    Spanakopita

When you enter Poseidon, you can feel the love in this family-run Greek bakery. Grab a savory spinach and cheese "spanakopita" or meat pie "kreatopita" for lunch, and bring a baklava or an apricot cheese strudel home for dessert--you won't be disappointed. The pies are large and bursting with ingredients and flavor. The spanakopita was delicate and flaky, with the perfect feta-to-spinach ratio. The kreatopita is packed with ground beef and herbs, making it a flavor bomb in your mouth. The pies are big; one will suffice for a meal, but you can't leave without dessert. Pick from a wide variety of tantalizing desserts. Chat with the family who runs the bakery. They will answer any questions you have to help your decision-making process. This is a gem in the heart of Hell's Kitchen reminding people of a simpler time. When you find someplace special like Poseidon you must keep in close touch your heart.

They've been making phyllo dough in-house for 99 years and their pastries are simply amazing. I especially love how many of them are soaked in a very generous amount of honey sauce. Everything I tried was amazing. Baklava: A classic and a must-have benchmark to order. Theirs had a very thick layer of minced walnut that made this really hearty. But the star, of course, is their specialty phyllo dough. On top it's thin, buttery and flaky. On the bottom it compacts a bit under the weight of all those nuts and soaks up tons of sweet sticky sauce. The texture contrast from top to bottom is just amazing. Alfali: I actually like pistachios more than walnuts, so had to give this a try. Another very generous dense layer of minced nuts. Here the phyllo dough was wound tightly around the nuts so it was a bit more dense all around. Tasty though. And same sticky sweet moist bottom. Cherry Strudel: Not quite a strudel as I'm used to, but an opportunity for their phyllo dough to shine with some sweet fruit, so why not. And I do love cooked cherries so couldn't think of a better pairing. Finikia: Their moistest cookie here since they soak it in honey after baking. Grainy in texture, compared to the flaky phyllo, but it's still nice to mix things up. Great with coffee.

Baklava & Galaktoboureko. GOOD. The Baklava cigar was deceptive looking appearing very small but was power packed with plenty of crushed Walnuts loaded inside. The Galaktoboureko was really GOOD being very sweet without being annoying. I commend the owner LILI FABLE for providing EXCELLENT Customer Service. RECOMMEND.

All I can say is AMAZING. Literally this spot is a gem and I wish I could eat these pastries every day. If I could describe the food and service here in one would, it would be genuine. The atmosphere was hole in the wall, but that's what all good pastry shops are. If you are in NYC, this is a MUST.

One of the best bakeries in Hells Kitchen, hands down! Everything always taste fresh and authentic. And the people who work here seem like family, displaying a genuine Greek hospitality.

At first I skipped this bakery then said "F***, what have I DONE?" Came here, saw all their Greek pastries, then decided to BUY DUM I tried to slim my waistline but this place gave me a WIDE ONE I guess that's just what happens when you go to the POSEIDON So now I've broken buttons on each pair of jeans I've TRIED ON I tried to buy a belt but don't even fit in the WIDE ONE I've got these massive love handles and there's no way to HIDE EM I guess that's just what happens when you go to the POSEIDON WHAT It is an adorable Greek Bakery which has a bunch of great Greek stuff on offer. It's one of my favourites in New York City, and the woman here is so incredibly nice. To be a great bakery in New York you have to beat off (not literally) some amazingly stiff (minds out of gutter) competition, because it's one of the very best cities for bakeries in the world (despite many of them being overrated) (others are underrated, massively, so it balances out). But this place beats off a lot of competition (stop thinking in such a dirty way we're talking about a bakery you pervs), and ends up being my favourite Greek Bakery in all of New York City. And that's despite there being lots of good other ones. Also, it's frightened Manhattan... that's supposed to say right in Manhattan, thanks voice dictation... within walking distance of Times Square, which is a huge added bonus for all of you that are on foot and in Midtown. Most of the best bakeries would be a long-ass walk down the island (or even over in Queens or Brooklyn), but this one can be very swiftly (not Taylor) accessed from the TSQ. Come and check it out for yourself. Lovely service, perfect products, amazing bakery, five stars all the way, and puts at least 73% of the hyped, hipster Manhattan and Brooklyn bakeries to shamey shame. And if Side A of my cassette album has finished, it's time to Put-side-B-on. Which is actually why they call it the Putsidebon Bakery.

A staple of Hell's Kitchen. There are two types of people: Poseidon 10+ year regulars who don't need this review and newbies like myself who need a review go try it. Don't let the outside intimidate you, the staff is so kind and welcoming. It's all delicious but If you need a recommendation, try the almond baklava! Warning: sweets can be VERY sweet so drink with water and be ready to split

This gem of a Greek Bakery has something to satisfy everyone. From sweet to savory, or whatever you're jonesing for, you'll find something to satisfy that craving. They even have frozen, ready to bake items (sweet and savory) in their fridge! My to go goody bag: ~ Kataif (walnuts, almonds, cashews) - A very fine vermicelli-like pastry made with shredded phyllo dough; stuffed with walnuts, almonds, cashews; dipped in honey. LOVED this! ~ Afali (pistachios) - This "birds nest" is stuffed with chopped pistachios, surrounded by phyllo dough; dipped in honey. This one was slightly too sweet for my tastes, but still delicious. Lots more to explore at Poseidon Bakery! I shall be back soon!

The orange has a base made of chocolate Rice Krispies. All of them have more fruity filling than the mousse. They are very fragile. I recommend eating there if you can. Finding can be a challenge because it's busy and there aren't many seats. I got mine to go just to be taken to the park across the street . The mushroom kind are totally ruined. It has strawberriy jelly and it was a mess. The orange one was almost ruined too. The mango has some diced mangoes. I devoured three of them instantly. Definitely come back to try more.

There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive.
