I placed an order for four for takeaway and was initially surprised at the $65 tab. But everything was portioned for family style and we had enough for another dinner after we had eaten. The chicken and beef ribs were excellent! The brisket had a nice flavor but was poorly sliced. Spanish sausages, an appetizer, could have been a main course, and was delicious. Portuguese steak was also quite good and they provided three pieces. this made up for the pulled pork which was a bit bland. Avoid the French fries which were soggy and limp. The cole slaw had no flavor but was at least fresh. Black beans and rice were... well, black beans and rice. Now that we have tried (and liked) Pork Chops and know to order family style we will be back. read more

What a great find. I had been to Mel's Bagels in this strip mall but never noticed this fine Portuguese spot. No worries, Yelp tells me where everything is. My son and I arrived very hungry. We ordered up front and took a seat in the bustling place. A full rack of pork ribs and fries came right out. Ribs are on the smaller side but they were delicious! Not overcooked, not underdone. Just right. We dispatched them in short order and asked for another eight ribs. Consistency is important. These ribs were just as delicious. By the way, the fries were not your frozen variety. Really good dipped in their hot sauce. Pork Chops has an extensive menu of Portuguese specialties. We'll be back soon to try them. read more

I am Portuguese and can't believe I haven't found this spot before after living in the area for over 10 years! I was recommended to go here and have already been back twice. The food is good Portuguese food high quality and fresh. So far I have gotten chicken, sweet potato fries, and regular fries. They have all been absolutely delicious! Brought food home for the family and they loved it too. Really happy to have found this place. I recommend ordering for pick up so that you don't have to wait (roughly 25 minutes) for the food to cook. Decently priced! read more

We took a break from shopping this evening and stopped in for a bite. I had heard good things about this place and decided to finally it. Absolutely delicious! I had the ribs with a side of black beans and plantains. The ribs were perfectly seasoned, juicy, tender, falling off the bone. Simply luscious. They are cooked over a charcoal grill,not in a smoker, so they did have a bit of char on the outside, but ... in a good way, if you know what I mean. There are delicious sauces served on the side, but the ribs don't need them at all. My husband had a brisket sandwich with a side of cole slaw . Also, very tender and tasty. All the sides were good too. The only downside about this place (and the reason I'm only giving 4 stars) is that the dining room is not very nice. It's clean, and the tables and chairs are neat enough, but the place is run-down. The overhead lighting is harsh. I just wish they would put as much care and attention into the dining room as they do with their food. read more

I just have to give this place another review. I've been her a few times and the bbq has always been good. I've stopped in for take out and they were very busy. This place is amazing. When you walk in the door you immediately smell and can see the chicken, pork, and beef rotating over the coals. The portions are large as in definite leftovers. We've tried the skirt steak(most tender I'veever had), picadino, and Hawaiian pork (so tasty) and all were delicious! The corn bread is fresh baked, cole slaw tasty, and plantains very good. Although there are some tables to eat in, I would say this is more for takeout or catering. We will be going back soon! read more

When in Flemington, I always stop at Pork Chops for a great meal so with my son's graduation party approaching, I thought it a good idea to have them cater the affair. I informed management that we were having had about 75 people attend and we wanted beef brisket and chicken for the main entree. Along with that we ordered sides of cole slaw, black beans and mixed veggies. The food arrived right on time and man was there a lot of it. The brisket was fall apart tender and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Veggies are prepared in a fairly simple but tasty manner.with good taste. Black beans were very good and the cole slaw was home made and excellent. What I really like about Pork Chops is somehow the food, while not heavily seasoned, always has a distinct taste that doesn't come off as trendy or new wave fare but just darn good charcoal BBQ. Plus as I mentioned earlier, PCs didn't skimp on portions so there was food a plenty for all! I highly recommend them for either a nice casual dinner or for your catered affair. read more

Went yesterday and got the Picadinho and wasn't too pleased. Cheap skirt steak and cheap small shrimp that were both chewy. Not sure if it's "traditional" to leave the bay leaves in there but there were a bunch that I had to dig through my meal to pick out which was annoying. Rice was very plain as well. Don't let the name fool you. This is a "Portuguese BBQ" spot. So expect lots of fries, rice and black beans. Typical stuff you would find from a Portuguese BBQ spot. This is not a bad thing at all but the name and logo had be expecting southern comfort BBQ. I got a whole chicken and wife had beef ribs....rice and black beans as side of course. Both were good but nothing special. Pretty standard food for a place like this. While waiting for my to-go order, for whatever reason, a metric ton of smoke came billowing out of the grill. The entire restaurant was FILLED with a thick smog. After a couple minutes the smoke cleared out but the place still smelled like a campfire and my clothes stunk! If I had been eating dinner while this happened, it would of really bothered me. Not a single employee came over to explain or apologize for the massive amount of smoke. To summarize, if you want some pretty standard Portuguese BBQ, order take out from this place. Don't eat there. read more

I have eaten here pretty regularly since moving into the area. They do some great Portuguese BBQ. Their ribs are tender and not tough like what you get any many places. I have tried a few other items on their menu and have been very satisfied. They recently provided some catering for my wedding and myself and the attendees were very happy. After spending nearly 3 hours at the local Subaru dealer, I was starving. I asked where would be a good place to grab some food before heading home, and they replied "you like Barbecue?". Sold. Pulling up to the little strip mall, the place doesn't look like your typical BBQ joint, but as soon as you walk in and see chicken rotating on the spit behind the counter and smell the sweet aroma of meat on the grill, you know you've come to the right place. My boyfriend and I split the 1/2 chicken and beef short ribs combo with sweet potato fries and cole slaw. That had to be some if the juiciest chicken I've ever eaten! Forget utensils, it was so tender I pulled a Medieval Times and ate it with my hands. Thankfully I found my table manners and used a knife and fork for the short rib steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium. I didn't taste much of any seasoning besides salt, but that's all you need when you cook meat this well! I would have given this place 5 stars because the food was out of this world, but sadly, because of the service I had to knock it down. Based on service alone I would have given it one star, even none if I could. The young woman who took our order was in a pretty unpleasant mood and when we asked her any questions, she rolled her eyes, gave us quick snappy answers and treated us like dumb patrons. Her attitude towards us was quite disrespectful throughout our time there and could even take the cake as one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. The meat here is done very well. When I first entered, I thought it would be a Southern BBQ joint, but found it to be a Portuguese BBQ instead. The picanha was perfect with a nice smoky flavor, and the beef ribs were very tasty. The spanish rice was good with the black beans. If you dig portuguese BBQ, try this place. For under 20 bucks you can order chicken and ribs with 2 sides. It also comes with a couple pieces of pickled vegetables, which I love. It will leave 2 people full and happy. For a small place, they have a lot of throughput. I went there on a sat around 12 and all of their tables were full with either people eating or waiting for their takeout. I also tried their chorizo sandwich with side of fries for $6 which you can't beat. I'll pass next time on the BBQ chicken sandwich, and go straight for the chorizo. The ribs flavor is spot on, in american BBQ the idea is about the smoke, here the slow cook yields the super tender rib with a charcoal char. Different - but I do think the overall flavor stands up as a different but equivalent quality to good true american q. Empanadas, yes here the salt was a little heavy, but true pastry, baked well ( had take out and drove 30 min home - these were still rockin') Sweet plantains - on the mark. Stopped here with the family now knowing what to expect - it was clearly a no-frills BBQ. We tried a few international sodas while we waited for the food to come, which was fun, but the wait wasn't long at all. The Hawaiian BBQ was juicy, sweet and exactly what you should expect. the pound of pulled pork was juicy, and served with BBQ sauce on the side. It was enough to feed two hungry teens who made sandwiches putting it on the fresh-baked white-bread they served. The corn bread was served as 6-inch fresh-from-the-oven loaves, more than enough to share. I suspect we'll return to this place when we pass though Flemington. read more

Went there because I saw a friend dining there. Saw several plates go by and said I had to try it. I got the Half Ribs Half Chicken dinner to go. Really like the ribs needed more BBQ sauce but still very happy with the platter and will be going back again on my next trip there. The place is not much to look at which is really what I prefer. Focus on the food. With out a doubt this will be on my top ten for Flemington. read more
