Craft beer "flights" from the on-campus brewery. Very good.

Just two suggestions/dislikes first, please: 1. The use of new sheets of brown paper being torn from the huge roll - which serves as disposable table cloths (rather than installing cleanable, reusable table tops, such as glass) after each customer's dining experience - is very wasteful. 2. The portions were very small, as compared to the vast majority of similar privately owned, public dining establishments. Everything else was wonderful - our main server and all the other students assisting in table service, was/were wonderful ! Stellar service worthy of 5 stars. The food was absolutely delicious (we had wood-fired shishito peppers, smoked trout spread with house-made chips, Ahi tuna tacos, the house burger [ done to perfection, per requested 'doneness'] and the tin roof sundae for dessert) were all scrumptious and delectable, all expertly prepared, creative and innovative. We REALLY enjoyed all of our food choices. We also thought all of our craft beer choices (brewed on campus) were very good - the brewery has come a long way since it was first established several years ago. The Ambiance was very nice - not too chic, or trendy, but slightly elegant and comfortable without seeming pretentious. Seeing as potions were so small (as compared to similar, privately owned establishments in the Mid-Hudson valley area), but the prices were just as elevated, my dining partner and I deemed the value to be worthy of only 2 stars.

What a great experience! Food was crazy delicious, beer was great and the service is first class. It's so fun to watch the students practice what they learn.

    Their coasters... pretty cool, huh?

I am about to say something I don't believe I have ever said before: I was so focused on devouring the burger I ordered for lunch that I completely forgot I also had a beer in front of me. Post Road Brew House is, if you weren't already aware, a pop-up brewery at the Culinary Institute of America. The bad news is that it will not be around for long, so get here soon! The focus is on gastropub food that pairs well with their own beers and other featured beers, wines, liquors and cocktails - but especially their beers. Their own beer selection currently features mostly IPA's, which, unfortunately, is not appealing to me (IPAs are my least favorite beer currently). But wanting to have one of their own, I settled for their Mis En Place Witbier - good enough to order two! And if you want to take their beer home, they do sell it in growlers! My Post Road Burger was cooked to order, served with a delicious melted cheddar cheese, garnished with a baby gherkin and a cherry tomato, and served with a trio of their homemade mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. The mustard was good, the ketchup was better and unique, and my favorite was the mayo. The ketchup was more like a fresh marinara, with plenty of Italian spices. I put all 3 on both my burger and fries. The fries were almost as perfect as the burger - ever so slightly greasy, and distinctly salty, but a perfect accompaniment to the burger. Sadly, because it is a pop-up, Post Road will eventually go away. But hopefully some future incarnation will be based on the food, drink, and experiences here.

Pepper crusted hangar steak in red wine reduction with fried onions, roasted carrots, and sauteed mushrooms

My family and I brought my father here for a Father's Day lunch. A brew house was a perfect place for us to bring my beer-loving father. We started off our meal with three appetizers: The Scotch Egg, the local cheese board, and the Charcuterie board. Each were devoured by our family and enjoyed thoroughly. While I can't speak for my other family members, I did sample each of their meals (a salmon dish, and a chicken dish) and they were both quite delicious. However, I can speak in detail about what I ordered. I ordered the Pepper Crusted Hangar Steak (cooked rare---accompanied by fried onions, roasted carrots, and garlic fries). It was the best steak I've had. It was tender, juicy, flavorful, and the marbling was so beautiful. Loved the red wine reduction it was sitting in. The carrots were crunchy and not overcooked. The fries were nothing spectacular, they tasted like fries. Overall, the meal was very fine. I ended the meal with the Brownie Stack with peanut brittle bites. Definitely one of the more decadent brownies I've had. Very smooth and rich. Our waiter was pleasant, patient, and attentive. He replaced our silverware after every course (which is a nice urbane change from your run of the mill restaurant). Our water glasses were always full. Overall the prices for everything seemed fair comparable to the level of service and quality of food we received. That being said, I must deduct a star for pricing. As someone who does not drink, I found it to be quite frustrating and expensive that because I ordered a seltzer (as the designated driver), I was charged $3.00 each time I refilled an 8oz glass of seltzer water. I believe that especially when the majority of the table is drinking alcohol, the soda and seltzer water should be free of cost. Or if you insist on charging me, at the very least give me a glass of soda water actually worth $3. An 8oz glass isn't going to cut it.

Solid beers but mediocre food. As other reviewers have mentioned, service can be painfully slow because students are training so expect to be there a while. Don't waste your time on the pretzel rolls; they were not fresh or hot. Had a fresh delicious salad, but the fish and chips left something to be desired; not crispy nor hot. Would go back but for the beers

Went for Lunch Food - 4/5. The multigrain loaf they give you has good flavor but it is very messy. I love the plating design of the mini cutting board but for something so crumbly, it wasn't very practical. Crumbs and seeds spilling everywhere is not pleasant. The salmon was cooked well; crispy skin and juicy meat. The roasted vegetables are good as well and while the sauce is a little strong on the tartness, it gives flavor to the whole dish. The farro risotto was too strong on cheese for my personal tastes but the texture of the grains were good. Service - 4/5. Attentive and professional. Value - 3/5. The food was good but not as great as I expected from the Culinary Institute. I know that the money goes towards the school but $18 for such a small portion during lunch time is pretty expensive. I can't see myself choosing to come here over the other restaurants available. Parking - Private Garage (Free)

First time at the Brew House, but will visit again to try the brew, & we support local businesses, and want to give these students another chance. Ordered: burger, steak, non-alcoholic beverages Pro: friendly service, food flavor Con: small menu selection, uncomfortable seating, service was a bit slow, meat temperature - medium came well done, & bun was a tad dry.

The culinary institute is a gorgeous place to visit and they've got a wide variety of restaurants where the students get real world training ... post road brew house is one of the rotating "pop up" themed eateries. We visited for lunch on a Wednesday and they had everything in the menu except for two of the beers we wanted to try ... so in our flight of four beers we had the three they had available, doubling up on one. Love the way they serve the little glasses of beer, in a wooden box with little chalk board surfaces in front of each one so you always know what you're drinking. Also tried a seasonal cocktail of bourbon ginger and hard cider very tasty. They brought a hearty little loaf of bread on a board with a knife and we started with fresh baked soft pretzels .... they varied a bit from what was described in the menu... one of them was a colorful twist flavored with pink hibiscus and rich yellow turmeric... a nice change from the other two classic pretzels . The dipping sauces were a tangy pink yogurt, beer cheese that tasted more like a gravy, and spinach artichoke dip that was tasty but too thick, more of a spread For entrees we chose chicken and waffles -- the tamarind apricot sauce ladled on it was thick too , almost a jam, and very assertively tangy. Personally I love the sharp tart flavor of tamarind but I can see where some might not dig it. The chicken and waffles themselves were hot, crispy, fresh and tasty. Our other choice was the crab cake ... delicious and loaded with huge lumps of crab. Again the lemon mustard sauce was extremely tart ... not a problem for me but those who aren't such big fans of lemon might find it unbalanced We couldn't leave without trying dessert because this eatery is run by the pastry students... the buttermilk cake with candied bacon, buttermilk ice cream and lemon sauce was a standout... and a rich chocolate cake was a winner too both very elegant in presentation Overall a great meal lots of fun trying new things meeting some of the students and strolling the lovely grounds

Visited this pop up based solely on trying the CIA made beer. Was disappointed in the selection, they don't make any stouts or dark beer, so I wasn't able to try theirs. The bottled offerings while good, were terribly overpriced and since I can buy them anywhere and enjoy them at home, I passed. Hubs had a CIA brewed In state IPA, which he thought was quite good and only $6. Flights of 4 for $12 seemed very reasonable. The decor is a bit odd, and honestly it felt thrown together. Some of the tables, including the one we were sat at, looked like they were pulled from storage or Red Lobster. Our table was uneven(which they fixed when we mentioned it) and worn around the edges. The chairs are very hard wood and uncomfortable. The bar area looked nice, but there was also a strange grey plastic palm tree replete with plastic coconuts and wrapped in white lights that was hideous actually. The place was missing the gastropub vibe I was expecting. It was a Friday night and we were surprised at how many open tables there were. We had reservations, but I don't think they are needed. They offer a few outdoor tables, which is always a nice option in good weather. Menu selections are limited. I had the cassoulet ($18), which was very tasty. He had fish and chips($18). His fries were perfect and the fish itself (skate) was delicious. The batter on the other hand was lacking. Soggy in most parts, only crispy on edges. The remoulade that came for dipping was delicious and the side of cole slaw was fresh and crispy, not swimming in mayo or soggy! Service was haphazard, but I find this to be true at all the CIA restos since it's students serving and they are learning. With so many good brew/gastropubs in the area, it's hard to recommend this as a must visit. Personally, I'd go to Mill House for their menu + beer selection and overall vibe, instead.

Had a great variety of beers.

The food was melt in your mouth delicious. My husband was actually moaning when he ate his oyster appetizer. His steak was perfectly cooked, and my mac and cheese was impeccable. Service was amazing in the beginning but towards dessert (which was sinfully delicious) became slower, and i felt like it took eternity to get our check. This Pop-Up is a must visit while it is still open.

came to try a different place at CIA with my family and we were not disappointed. Casual brew house ambiance was perfect and exactly what we were looking for after the trip to visit my sister who was in school at Marist. It was great to support the learning CIA students and the food was great! - visited 4/13/17

Looking forward to seeing what this location has to offer. The Post Road House was EXPENSIVE and just OK.

We ordered that every time we have eaten here in the past. Weird burger combos were noted. I asked about a burger with gorgonzola cheese - instead of the feta cheese that came on one of the burgers. I was told no - they don't have any. Their other restaurant right next door makes a gorgonzola burger. They are always going back and forth to get stuff - why couldn't they just say yes, and grab a bit of gorgonzola from next door? Note that this was around 5:00 pm and there was just one other table occupied, and two people at the bar who were leaving. I wanted a burger, but didn't like any of the weird choices, so I got a Reuben sandwich. The fries were good, but for $17, I would have hoped the corned beef would be good as well. It wasn't very moist or fresh - in fact there were weird brown areas on the meat. I chalked it up to a bad choice. My partner ordered the Philly steak sandwich on a baguette. He has had the French dip sandwich there in the past and liked it. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu, so he ordered the closest thing. He said he would not order it again, and that says a lot. I tasted it - and it was just not very good. Sorry to say but it is unlikely we will be back.
