This Chinese restaurant had been here for awhile. Stopped bye to get my take out orders. Been craving for their, young chow fried rice, hot sour soup for this rainy little bit cold weather, crab rangoon-one their best appetizers and last but not least, their famous fried chicken wings, one of the best. Don't forget to ask for their dumpling sauce, not free anymore but definitely try it and you'll love it. Prices went up, not to be surprised. Everything is going up, expect that. Don't let this high prices ruin your cravings once in awhile. "We only live once, eat and be happy but don't forget to workout. Hunan gives big portions and they're freshly made from scratch. Ambiance is nice. Place is clean and you'll see a fish tank with aruwanas. Relaxing to watch while you're waiting for your orders. There are also tables for dine ins. This Chinese restaurant had been here for a long time. Staffs are polite, friendly and nice. read more

Standard Chinese fare at a good value. For us, take out only. Consistent, good food. Love their General Tso tofu. I went late one night craving hot and sour soup, they made it fresh for me and it was the best I ever had! This is the go to Chinese take out in the area. read more

I love this place and always have. I've never had anything here that disappointed. We've been coming here 20+ years. It's pretty much a takeout place but they do have a few tables. Last night we ordered through DoorDash for the first time and were a bit nervous because of the bad weather and being a Sunday night. We received our order in 40 minutes as promised. It was a positive experience all around. It was a little more expensive but it was okay with us--we were still out of power and couldn't cook at home and felt too icky to go anywhere. The quick service, delicious food, and ease of ordering/delivery was exactly what we needed! read more

Went to pick up food and was in line. I saw a guy who just got his food and noticed the bottom of the bag was saturated with oil. I brought it to his attention. He went back and they repacked it. I picked up my food and did not notice any issues and put it in my truck. When I got home I picked up the bag and the bottom gave out spilling all the food in the driveway. I paid $53.00 and the dog ended up eating well. I reported this to Hunan Wok and all they could say was, I'm sorry. They saved 5 cents for an outer plastic bag and lost a customer. Great business sense. read more

Food was very good and portions are of normal size. I will definitely be eating here again.

best chinese food ever! the sesame chicken is amazing and i love their pork spare ribs. their service is always quick and friendly.

Great food for take out. Not the best ambience if dining in IMHO. Last few times I've been there at the beginning of 2024 great service overall. One of my favorite dishes is their egg foo young. read more

I've read a lot of bad reviews about this place. I only used because they're the only Chinese around that delivers. I have got the beef and broccoli every time and it has been great!! Delivered in a reasonable amount of time (through grub hub). It's hot, the broccoli is cooked perfect, nice and crunchy and spring roll crunchy too. The portion is also good. I noticed it's larger then my normal go to spot. That's a plus and I think it may even taste better. I love my local Chinese place but sometimes delivery makes all the difference. I recommend. It's been very consistent, at least in my experience. read more

We are newish to Clinton and finding good Chinese in Hunterdon County has been a challenge. Hunan Wok is our go-to with excellent staples like dumplings, generals and steamed chicken. The dumpling sauce is amazing. Service is strong - fast and reliable. For take out the ambiance is fine; there is no longer indoor dining. read more

Good Chinese food. Nice menu, portions are generous. Can't miss with anything you order. Best around that area.

The Kung Pao chicken has lots of flavor, the portions are amazing and Yvonne who is always there is the sweetest! I do not live in the Clinton area but when I'm there I buy a meal to go at Hunan Wok! read more

The worst Chinese food I've ever had! Soggy, bland, greasy, tasteless stuff I was afraid to eat. DON"T ORDER HERE! I made pasta... read more

The food has gotten better since I last ate here a few years ago. They've taken Shrimp with Pepper & Tomatoes off of the menu which is a shame. Overall the food I ordered, garlic chicken, shrimp with vegetables, and hot & sour soup were all great. Try again if you haven't been there in a while. read more

Standard Chinese Food establishment. Honestly everything we've ever had here is good. Not much to look at, but the food is good. We've eaten here hundreds of times over the years and they are consistent. Our favorites are the Young Chow Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken, and the BBQ spare ribs. Their egg rolls and egg drop soup are good. read more

I don't know why this Chinese restaurant only deserve " three stars ", compare most of take-out Chinese restaurants, their food is really delicious . I ordered wonton soup and sweet sour chicken , my son and husband really like them , my husband is a picky person on Chinese food, still think their food is pretty good. When I waiting in the restaurant, I saw people who working there are moving really fast in the kitchen . They deserve a five star review. Good job. We will come back ! read more

Didn't know what to expect. Pleasantly surprised! Try the orange chicken! American style Chinese food of good quality.

This is my go to spot for Chinese food in the area (really it's the only game in town). The thing I like most about this place is that they are consistent - consistently good (not great, not bad). We almost always get the chicken and broccoli and it never disappoints. The sauce is relatively flavorful, it's not super greasy and the broccoli is usually cooked crisp-tender. My favorite dish is the Kung Pao Chicken. It's small diced chicken with crisp veggies and peanuts in a slightly spicy seasoning and light sauce. We have also had their veggie fried rice. They put in a good assortment of veggies and just the right amount. I wish they could somehow "fry" this a little more and make it just a little more flavorful. The kids like their wonton soup - it's classic with no off flavors. I love the taste of their boneless spare ribs but they are frequently a little too tough. The staff are pleasant enough and they have never gotten an order wrong, which is a big deal! read more

This is the best chinese food place in the area. They make the dough for the dumplings which are really good. The flavor of the sauce for the chicken and broccoli is the best I've had. They also have the best egg rolls I've had and make their own mustard and duck sauce. Can't really go wrong here. Great lo mein, soups, dumplings, chicken and broccoli, shrimp fried rice, shrimp in lobster sauce, bbq ribs... the list goes on read more

Hunan Wok makes the best food ever! They are very polite, and make take out orders quickly. The hot and sour soup, and spicy dishes are my husband's favorites. I love the cashew chicken. My daughter prefers orange chicken. The egg rolls and almond cookies are very tasty also. Prices are very reasonable. Try Hunan Wok, and you will be delighted! read more

A great local Chinese restaurant - and the only one in the area that actually delivers (via door dash!). So far we have tried crab Rangoons, short ribs, chicken and broccoli, pork LO mein, egg rolls, egg drop and wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, and shrimp in lobster sauce and everything was delicious! They can be a little on the slow side for pick up - 30-45 mins as opposed to 20 minutes for our other favorite spot, but the food is really good and delivery in the winter months is so convenient. read more

While I didn't order in person so I can't speak for their customer service in person but I ordered through Uber eats and they got done with my order so quick, packed the containers to the brim and even added a few extra things. I was having a rough day so this really made it, thank you guys!! read more

I would leave 1 star but it's not an option. Worst Chinese food ever. Delivery took over an hour, the food was cold. General Tsos chicken worst I've ever had. Chicken is all grissle and breading. FOOD IS GROSS! read more

At this point I'm just so done with this place. I realize anyone can make a mistake or have a bad day, but the veritable buffet of screw ups by this place is really just to much! Their ability to mis-estimate the time it will take for you order to be prepared makes the Post Office look like Creskin! Trust me, if they tell you 30 minutes figure on 50 minutes. Then there was tonight, order is completely screwed up. Didn't get most of what we ordered. The receipt on the bag, 100% correct. The items in the bad, total sh!t show. We call them to simply ask for a refund. It's 40 minutes round trip to go back. Nope they refuse to do it! Are you kidding me? You royalty screw up the order (not the first time either) and then refuse to refund our money? The food here has become mediocre at best and the complete lack of organization or caring for the customers is just epic. Avoid HUNAN WOK at all costs! Go to Peking Wok in Highbridge. Way better food and service. read more

First time here cant complain! The fried dumplings are really good and the curry chicken - pork fried rice combo was descent too( needed a bit of salt but that was an easy fix) . Te place was pretty packed at 7 pm for pick ups so im assuming it must have quite a bit of return customers. So far i like the place and will def return! Customer service was great too! read more

Hunan Wok - Fried dumplings - Chinese Near Me - Clinton, New Jersey

Wow, had many positive reviews and outside of the dumplings, worst Chinese Food I've ever had. Try actually using chicken and not only breading for your General Tso's dish. What a waste of money. Go visit Hunan Wok in Sparta, NJ if you want amazing Chinese. This is such a joke and if you think this is good, you need to get out more. read more

Good local food- HOT! Just the way heat should be used. The Rangoon are great , crispy and not lacking. Their shrimp dishes have healthy quantities of seafood read more

What's with the Chinese food in Hunterdon County? Hunan Wok maintains the strong tradition of lousy - mediocre Asian cuisine in western NJ. The place wasn't as dirty as some of the other reviewers noted when I visited, but the food wasn't anything special. Hot and sour soup was very watery. Shrimp in lobster sauce was also watery and bland. Ribs were decent, but nothing special. Steamed dumplings were cased in a dough that was way too thick. Sweet and sour chicken came with the chicken and sauce served separately, which I didn't care for. Food seemed fresh. No complaints there, but overall, not very impressive. They are clearly set up for take out more so than eat in, even thought they feature many tables. We ordered at the counter and were never offered plates, bowls or utensils. We had to get our supplies from the take out section. For mediocre take out, it was OK. If you're looking for a causal sit down environment try China Moon in Flemington instead. read more

5 "Clinton" stars for the best Chinese in the area. Great spicy chicken with garlic sauce. The dim sum is quite delicious as is the hot and sour soup. This is a great value play Chinese joint that will fill you up and leave you craving Chinese the following week and you'll one back for seconds. The dim sum dish is quite good and is worth the jaunt to this spot. Singapore noodles are always spot on and very consistent. The shrimp is unusually large in comparison to other Chinese places in the area. I've talked myself to going here tomorrow. read more

Love this Chinese place. I live closer to some other places but travel here to get food here. Their general tso chicken is so good and usually I get sick after Chinese food, but never here! It's not too greasy. Service is always fast and the people working are always sweet. read more

best Chinese in the area! YUM! dumplings, soups, wontons, boneless spare ribs, pork fried rice delicious. read more

The flavors were spot on but we had sweet-and-sour chicken and sesame chicken and both had way too much breading. I just couldn't eat that much bread so I started picking the meat out and ended up with a pile of breading you wouldn't believe. Many of the pieces had no meat at all in them, just breading. I don't mean just the little pieces, the big ones had no meat. Sauces were good and everything else was fine, but two stars may be a bit generous for that much breading. read more

Only giving it a 4 star since it is the only option in the area. We only take out since the interior of the restaurant is filled with soda stock and other stuff. The food is OK, definitely less greasy than the other options in the area. As far as stand out dishes.... There really are none. read more

I've been ordering from the Hunan Wok for years. It's okay, but the consistency of the meals from one time to the next is not good. It probably depends who is cooking that day. Lately, the egg rolls are so oily that it tastes like you took a swig of oil from the bottle. How about leaving them drain a minute or adjust the oil temperature. I've wasted a lot of food and money receiving dinners that are not made well. I don't know how to explain that while the food generally looks the same each time I order, it doesn't taste the same. Could be they are switching up where they purchase their meat and vegetables from not being the same week after week. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Place is dirty and not nice. I go to many restaurants and I never felt so uncomfortable. I was told by the owners daughter (I'm assuming) that I'm never allowed back since I complained about my dish. I got the shrimp dish with five shrimp and the rest of the plate was a load of rice and broccoli. I was unhappy bc I paid for just rice and broccoli basically. I didn't want to get full off just that. I felt annoyed about this, so I mentioned it. She went on telling me that they pay 75 cents for each shrimp. She was going on telling me about how I didn't know the costs of owning a restaurant. All things that a customer doesn't need to know while trying to have a nice dinner with a loved one. I just wanted to be satisfied with my food and enjoy my night out. She was extremely rude and she told me I'm never allowed back. She remembered me as "you are that person that complained about the broccoli". I once order a dish that had only five pieces of broccoli. She was holding it against me which is terrible to do especially for a regular customer. I get if it was jumbo shrimp, but they were very tiny shrimps. I wanted to change my order and she said I had to pay 1 for each shrimp I ate (first off wasn't it 75 cents a shrimp they paid for why were they asking me for a dollar?). My boyfriend had one and I had another before we realized how many was actually in the dish. I believe in high quality customer service. I told her I wanted my money back and she denied to do it, I said I wasn't leaving until I got my money back. They started speaking in Chinese I'm assuming it was about me. If you are looking for a friendly place to eat, then don't go here because they care more about your money then the customers experience. read more

No complaints as far as food. Decent portion sizes with fair prices. Though, the restaurant isn't the cleanest..

Just received my order via Door Dash. I have been ordering from this place for almost a year and have never had any major complaints, however, the last few times I have not been satisfied. Today's order included two totally burnt eggrolls and a tasteless chicken curry. Not sure if they have a new cook but the food isn't as good as it has been in the past. read more

Most of the Chinese places in the area are pretty similar. I find that hunan wok stands out just for the consistency.

Your average style Chinese food menu. Being an average style store food was slightly above average in taste, cleanliness, courtesy and cost.

After my favorite Chinese take out had burnt down in January 2015, I found myself searching for an alternative which isn't easy in these parts of New Jersey. Fortunately, a friend had recommended Human Wok...ooops, I mean HUNAN WOK. Much to my delight, the food has been delicious, not too greasy or salty, and the service has been splendid. However; when they tell you "15 minutes" I really wish they meant it. If they're running behind and it's going to take over a half hour, just tell me. It's alright. I don't mind waiting for quality. read more
