It's funny to drive up and see dental pickup truck and SUV, in the parking lot, made me think the place would be pretty full but to my surprise the majority of people are eating and drinking while seated around the Cheers like bar. Appears to be a 50+ crowd... The menu is to the point small plate prices, large plate prices...As to the chicken parm...it was ok but lacked flavor as did the fried chicken teriyaki dumplings (was provided with honey mustard) though. You cannot go wrong here ordering whatever fish is on the specials menu. Consistently cooked to perfection, an interesting variety offered over time. Chef does a fantastic job with it. I've had monkfish, artic char, and most recently tautog (blackfish). Delish!! read more

So disappointed in the meal we received. The portions were tiny and the mashed potatoes were made from a box. We also suspected the "homemade" crab cake was anything but homemade. Our bill came to 70 dollars for two entrees and an appetizer to share. We both drank water. 70 DOLLARS FOR FAKE MASHED POTATOES!!!! You have got to be kidding me. The appetizer for two (as it was advertised) was 4 VERY small (no bigger than a quarter) clams casino. 2 shrimp and two VERY small stuffed mushrooms. The entree of Filet Mignon medallions was tough and rubbery and I just can't get over the fact that they charged us an arm and a leg for FAKE MASHED POTATOES. We will never go there again and discourage others from going there as well. read more

We went here for my boyfriends birthday (a Thursday night) and the it wasn't terribly busy. We were seated right away with a party of 5. So far so good. But then no one came over for at least 5 minutes. Not exactly a deal breaker but not what you would anticipate for a nice restaurant that isn't busy. After the waiter got us our drinks, instead of asking if we wanted to place an appetizer or bringing us bread or offering us assistance with the menu (specials or whatnot) he disappears and we don't see him for another ten minutes. At this point we have already been seated a half hour and two other full tables have come in and been seated, gotten drinks, bread and appetizers. You've got to be kidding. So we finally put in our orders, for appetizers and meals so we don't run the risk of Having to wait again. We get our appetizers fairly quickly but wait another half an hour for our meals. The others tables, which had all been seated after us, ate all paying checks and leaving at this point. We are pretty much alone in the dinning room. We get our apps, they're ok. The salads come out and are inedible because they are drenched in dressing. We eat our sub par food, definitely not worth the amount of money I paid on the check, and then were basically rushed out. No offer of dessert or anything. My boyfriends parents own a restaurant and to an extent we can understand how things could take so long, but the time lines on this night were unacceptable. They were not nearly busy enough to warrant this kind of delay. We arrived at 630 and did not leave until 9. I will not recommend this place to anyone ever, nor will I ever return. Maybe if the spent as much time on their customers as they did on the decor. My boyfriends sister did point out that they are Hispanic and I am white. While I have never experienced racial prejudice while out with him, she was convinced it played a part. If this is true, shame on you. Get with the 21st century. If you thought they weren't going to tip well, who cares! Every customer deserves your best. Especially with the prices of the food. read more

Sunday 4/29. Came in at 2:45 Sat at the bar. Food ordered well before 3pm. Did not get our food until 4:15. The place was not busy. Appetizer was suppose to be sausage soup and it was seafood. And the burger didn't have the advertised dressing on it. Overall the food was ok. Must be the location keeping this place in business with tourist. The only reason it got a 2 star was the bar tender who was pleasant and attentive enough. read more

They changed there menu and it just went down hill.. the food wasn't as good as it used to be service and atmosphere was still great but not worth the price anymore. From someone who used to go a lot... I won't be coming back unless they upgrade there menu to something better then the garbage they are serving now. read more

Been here a couple of times for dinner. The atmosphere is very unique and the food was exceptional. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallops Mediterranean and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Ok, I admit, we are here most Friday nights and eat at the bar. The specials are varied and inventive. The standard menu is extensive including a small plate menu. The wine list changes frequently. And the ambiance is unique. It really is a former powerhouse and they have the pictures to prove it. Give it a try. I believe you won't be disappointed. read more

Stopped here for dinner. We were a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Salmon, which I enjoyed. Others had the Crab Cakes, no filler just crab. Wonderful. So after passing by this place approximately eleventy billion times and say, "Hey, we should go there sometime," hubs and I finally stopped. I had the french dip and it was really good! The prime rib was tender and not overly fatty and the au jus was perfect. Hubs had the crab quesedillia and said it was very good. They each came with french fries and quite frankly, they blew. They seemed old and were super dried out, but Ehhh french fries aren't going to make or break a place for me. The wine list was good and they had a nice selection of specialty cocktails. The beer list looked stacked. The prices were pretty decent for the small plates. The large plates are a little pricey but the selection looked pretty fancy. Overall, I'd hit it up again. I'd like to see it at not Sunday at 5pm to see if the clientele is any different. It was a little senior. read more

I've been driving past this place for years and kept saying I need to stop and try it. Today, I finally had some extra time in my travels, and finally got the chance to drop in for lunch. I must have hyped it up too much in my head because it didn't meet my expectations. Apparently, casual fine dining means slow service. I had the pork sandwich, which was made from some rather poor cuts of meat and was quite greasy. The decor and history was pretty cool, but that's not enough to make me come back again. read more

Best restaurant in the area. The converted space makes for a great ambiance. The restaurant is gigantic, excellent for large parties, reservations are a must on a Friday or Saturday for dinner. Lunch is a limited menu but well put together and the ingredients are very fresh. Not cheap. Service was top-notch attentive at both meals; however, our first course took nearly an hour to arrive which was highly irritating. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it's a gem for this area. Full bar w/inventive drinks. Music played is a nice mix of current and classic rock. The crowd is definitely couples in their 30s (saw a handful) but mainly families and singles 40s +. Do not let the name or building fool you. This is a slightly upscale restaurant with the prices and slow service that come along with it. Food is not plentiful. I based my stars on your other options in the area. Waitress did not seem eager to make a tip due to her not asking if we would like another beverage when we finished our bottle of beer. Had the french dip and although rather tasty was quite small. Daughter had the ravioli. She got 4. She was 11 and left hungry. I also got the vibe children and early lunch were not welcome. We stopped in for our anniversary. I had the chicken piccata with crab. No flavor the sauce was like gravy and had no flavor. My husband had the steak which was charred and tasted burnt. Vegtables were bland and pilaf also had no flavor. Bill was 80 dollars so not worth it. I've passed this restaurant a handful of times and it always piqued my interest. My wife and I finally had the chance to eat here and we loved it. The small plates are very reasonably priced. I had a chicken cheesesteak and it rivaled anyone I ever ate in Philly. My wife loved her French Dip. Food is well prepared and well cooked, we went for lunch and the portions are perfect and well presented, the food for me was great however the best part of Powerhouse has to be the presentation and overall look of it, very unique and had a very good vibe inside. Well cleaned and properly organized, the staff was very helpful and was there when you needed them. Also when you asked them a question they were honest and did not dodge around tough questions. My only complaint was the entree portion seems expensive for my taste, as the portions looked small on the entree side from what I seen. However I didn't try any entree's so I can't give a fair review for the entrees. Would definitely go back if I lived in the area read more

We were cruising through on 80 and saw this place on the way to PSU. It looked interesting so we decided to try it for lunch on the return trip. In summary, I should've went with my gut instinct and tried somewhere else. Everything was average, except the prices. We will not be back. Pros: waittress was very nice and attentive, portions were good, and wait time was acceptable (place was nearly empty so to be expected). DELICIOUS!! My boyfriend and I were in the mood for a nice piece of filet mignon. This definitely was the best place to go. We went around 8:00 on a saturday night and we didnt have to wait. Our server was very sweet and on top of everything. My boyfriend was very excited they had Yuengling Black & Tan and it was only $2.50! Appeitzers, salad and bread were delicious. The only thing that bothered me was where we sat - in the bar at a booth( not a problem) but the booth started to hurt my butt. There wasnt any pading underneathe me or for my back. Other than this we had a great experience and will be going back soon. read more
