I am convinced Satan himself dropped these two women who work in this place off from hell. I have never encountered such wickedly evil energy in my life. These 2 old women must have had horrible lives to be so rude, forceful and mean. I read the horrible reviews on google before I went there so I purposely went in with a smile and friendly upbeat demeanor and I walked out cursing like a sailor. I went in to drop off a pkg that had a pre-paid label. All Satans daughter had to do was take the bag throw it in the bin and keep it moving but Noooo! she asks, are there any explosives or whatever they ask and I said no. Then she says you have this in the wrong bag. I'm like wth (in my head). It was a priority bag. She goes its not a priority label. I point to the label which said priority as well. She continues to go on and on about they may charge more to the receiver. At this point her side kick is looking like she is ready to jump in at any minute. I tell them its a return and that's the return label they gave me. She asks, where is the bag it came in? I'm like that's the same bag it was mailed to me in. Then she says nothing else takes it and walks away. I turn to walk away and hear one of them go Hmph! I should have turned around and said, Satan! I rebuke you in Jesus name! These are just mean, evil women, hell bent on destroying your day. Don't let them! Stay the hell away from this place. I don't know if they own this place or if its affiliated with the USPS but I will find out and file a complaint with them as well. These demons should not be able to work with the public. read more

Here's my take on this place: the old ladies are so grumpy because they have to deal with such a diverse customer base. Salem wasn't always as multi-cultural as it is now. Granted, there's a language barrier. However. I am white as rice and every old lady in there, especially the one with white curly hair, is incredibly rude to me. The old one with her eyebrows painted on is slightly less rude, and the younger, bigger version of her is the least rude of the 3. They're not even a real post office. They charge the most they can to provide services that the USPS provides for free (like giving you a receipt for delivery confirmation) and those old gals make it look like 1989 in there. No technology, nothing. There's handwritten signs everywhere, like, hey stand here and read all this stuff, and we're gonna treat you like an idiot if you don't read them all. Maybe it's time to close up shop and knit, or continue dying. They do provide free USPS Priority Mail boxes to mail (that really should be next door) and 'ol white hairs yelled at me one day for grabbing 2 of them. I held them up and showed her they were the free ones, I'm not trying to shove them down my pants like some hooligan. But if she crept up on me I'd knock her the eff out. By the way, Great Grandma, nobody wants to buy your old puzzles, sweaters, 500% markup Juicy Fruit, or paintings. Jesus H. Christ. You need to make it all about mail or nothing. Or retire! My girlfriend came home and described to me her terrible interaction with this "post office", she was so frustrated with how rude the lady working there was with her. Thankfully, she felt better with a good laugh as I started reading her all the comments about this place on Yelp. Everything she described to me when she got home was already documented in the comments. Signs everywhere, incredibly rude, no technology, asking you why you didn't read the 100 handmade signs posted, only cash or check while charging you $2.00 to use the ATM instead. Next door to this place is a "Post Office". It's only PO Boxes but if you need an item mailed/weighed/etc... this is the actual Postal Office part. There were two ladies in there that seemed bored out of their mind and not very welcoming when I came in. Poor NE Salem. No real post offices so you're stuck with these two-bit operations. Not that the service is all that better at a real post office, but at least with the real-deal you won't encounter rude signs or staff--but if you do you can complain to someone's boss. The minute you walk into this dump you're accosted with dead silence. You get the feeling that the two customers quietly filling out their forms are aware that this is the 'soup nazi' of mailing services.No kidding, I counted at least 6 signs barking orders to customers. Here are a few: CASH or CHECK only. ATM service charge $2.50. STAND BEHIND YELLOW LINE UNTIL CALLED NO CELL PHONE USE AT COUNTER (x3) It may seem obvious to you, but if you write on an envelope you must pay for it! (In 3 languages! You're spoken to very curtly, your money is scanned 42 times to ensure it's not counterfeit, and then you're given a very tiny paper receipt with no explanation of what you've paid for (not so convenient if you want to be reimbursed at work). Though there is a sign in the window, claiming "United States Post Office," make no mistake about it - this is NOT a post office. It is a postal shop run by less-than-friendly clerks who are authorized to process USPS transactions. Seriously, they make a trip to the real post office seem like visit to a 5-start resort. I had to ship some items to my office and was looking for a convenient option. This place was the closest so I went in, expecting...well what you normally expect at post offices: a row of clerks, a long line, and an assortment of Priority shipping boxes, signs, etc. At least they got the long lines thing down. When I go tot he front of the line I asked about Priority Shipping boxes (you know, the free ones they give out at the Post Office). They seemed less than enthusiastic about helping me. They only had a few, none of which my items would fit into. They told me that I had to buy one of their boxes. And I had to buy the tape. Once I finally had it put together I went back to the counter to pay - CASH ONLY! Yikes, I will never be back here again. If you ever find yourself in the Salem area needing to ship something, steer clear of this place and go to the REAL Post Office. Note: There is another alleged "post office" down Lancaster. Same deal, except with much friendlier people and a better supply of free boxes. Still cash only. read more

I walked in 5 mins till close and the lady was more concerned about closing than helping me get a box, so I can purchase and mail out my item. Take your business else where. The ladies who work here are soooooo rude. If you really don't enjoy your job that much please atleast pretend. They expect you to know all their prices and when you ask how much things are they give you attitude. I don't think any of the ladies here our courteous or know customer service. I go to this store because I ship boxes out frequently, and the USPS is much farther from where I live. That said, I put up with slow and rude customer service, and the inconvenience of having to pay a $2 charge if I use my debit card for something under $20. Recently, I went in to mail a package; I gave the woman (Peggy) the box, and told her I wanted a tracking number. After a half-hearted attempt to put a sticker on, she rudely told me the box was too small, and said they wouldn't be able to read the tracking number. All of this was nonsense, of course, as I was reusing the box that I had just received through the mail! She whispered something under her breath, completed the transaction, and didn't say another word to me. This visit took twice the amount of time it should normally take. Having worked in customer service for many years, I understand that there are difficult customers; however, I was NOT one of them. From the moment I handed her my package, her attitude turned from unfriendly to snide. If you don't mind dealing with really slow transactions, little-to-no customer service, and the hassle of a check or debit card with a $2 charge', go for it. If not, I'd recommend going to the USPS, and letting these people self implode until they run themselves out of business (which, based on their reviews, seems likely). read more

The only reason I ever go to this Postal Annex is because it's closer to my home then the regular post office but I usually regret going in here. Every time the women that work there are so very rude! today I had two packages that I needed to get out into the mail... as I'm standing there a lady in front of me was asking me if I spoke Spanish I explained that I knew very little and she said okay I got to the counter and proceeded to do my transaction which always cost more than it should because you have to use their stupid ATM if you're paying with a card instead of cash in the meantime the lady in line next to me asked another customer (obviously she was needing help translating something one of the women had told her) basically the conversation was about faxing a document and she just wanted to know how long it was going to take... the white-haired lady in the back that was faxing her document very rudely and not even quietly says "learn English" I could not be more embarrassed to be an english speaking white lady standing at that counter at that moment I will not go back to this Postal Annex again. read more

Well um... they do their jobs, but several times, the service I've gotten there has been weirdly unfriendly; some of the people that work there clearly don't want to be there and seem offended by the mere act of a customer entering the store. I've had a couple of perfectly nice experiences, but I often leave wondering what I've done wrong, after being glared at and asked the usual questions in a frustrated tone. Customer service roulette, really. The real advantage of this place is that unlike the other post offices in Salem, I've never been stuck in a long line. I've mailed 2 letters there, neither received. I attempted to send a package in a box that was previously used. It was a huge deal. She pointed to a spot on the wall and I said what am looking for? She then roles her eyes... I then I had stood near the glass and was yelled at "we do not use the glass!!!" I'd give 0 stars but it won't let me. I've never left a review anywhere before but I feel I have to for this place. Postal plus on Lancaster road in Salem or. I have NEVER BEEN TREATED AS HORRIBLY AS I DID THERE. i walked in with a package and the address (with my 3 children in tow and holding an infant in a carrier). There was no one in line and theee workers. I said "I would like to mail a package. I have the address. Do I need to write it on the package or will it print on the label." She glared at me and said "you can buy a label for .25". cents and waved her hand towards a wall that had so much on it. Candy, purses, a million things. I said "I'm sorry where?" Because I couldn't see it with so many random things. She rolled her eyes and said "by the York patties". I took one. She said there's a table back there for you to work on. (There is still no one in the place. I'm the only customer). I walk to the back hauling my three kids. There isn't a pen in sight. I scour the walls and table. No pen. I haul them back up to the front. "I can't find a pen". Again she rolled her eyes and said "the flowers are pens" (next to the cash register). I say thank you and take one. Take my kids back to the back table and fill it out. 2 people got there while I was writing and a few after so I stood in line. When I got to the the front. I handed her the package and my credit card and ID. "Can I please mail this". She proceeded to look at her chart $12.40. (She didn't give me any options). I said ok. She asked if it was fragile liquid parishabke. I answered yes it is fragile, it's expensive medical glasses. She again rolled her eyes. Then she looked at the card I handed her and said "this isn't a debit card." I answered "no it's my business credit card." She said "we only take debit cards" and pointed to one of the hundreds of signs written on regular paper (nothing professional, so many things you can't even read them all) I said "okay I have my debit card in the car can I leave this here really fast and go get it." I hailed my kids outside, got the debit card and came back. She was helping someone else: I waited patiently and when she was finished I went up to the counter and handed her my debit card. She said I have to charge you $20 and give you the change. Our machine only works in units of 10s. ". "Um ok." She went to the other side of the machine and put my card in an ATM machine. I look over and it says "there will be a bank service charge". I said "wait if there is a charge I'll just go to another post office. I didn't know you didn't take credit." She answered "can you not read? There is a sign that says only debit." I was in shock at how I was being treated "actually yes I can read. I'm a doctor and highly educated. There are so many signs no one can read them all and I always pay with my credit card and ID at the post office." I tried to take my package to go to another post office. And she stopped me and said "you owe us .25 cents you can't take the package." "What? How am I supposed to give you .25 cents? I tried to pay with my credit card and debit card and you want my bank to charge me $3 so I can give you 25 cents for a stamp." "Well you can't leave". I asked to talk to a manger about the customer service and the other lady working said she was a manager and againsaid to me "can you not read?" A nice gentleman behind me in line said "when I get change from buying a stamp I'll get you a quarter". I'm not sure how this place has a USPS SIGN! The manager proceeded to tell me to get out and never come back. Oh don't worry. I'll go to a real USPS. I went to the next closest USPS and they were appalled. The lady even gave my kids some candy for what they had gone through and they were still being polite quiet wonderful children! read more
