It's a funky basement type coffee shop that doesn't prioritize excellent beans or barista skills. The cappuccinos are mostly milk. The staff is nice but the service is slovenly. Met a friend here for coffee. The coffee was great the service was beyond exceptional. We were sitting less than 8 ft. away and they brought us our coffee. In addition to that there is a neighborhood refrigerator plugged in outside where people can come to take free food or donate food. I watched two elderly people with carts come and get food and one person dropped off meals. For that reason alone I would go back time and time again. Such a cozy, friendly neighborhood cafe - I've been looking for the perfect place to relax and work on weekends and I think this is it. The cafe space itself really stands out, with a variety of little tables and barstools for working, a sofa for chatting with friends, outdoor seating so you can share coffee with Fido, and even an additional seating room with toys and books for kids. There's a comfy spot for everyone. The entire front wall of the cafe opens up, so the atmosphere is incredible on a sunny summer day, with a breeze blowing in from the quiet street. The coffee was pretty good, pleasantly tangy. They have super thick mugs that keep your drink nice and hot for ages. My friend and I came on a Friday afternoon and were the only ones here. We appreciated that it wasn't one of the many cafes in the area that closes at 7pm. In fact, on Fridays, it closes at 10pm. I think this is one of the hidden gems of Park Slope -- I frequent coffee shops to study and do work all the time and I have to say this is probably one of the most pleasant ones to work out of. When I say "hidden" -- like really, hidden. It's off to the side of 6th street so it could be easily missed. (The entrance is on the side of the building down 6th street) The inside has a very "homey" feel, warm, plenty of seats to choose from -- whether you like to sit on a bench top with stools, standard tables, benches, or sofas with a coffee table. I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you can pretty much make yourself at home in this cozy two-layered cafe. There's eclectic, comfy furniture and plenty of outlets so you can get work done with their free wifi, or just read a book. Personally, I wouldn't mind camping out all day here! Coffee/tea is on the cheaper side, and they do accept cards. They also have bagels and some pastries in case you're hungry. Staff are friendly and have a laid back, yet professional attitude. An ideal little community perch with perks. We popped in for an hour or so on a bright Monday morning, and plunked ourselves at the window shelf to get a quick few things done while our apartment lacked internet. A bagel + cream cheese and a dirty chai ran me approximately $6, plus $1 tip for the kind barrista. *It's not TOO comfortable, which doesn't facilitate long bouts making sweet virtual love to your laptop. You won't want to, the chairs are hard and the tables a tad wobbly. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because the space is small, and laptop warblers are a dime a dozen. Move along with your battery life! *Midweek lunch hour brings in droves of preteens clamoring for smoothies, soups and sandwiches. For approximately 30-40 minutes, the place is overrun with the distinct air of awkward teenagers, counting of dollar bills and change, and an underlying sense of "ah, remember when...?" I suggest moving your operation before the hurricane of hormones rushes the place. FWIW, the staff deals with them quite nicely. In fact, I do not begrudge this rush at all, as they collectively probably spend more money than all of the adults combined, all day...nursing one latte for 4 hours of wifi. Uh-huh. Can you tell I'm a tad fed up with "coffee squatters?" A good option for a cuppa joe, light bite and to sit for a bit in a pretty chill setting. Great for meeting a friend, as people are in and out and it's not "too quiet" to feel like you can converse at appropriate levels. Not necessarily the best place in Park Slope to park for hours on end to work, but then again....where is? I need to design a space that fits this need and still drives profits. In so many Yelping words, I've posited myself as a person full of pride when it comes to "having heart." Here's my chance to put my money where my mouth is. New York and Brooklyn are becoming increasingly inundated with deprived coffee snobs...immigrants from greater coffee cities that demand more than "coffee regular" or "coffee black." Postmark Cafe is not the new arrival that will convert this New York coffee culture from stumptown-abstaining Vestal Virgins into Pseudo-Bohemian Blue Bottle Addicts. And perhaps this is just why I love it. You see, Postmark isn't part of a fleeting trend...the "hipsterfy" everything from Ice Cream to Toothpicks generation of multifarious 20-somethings new breed capitalists. On the contrary, it's not a coffee shop for New Yorkers either...a safe house where degenerative attitudes roam freely like an airborne pandemic viruses. In this sense, it's not Liberal, nor Conservative...not Black or White...not Lennon or McCartney. It just is. A better message to give the world I cannot think of. Just be...make no excuse for yourself and do not glaze over the obvious battle with your struggles and insecurities, but instead find love in other s and the simple transaction of a coffee and a smile without stardom for stardom is out of it's mind in 2010 with everyone obsessing over it. The owner, Brad is a genuinely nice individual with (there's that word again) HEART. He gets by because he cares about every customer that walks through the door and supports him. There's no agenda in his daily routine. There's only his life and your life as the customer...and the societal relationship that goes unspoken in this scenario. Sadly, I find the acceptance of this realization or even the acknowledgement of this realization fading from view in our society. Postmark has good coffee. Not being a coffee snob or even someone that has arrived at a deep appreciation of the subtle nuances of the world of coffee, perhaps I am able to take a more objective view of the coffee, but I'm a person that is constantly thinking and remaining open minded. So if it's not the coffee's molecular composition or the subtle artistry that garners my attention just yet, you can bet I'm paying attention to other aspects of this establishment. And let me tell you, Postmark is on the mark. Dollar bagels...$1.50 with Cream Cheese. Daily deals like 'add brownie to any coffee drink for $1 x-tra'. Extensive Teas and Italian Soda flavors. A simple, inexpensive coffee shop where anyone is welcome to come hang out and enjoy the wi fi for free. The bakery goods are actually pretty tasty considering that they aren't baked on the premises and they'll always make whatever drink you order, whether or not it's on the menu. (I've walked in many an evening and told them "I don't know what I want- just make me something yummy") Not sure where the poster below gets her "facts"- the coffee shop is managed and staffed by members/friends of Church! of Park Slope, not The Orchard Group; and no one in the cafe tries to "hide" the fact that it's run by a church. (Maybe she is scared that they secretly brew the coffee with holy water!) The most "religious" activity that goes on at this establishment seems to be the staff's willingness to donate their tips to buy livestock for Heifer international or to build wells in drought-prone areas of Africa. I wish other businesses in the area would donate a portion of their profits to charitable causes. (And for the record, I'm a queer, atheist, pro-choice liberal and everyone at this shop has embraced me and my viewpoints without preaching or evangelizing. Adorable! I fell in love with Postmark cafe simply by peeking in through the window. I couldn't help myself from strolling in for a soy latte & chocolate chip cookie. Small, but a good amount of eclectic seating choices... including an extra room with games and (fortunately for me, unoccupied) child toys. The coffee and espresso is actually pretty cheap compared to other local coffee shops in the area. read more

This icy broad had the balls to give me a 'tude after I asked for a case to hold 3 coffees in. Um ... I'm not afraid to dust off my dexterous, cabana-boy skills but why should I have to because some chick doesn't want to do her job? N.B. that this joint is POPPIN' around 11:00 - 12:30 when all these kids from the nearby school shitstorm the place. It's a veritable Park Slope Tween Freakout! Long lines and lotsa braces. This place is just swell. Everyone is really friendly, staff and other patrons. There's a good mix of people. I've gone here in the evenings for live music when a friend's band was playing. It's a great set-up for small shows. They set up rows of chairs facing the stage area and there's a couch or two off to the side. Very low-key and comfortable. A small coffee or tea is $1-ish, which is kind of unheard of for most brick and mortar stores. This is a nice spot to hang out with friends (or make some new ones) and not break the bank doing so. read more

As a newly unemployed 20-something looking for work and terrified of the insane price of my energy bill after sitting at home all day in 90+-degree heat with the AC running all day, I decided to venture to a local coffee shop to enjoy their AC and free WiFi. Postmark was air-conditioned (not an icebox, but cool enough!) and had a decent amount of plugs/outlets. It's not a huge place, probably about 10 tables all together, but it also wasn't super crowded while I was there. I stayed for a couple of hours and never felt pressured to leave. The iced coffee I had was standard...nothing life-changing, but pretty good. I also had a bagel and cream cheese which was only $1.50! So, with a large iced coffee and bagel/CC, my total was $4.50 and I gave the $0.50 to the tip jar which goes to charity. Also, the place had AWESOME music. I arrived realizing I left my earphones at home and was worried I wouldn't be able to work there without distraction, but the music was so good I was glad I didn't bring my earphones. As some have described, it does have the college vibe going on, which definitely was helped by the Pavement, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, soundtrack along with some older and new bands. Currently at Postmark Cafe and taking a break from my studies, I decided to write a review for Postmark Cafe. For someone who is studying or needs to get work done, this is a great place to come and get things done for a few hours. Plenty of table space and very open feel to the cafe so you won't feel cramped at all. I've only been to Manhattan cafes, which were small, dim litted, loud music, and you can hardly get a seat. Came in around 10 am and there were plenty of space with some people already parked with their macs working away. The price for coffee is decently priced and pretty good. During my "stay" here, I got a cafe au lait (pretty good for the price), jasmine tea (free 1 refill of water), and this carrot oat muffin (yum). There is soft music playing in the background, people are mindful of each other and keep their voices down, the staff was always helpful and friendly. For the macs and laptops cafe go-ers out there, this place has plenty of outlets! read more

Postmark Cafe seems to have traveled around town collecting all of my favorite things - oat milk drinks, Alternative Baking Company cookies, pastries from Colson, and bagels from La Bagel Delight. Realizing that I could get all the things I'm typically looking for on a quiet weekend morning PLUS knowing that I can play with my toddler quietly in their basement room without bothering other patrons (they have books and toys there!) was an amazing moment.
