Now this is more like it! As a new resident of the area, I'm still getting my bearings as to where the best places to eat are for pizza, Chinese, etc. I went to one Chinese place a few weeks back and was very disappointed. This place got mixed reviews, but mostly positive, so I thought I'd give it a shot (it's also close to my home so that helped in my decision). I ordered roast pork egg foo yong (same order as the last place) and chicken lo mein, and the egg foo yong was exactly as it should be! Slightly crispy along the edges, eggy, oniony, and NO pleas and carrots! I was so relieved that wasn't a Western New Jersey thing. The lo mein was good, not great. The noodles were slightly thicker than I'm used to and there weren't a lot of vegetables mixed in, but it was pretty much what I would expect from lo mein. It WAS less greasy than most, so that was a definite upside! That's it really. I can't speak to any of their menu items at this point, but given my impressions from these two dishes, I have no reason to look further. Not a ton of places around for delivery take-out when we're both exhausted and don't want to cook. This place not only delivers, but is also on grubhub which means we can order an entire meal to our house without actually interacting with anyone #newleveloflazy. Anyways, this is a pretty decent chinese food place. Not the best I've ever had, but their dishes are solid. Nothing out-of-this-world, but for chinese food, it doesn't have to be, especially when its late, you're tired, and there's nothing in the house to cook with. This most recent time, we ordered chicken lo mein, beef with mixed veggies, shrimp with cashews, and wonton soup. This is entirely too much food for 2 people, but we wanted leftovers for later in the week and for me to pack for lunch the next day. My only complaint (and it seems consistent across all chinese food deliveries!) is that the wonton soup-to-wonton ratio is absurd! there's like 30 wontons in there, and 1 scoop of broth. Okay, that's a complete exaggeration, but in reality I think there were about 10-12 wontons and about 2 cups of broth - just makes it difficult to measure it out to save. This is prob our go-to place for take out when we're wanting chinese. Their lo mein is decent, they use a darker sauce with it so it's more flavorful than normal, but overall really good! read more

It's a Friday, and nobody wants to cook, amirite? I decided on No 1 China because I wanted Chinese and I hadn't ordered from them in a while. My order consisted of 3 items - shrimp toast, a quart of wonton egg drop soup, and General Tso's shrimp. The shrimp toast was much more greasy and over-fried than any other I'd had elsewhere. It was the most edible part of my order. The wonton egg drop soup had an odd taste. As best as I could tell. The filling in the wontons had gone bad. It had that taste that gets into your mouth after you've smelled spoiled food. I had high hopes for the General's shrimp because the white plastic container was stuffed. Those hopes were quickly dashed. Very few bites had any meat. It was mostly fried breading. When I did find meat, I knew it was chicken. I haven't decided if I will treat it like a box of Cracker Jack's and hope to find a prize of shrimp at the bottom. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 was for delivering ahead of expectation. It took 30 minutes instead of 40. Yea, maybe that should have been a clue. read more

Tried NO.1 China for first time tonight. Food was very good and so was the service! Quality meat and vegetables in chicken chop suey, light and crispy spring roll and fantail shrimp. Oil very clean tasting which is so important. We also got hot sour soup and shrimp lo mein. Both excellent. For sure we will be back. read more

So we just moved to the area from NYC and were worried about what food would be available in the area. Found Number One China on Yelp and saw all of the great reviews, so we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed! The food is tasty and fresh, the staff is amazing. The handful of times we've been, we've been helped by different people who all were super friendly and genuinely seemed happy to see you. Might I add, their setup to promote social distancing is impeccable. Do I wish they had a half fried chicken combo? Sure. The food was never that great to start with. There are other restaurants in the area that are better. Started going there because a friend worked there. Forth time recently they messed up my order, shorting me food. They refused to fix the order or make good on it. I wish I didn't pay with cash, I could've disputed it with my bank if I paid with my card. I ordered food that was supposed to have lobster in it and it had imitation crab meat in it too. This restaurant shouldn't charge so much money to serve garbage. A lot of times I order, not all the time, but a lot of times I order the food is not fresh. Food is either dried out or overcooked. Brown rice is terrible. Always dry. Prices are never consistent as if they make them up on a day to day bases. People should take pride in the food they make when they run a restaurant. Customers are PAYING for this food not asking for it for free. So this restaurant shouldn't feel comfortable giving away garbage to their paying customers. read more

This place is near my home. Its typical Chinese american food. We may order from then 6xs a year. If you like american Chinese this is the place for you. I prefer Chinese Chinese restaurants that Chinese people eat in or take out from. Bergen county nj..
