I didn't recognize, and 25 minutes of clearly well-practiced work later, the door's back to fully functional even if it (unavoidably) looks a little beat up (I mean, it *did* get hit by a car). No upsells, no shadiness, and very reasonable pricing. That's bought me a little more time to consider replacement options with aesthetics and matching in mind rather than just an emergency "panic" purchase, and I really appreciate the willingness to explore the repair route given that a few other providers were dead-set on "nope, we'll only sell you a new door." Once I've got the upgrade plan figured out, I'll for sure be coming back to NDI. read more

I needed some service on my garage door. I tried several things and it wouldn't close using the remote. I called and set the appointment with a very helpful scheduler. Typically, with this type of repair service, they show up late. Especially since my house's address isn't on Google maps. The appointment was at 11:00 AM and lo and behold, he drove up the drive way at 11:00 AM. It took him a few minutes to figure out what the problem was, then made a few adjustments. It didn't work so he replaced a part. Still didn't work, so it tried another adjustment. It worked. The surprise was he went back to the part that he just installed and said "let's see if the old part works, that way it won't cost you as much." He put the old part in and everything worked.
