I received a call from Shante in claims who processed to tell me "there is nothing wrong with it, it works as it should, you just don't like it". Shante continues to repeat the same thing every time I talk to her even when video was shown to the store manager of me knocking on the visible frame. Over a month of going back and forth, even with purchasing a warranty, Shante calls today to tell me they will give me a credit this one time even though "nothing is really wrong with it". Shante has to be the rudest person I've ever had to deal with when it comes to a purchase. She doesn't listen to a word you say and keeps repeating what she feels over and over. If you are looking to spend your hard earned money on new furniture- do not shop at Lake Effect. Absolutely garbage furniture with a warranty you pay for that they give you nothing but a hard time honoring. I've declined any credit from this store and will continue to share my experience so others are not taken advantage of. Sadly after posting this to Facebook, I have learned both individuals and businesses have had the same issues when it came to putting in a claim. Seems to just be the way they treat all customers.

Shhhhh I could spend hours in this store. Kirkland's has a great selection of pieces for every room in your house. This is a really good-sized store, too, so you are probably going to get what you need in-stock. Once upon a time, Pier 1 was right down the road from me. When they closed their doors for good, I was a bit bummed because I honestly had forgotten about Kirkland's. I don't go out to this side of town very often, but I was looking up home decor places online when I moved and lo and behold, Kirkland's popped up. I was so happy to walk back in their doors! Yes, there's Home Goods, and who doesn't love Home Goods? They've got a great selection, too, but I find the items at Kirkland's to be a step above. The store is arranged more nicely and is less picked-over. Sometimes at HG, you'll see things that are broken or dented in some way. I've never seen that at Kirkland's. Something else - they've often got a coupon or other discount you can use at the register, but I find their prices to be fair as they sell goods that are not cheaply made and rarely damaged. If you're looking for fall decor, Christmas decorations, something for Easter or Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day or summer, they've got you covered each season with fresh decor to make your house feel like a home.

The staircase to the second and third levels is just inside the main entry on the right, and there is a gender-neutral restroom there too. Staff is friendly, helpful, and easy to find. Parking is available on the street (free, no meters). I also met a very sweet and friendly shop cat wandering around. Bonus points for the shop cat. Note - as with any large building full of really cool very old building materials, there is a pervasive musty smell in the air, so if you're sensitive to those things (allergies, asthma, etc.) a mask might be a good idea.

They told us that we would get a call the day before delivery and that we needed to have the area clean for the delivery people. Completely understandable. The week when it is supposed to get delivered comes up, and we begin to clean the bedroom. The day before the week would end we take apart our old bed frame so that there will be no hassle with delivery. The week goes by and no one calls. It was the week of Thanksgiving so we gave them a few extra days. Well now it's the first week of December and still noone has contacted us, and we were supposed to have our bed in November. We finally call the store for them to ramble off a bunch of crap, and do nothing for us. There excuse is that they are at the hands of the manufacturers. Raymour and Flanigan, get some better manufacturers then. Call your customers and relay the information.

Everything was pretty well organized and fairly tidy for a thrift store. It was a Sunday and there weren't very many customers. They have a massive amount of clothing, but this time we were there for housewares and whatever else fun we could find for our apartment. The dish and glassware section is quite large and I'll need to go back with a specific plan to make proper use of it. Until then, I found a few things we still needed (having recently relocated from across the country with only a sedan full of stuff)... -2 quart Revere Ware saucepan for $6.98, lightweight and durable. -Pyrex measuring cup for $2.49. -white glass bud vase for 49 cents. -old aluminum ice trays to use in desk organizing for 99 cents. I will say, some of the pricing seems a little off. And unfortunately, a cute little ceramic dish I had found didn't make it into my bag at checkout. Overall, I was pretty happy with the store and will definitely be going back with a plan and more time. They have a location closer to me that I'll be checking out soon, too.
