It is an untouched survivor, a rare truck that sat idle since 1974. It is a very important special truck. I explained that I needed it to be as factory correct as possible. He understood the importance of the build and produced a beautiful engine. He cleaned the original 2 stage fuel pump to perfection. He kept me in the loop during the build showing me photos of the process. I was not able to be there when he ran it for its break in period but did send a video showing pressures and operation. The attention to detail was outstanding and the paint job was perfect. The engine ran perfectly. There was one slight leak that popped up ( happens) but Dan stood behind his work, fixed it and I could not be happier. I highly recommend Dan for his engine rebuilds. In today's world it is hard to find a reputable, honest machine shop. You can trust Dan. I am Washington states collector car appraiser and ex Concours judge. For one, the price was far less than the dealership we bought the car from, and secondly, Smiley's did a much nicer job installing the hitch, and the wiring. The woman at the front desk was very nice and stuck to her quote that she had given me when I made the appointment. If you need a trailer hitch installed I would highly recommend skipping I-5 Auto World and instead heading to Smiley's on the west side of Mount Vernon, your vehicle, and your bank account will be glad you did.
