Wanted to explore the tunnels. The tunnels have got to have better food. This was a miss, I can't even really explain why? It was giving cafeteria. Even the water. Two word review: no thanks.

I ate here with a few of my coworkers. They said the food was good and wanted to take me there. When looking at the menu, there are a lot of options. It's a little pricey but not too bad. I picked the Mac and cheese with chicken and shrimp and I liked it! It came right out of the oven and was really hot. Very cheese, but almost too cheesy. I did like having the vegetables in it and the seasoning on the shrimp was delicious. The restaurant was really busy because we went at lunch time. This is a very busy location, if you don't make reservations, you may not be able to get a seat. There wasn't much staff interaction or greeting from those who served us. Maybe because of the lunch rush. It was also very loud so it was hard to talk with my coworkers at the table.

Located in the tunnels under 1111 Louisiana this place specializes in salads, a few comfort foods that do not scream foul at it's sister location in the Galleria. You will not find many of the menu items here that you have had in the Galleria because here is more geared to the fast paced setting of the downtown business clientele. The hours here are 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. You will get good service here from the opening time to about noon or when everybody decides to all come in at the same time so after 12:30 pm your on your own, don't say I didn't warn you. There is an auxillery stand in front of this establishment where you can get a quick sandwich, cookie, drink or soup but do not expect to sit inside the restaurant and get the soup that is offered at the outside stand unless it is the same as the inside. Don't ask me why I just know. All in all this is your cut above place to go if you are tired of the fast food subways, McDonald's or whatever but do not expect to get any alcohol here. Average price per person I would say would be about $15 with a drink hovering with the tax and tip. Your choice of beverages are Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Assorted Hot Tea, regular tea, organic bottled tea and coffee. The soup of the day almost every Monday is Chicken Tortilla, the other days it alternates depending on what the cooks decide to make.

(This review is for the Post Oak Express) Tasty, cheap and fast. Located just outside the downtown Post Oak Grill restaurant with a limited menu. Although the website says otherwise, there are at least a couple of Post Oak Grill Express locations downtown. I have a coworker who swears by the POG-Ex fish tacos. I gave them a try and was impressed. Less than $9 and includes a drink and a cookie. The tacos were very good. A couple of guys with me had chicken sandwiches and didn't think too much of them, especially when they paid more than $10 each. POG-Ex had turkey chili and chicken tortilla soup that looked good. I will have to try that sometime in the future.

Ahi tuna lunch - very fresh greens.

3.5 stars up. Rounding up to 4 stars. This was a delivered meal for an all day meeting. We had a full page to choose from sandwiches or lunch salads. I chose the Ahi tuna lunch salad. The delivery girl was super friendly and happy. Upon opening my salad I also found some other goodies. Everything was packed well. No lopsided meal! The salad dressing which if I recall correctly was like a light balsamic mix. The greens and accent veggies were uber fresh and consisted of a real good variety. Not your normal wild herbs or romaine. The only negative was that my ahi tuna was sliced quite thick and cooked medium which it could have cooked more in the container. The ahi tuna had real good flavor despite having the above mentioned issues. I would assume also the restaurant was playing it safe on a delivery. Would I order it again? Heck yeah! I would specify thin cut and rare though. I also received homemade crusty looking bread and butter which I didn't eat. There were a cluster of red grapes and a decent peanut butter cookie also. I was actually impressed overall. So many times when meals are delivered or picked up to go I have found disappointing smaller versions. I never ate in their restaurant yet but got full and really enjoyed how all the flavors came together. I would recommend them for delivery of business lunches. Yelp review #359

Chicken fried chicken w/peppercorn gravy, mashed potatoes and fresh veggies
    Kris P.

Working downtown and eating the same things in walking distance can get a little boring, I took a chance and explored the tunnels a little more today and stumbled across this place. Great for business lunches, and also a step up from your typical eatery in the tunnels. White table linens and complimentary passion tea on the table not so bad I must say! I had the chicken fried chicken w/ peppercorn gravy and fresh veggies which consisted of green beans and carrots. Really good, the chicken was thin and was not all covered in gravy which I like. It was topped in mushrooms which I'm not a fan of, but it actually wasn't so bad. The chicken was well flavored, could've used a bit more gravy but overall it was pretty good. I would give this place another shot!

All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We had a wonderful waiter and gave us a lot of recommendation. The cocktail "come and take it" was balance and flavorful. The crab samosa is a hit. It is crammed with crab stuffing. It is amazing and you get two different kind of dipping sauce with it, Tartar and butter. This was the first that any restaurant has ever done for us, but they actually split our soup in half for us so what's pictured is the half the soup. The duck pad Thai was amazing!!! I wish I had that instead. I had the Caribbean braised oxtail. I wasn't a big fan. I felt like I was tasting more of the sauce and carbs. I asked for the mango and spices on the side. The mango was a nice plate cleanser in between bites. The ambience was really nice , definitely upscale compared to their Travis's Carr location and something that you should dress up for. Food: - Chicken liver pate: 10/10 SOOOO good! The bread that comes with it is amazing too. There is some sweet jam that is paired with it also. If you don't think we're ordering enough food, it'd be nice to be informed that the portions are small if you're concerned about us being unsatisfied. As our plates came out, they were served with a perfunctory description of what we ordered and nothing else was said before they rushed off to be somewhere else. We don't expect to be doted on, but the overall vibe was standoffish on a quiet morning. Given they prefer full orders up front for pacing purposes, and our server was enforcing cups on coasters, we thought it was odd that our plates weren't refreshed between courses. I don't mind reusing the jam and butter covered plate to eat my polenta, but it conflicted with what the restaurant is trying to project. Overall, food was good, service was weird. He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. The entrees come out about 15 mins later, and we take our first bites and we both thought, oh no, if we share the other person across from me isn't going to like this dish because it's too salty. I tried the steak first and noticed the sauce being extra salty, then I tried the pasta and the pasta was way worse, but the scallops didn't seem to be affected. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

Prior to this a manager did ask if we were comfortable at our table, due to my mobility issues. If mobility impaired it's best to sit on the main level, especially if the restroom is needed. Otherwise, there are about 4-5 steps, to go through the kitchen. The kitchen is a huge process!!! I was impressed!Service was pretty good. They were knowledgeable, and got our orders correct. At times I felt our questions were answered a bit snippy, but it didn't persist. My party did feel a bit rushed by staff asking to pick up plates in the middle of our meal. This was a bit disruptive, because I would move plates to the edge if I want them removed. The food was really good. The cons for me is the 1% cutlery charge to help tip the kitchen staff, in addition to the 20% regular tip. They apparently do this to not raise menu prices. It's not a make or break thing, I've never seen it before nor was I made aware of it. It might be on the menu somewhere...idk. Additionally, valet parking is available for a fee. Most restaurants offer a birthday dessert, but this one did not. I would return to enjoy a few menu items like the queso, G & G Salad, and the oysters! These were really good. So for me, it really depends on what one wants to experience.

I ordered the pork chop and swapped the carrots for broccolini. The pork chop had a beautiful char and was full of flavor--slightly undercooked, yes, but still delicious enough to carry the whole meal. I do wish they had mashed potatoes on the menu, though... it would have made it perfect. We also shared the Brussels sprouts, and sadly, they missed the mark this time. Dry and bitter, nothing like the saucy, flavorful version I've had before--maybe just the late hour catching up with the kitchen. But even so, that pork chop... it lingered in the best way. And sometimes, that's all you need.

You can tell the staff really cares about each other. I got the fried chicken piccata and pimento cheese fritters and one of the whiskey cocktails. And I mean to tell you I CLEANED MY PLATE. there was nothing left. Everything was so fresh and seasoned and delicious. A few weeks later I came on a Saturday night with friends and the service was a bit slower and table options were limited. We were still comfortable and just had a to wait a long time. We got our appetizers before our drinks. The crab toast wasn't my fave but I liked the pimento cheese fritters again. My friend and I both got the shrimp and grits dish and once again cleaned our plates. My other friend got the chicken picatta and loved it as well. I got a chicken to go.

There's two homes converted into a restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating as well. It was a beautiful, sunny day so we decided to sit under the shade outside. For drinks we ordered sangria and pineapple mimosas. The blueberry ginger pancakes seemed like a hit based on reviews so I ordered that as my entree. The portion size was huge so it was very filling. The ginger was not overwhelming at all and really complemented the sweetness of the blueberry toppings. I also ordered a the pork belly deviled eggs which were pretty yummy as well. My fiancé ordered the gumbo which was very savory and filled with the perfect combo of shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage. The service was good as well. Our waiter checked on us several times throughout our meal. Very solid brunch spot in the heights!
