What an amazing place! My family gets catering from here often and it never disappoints. Recently for memorial day weekend we got: - mapo bean curd - beef and mushroom - general tsaos chicken - chicken and broccoli - shrimp fried rice - beef fried rice - crab rangoon and they gave us complimentary candies and iced tea with the meal. I would highly recommend the beef and mushroom, general tsaos chicken, and the chicken and broccoli. They were devoured by everyone and the iced tea is so sweet and delicious. It's a great place, you can tell they care about their customers they kept asking if we'd prefer it in serving trays or individual containers to make it best for us. Without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable dining experience in a very long time. Incredible from the moment I stepped into the restaurant right through the leftovers I just now finished off. I hardly know where to begin so I'll begin at the beginning. When you pull up you almost feel like it is dead. The storefront looks kind of dark with not a lot of activity around. You see the sign and a few Chinese lanterns out front but this does not even begin to prepare you for the wonderfulness inside. I usually pride myself on concise reviews but there is so much to cover. I'll try to edit myself down. To start with, it seems to be total bedlam when you first walk in. There must have been 30 woks all going at once and at least three generations, possibly four, all yelling instructions to each other. An amazing, frenetic energy. The menu has at least 100 items, probably more. If you take into account all the combinations and permutations, it is virtually endless. I got the General Tso's Chicken combination (the #24) and my wife got the Orange Chicken (white meat, which they happily accommodated for a nominal upcharge). It comes with port fried rice and a choice of a starters. She chose the eggroll and I got the cheesesteak eggroll (which was a nominal upcharge for the cheesesteak one), which were both excellent. Of course, the cheesesteak is not very traditional for a Chinese restaurant but it was delicious. The fried wonton strips provided before the meal were fried to perfection - puffy and not too greasy. The combination plates were absolutely immense (see pictures) for the price (somewhere around $13 - $14). Totally enough to either split or stuff yourself and have a full meal to take home. The port fried rice was absolutely exceptional. Lots of mix-ins and tons of flavor. The chicken on both plates was perfectly cooked and the sauces were amazing. The orange chicken had more zing than most, making it particularly enticing. Such an amazing dining experience. From the classic Hollywood setting, to the portions to the taste; just unbelievably wonderful. So glad to have come to this place. Food was great, they have the best boneless spare ribs!!! We always take out and 9 out of 10 times our order is ready when we arrive for pickup even when the place is mobbed. Walked in on a Sunday night to place an order for TWO people. We ordered a lo main and a main dish to share. They tell us "25 minutes ". Ok, it's Sunday. One hour and two minutes later our take out order is finally served (because I'd inquired 10 minutes earlier?). This gave me plenty of time to observe their open kitchen. Disgusting. Every single one I encountered in 40+ years of eating Chinese food ranged from downright awful to somewhat tolerable. I'm glad to report that this place is not downright awful. It's totally "run of the mill", mediocre Chinese food. It's on the "somewhat tolerable" end of the spectrum. I have to wonder about the people who rave about this place. Finally. After 10+ years of living in Long Valley, we'd given up on finding good Chinese food (especially a place where we can eat in). Then, I passed by Peking Wok on my way to Clinton and took a peek at the reviews. On Sunday night, my family and I cautiously entered and we could not have been more pleased. Everything was fresh and made-to-order, including our favorite, crab rangoon/cheese wontons. The broccoli in our shrimp dish was crisp and not oversauced. Our moo shu pork was better than any we've had in years. In addition to the fresh and delicious food is the FRIENDLIEST staff. Our server was lovely and attentive, even though she was fielding a large number of take-out orders. One of the chefs came out to check on us more than once and to ensure we liked our food. They also provided extra rice and moo shu pancakes for us to take home, which allowed us to enjoy the food fully for a second time. We'll definitely be back. read more
