Wow, what a hidden gem! We started off with two delicious appetizers that the three of us shared. They were so good we ordered another round! Then we each ordered a dish to our liking and we finished every morsel. On top of all that, it's right next door to a well-stocked liquor store, which solved the BYOB need quite well. My wife and I recently moved into the area and she likes Thai food so we had to find a place nearby. This location is only 5 minutes from our house. We chose to dine in for our first experience. We started with the spring rolls as an appetizer (though I wanted to get the combination plate which comes with chicken sate, beef sate, curry puffs & spring rolls). We both got red curry for our entrees. My wife chose chicken while I went with beef. You have 5 levels of spice to choose from. We went with level 3, which was just enough spice if you like spicy food (e.g., wasabi on your sushi). Everything was excellent. There were a few other customers in the dining area. The noise level was appropriate for the number of people in the moderate sized room. If you choose to dine in, it is BYOB but luckily there's a liquor store next door. read more

My party of 4 arrived at the restaurant at around 6:30. There were about 4 other occupied tables and only 1 server, who gave us our menus with delicious-looking food selections. She was obviously over-worked and didn't come back to our table for quite a while to take our orders. We noticed that none of the other parties had food on their tables, which indicated to us that the kitchen was probably understaffed as well. Server apologetically told us she'd be right with us, but after waiting for over 15 minutes to have our orders taken, we decided to leave the restaurant to go elsewhere for dinner. I stopped by for lunch with a friend, and we left pleasantly satisfied! I loved the general ambiance -- it very very chill and quiet. We were seated and served very quickly. We ordered the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles under the lunch specials (we got a free side salad with it), as well as some Thai tea. Woohoo! So glad my crazy day brought me here for lunch. Went to two restaurants today that were both coincidently closed, which brought me to Savory Thai. Ordered: Duck Tamarind- comes with jasmine rice and steamed veggies. The sweet tamarind sauce is sweet & savory and the duck was crispy without being breaded. Very hard to make duck both tender AND crispy! Tropical Duck Salad- CRISPY CRUNCHY DUCK, yum! This salad truly knocked my socks off. I asked for the highest level of spice (5) and they didn't disappoint. Hate when I order someone extremely spicy and it comes out mild. Savory Thai has gone down in food quality and serving portions. I understand that in today's economy, many restaurants have had to increase prices and down-sized their portions--but you should sacrifice the taste. Even their Thai-hot dishes have had their heat watered down. When we started coming here, about 8 years ago, the Thai taste was awesome, their rice so aromatic, and the servings had us asking for take out boxes--sadly, that is no longer the case. It has now become an okay place for take out, but nothing to rave about or bring our out of town friends. Our new standard and reference point is Acacia Thai in Phillipsburg, NJ--they know how to make great tasting Thai dishes and for those brave enough, their Thai-hot is seriously hot! I met several friends for lunch. The service and ambiance of the restaurant were fine, it's a pretty place. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu and vegetables its was on the lunch menu. There were very few vegetables in my dish, a few carrots and maybe a 6 halves of green beans. I ordered fried rice level 3 spicy. There were chunks of unseasoned white rice throughout the platter. It was bland and was NOT spicy at all. I called to explain this and I was rushed off the phone. The lady said she would make it again. I was excited when I went to pick it up because I thought it would be more flavorful and spicy like I originally requested. My husband, young son, and I enjoy the treat that Saviry Thai is. We enjoy the pineapple fried rice very much that goes with the massamun curry dish. Maybe most wouldn't combine those in a meal but we found ways to fill in the hunger gaps. My son's favorite dish is the Roti that he wishes never ended along with the satay for dipping. Savory Thai is by far the best Thai food in flemington. We had dinner here last night and everything was beyond perfect. The service was really good. The restaurant is really pretty and makes me feel like I'm having dinner at a fine dinning but semi casual. They plays Thai songs at the restaurant which is nice. I started with the golden rings, dumplings, and beef satay. They all were so good. The superstar of the night is my entree, Duck tamarind, the meat is nice and juicy and the skin is crispy. Inside is beautifully decorated and the seating, while a bit too intimate with other tables, is comfortable and upscale. We went for lunch and the restaurant was packed with people and there was only one server. This didn't seem to be an issue as she was able to serve everyone promptly and in a friendly manner. Food was good. We've been looking for a place that does Tom Yum soup that is as tasty as a local Thai place that closed over a year ago, and still haven't found it. During my last visit I had the chicken satay which was prepared perfectly and came with not only a good many skewers, but also two rather nice sauces. For my main, I had a slightly spicy seafood dish which was amazing. It's important to note that Savory Thai is BYOB...But if you forget, there is a reasonably priced liquor store next door. Having been to Savory Thai a few times, the only concern I ever have is the service which can be inconsistent. This visit, service was prompt and pleasant. Went to this place after a long day of work and softball game. Came here super hungry. Ordered the beef sate (resturant spelling), pad thai, drunken noodles. The beef sate was delicious though the peanut sauce was mediocre. I typically read reviews prior to ordering but out of hunger ordered what I thought were staples to a thai resturant. The pad thai is overly sweet and doesnt taste like your traditional pad thai. There are several reviews noting the pad thai inconsistencies. The same was for the drunken noodles. While the drunken noodles weren't the traditional taste, it was good for its uniqueness. I wouldn't go back for it though. Side note, for a Friday night there were 4 tables being served with around 12 people in the restaurant including myself. Food came out quickly but the attentiveness from staff was lacking. read more

This place came highly recommended by my sister, so naturally we strolled in for her birthday. I called ahead of time since we were a large group (8 + 4 kids). The table was already set up for us, which was appreciated. The hostess seemed a bit lost though when I told her I called for the table of 8 and told me she had to ask if she could accommodate our party on short notice .... the restaurant was empty. The manager came out and we got everything sorted through. It is located in a plaza with multiple other establishments. Bonus that it is BYOB and located next to a liquor store that has a great selection of booze. The store is a decent size with 10+ tables, good for large groups. 1/2 Food The food was either a hit or miss here. For apps, we decided to go with avocado rolls and chicken satay. The avocado rolls were definitely a miss, it was simply avocados rolled in an egg-roll with no flavor (9$ for 2 egg- rolls) whereas the chicken satay was better. However, the consistency was off. Some chicken satay sticks were super soft and delicious whereas others tasted as though it was frozen chicken making it super hard and chewy. On to the entrees now which were another interesting turn of events. We ordered the masaman curry, shrimp drunken noodles, chicken pad thai, pineapple fried rice and the rama chicken. The masaman curry was absolutely delicious, it was extremely flavorful and rich, with the additional of the avocado, a perfect meal. The drunken noodles were again, flavorful and awesome, my only complaint was that the noodles were not cut properly so my whole plate were several large noodle. Here is where things turned bad... the chicken pad thai had a very unusual smell to the noodles. The sauce was good, but there was a plastic, vinegar smell to the noodles, so the two orders we had went to waste. The chicken in the rama chicken was cooked but it was hard, every bite, it was a crunch, however again the sauce was good. And lastly, the pineapple fried rice was average, nothing to write home about. 0.75/2 Price For the location of where we were at and the quality of food we got, I felt it was a bit pricey since half of the party didn't get to eat their food. 1.5/2 Service There was one server for the whole restaurant. The place started to fill up as the evening progressed so it was harder and harder to get service. Overall, it was a neutral experience. If I could give a 0, I would, for the entirely rude way we were treated. We've eaten here a number of times and generally tolerated the wait staff who struggle with our language. We do things like point to the menu and ask them to repeat back. Tonight we decided to try a different appetizer - a spring roll that included seafood. When it came, we each ate a half and we commented that we couldn't find the seafood in our rolls. When we called one of the wait staff over, she commented that the other wait staff had made a mistake. We asked it to be removed from our bill. When the bill came, it was, but they added in the mistake appetizer instead. When we questioned, they argued and then walked away with our bill and returned with it off the bill but the bill was tossed onto our table with absolutely no comment. SO RUDE! read more
