I actually really like this Thai place. It is pretty close to my house and since we moved to Pittstown we have come here for dinner a few times. We also do a lot of take out from here. The food is consistent and the restaurant is clean. The service is a little slow but that is okay Bc it's made up by the food quality. I really would advise you to check Thai place out to find a small little hole in the wall spot that Yoh would make your own. The pad ke mao is my favorite Thai dish and they do it well! We have always had take out from Savory Thai, so can't comment on the service. As far as the food goes, it's good Thai food. Not great. If we want excellent Thai, we go to Thai Kitchen in Bridgewater, or Pad Thai in Highland Park. But because Savory is 5 minutes from home, we sometimes order from them when the urge hits. Haven't been here in a while and since coming back it's better then ever. I tried the goong ob woonsen which is shrimp in claypot. I loved it! The only thing i would do differently is ask for no carrots and extra mushrooms. I didnt care for the carrots. The beef satay was also good i especially liked their peanut sauce and i'm not even a peanut sauce person. My son got the pad see ew as usual and it was a generous portion. Food is always delicious but this post is for the purpose of the drunken noodles. This has happened multiple times for me and I've reached the point that I will no longer go to this restaurant. I placed the order on the phone, drive down to pick it up and was told that they no longer had the wide noodle and would substitute with the thin pad Thai noodle. It is NOT the same. It doesn't taste like the traditional drunken noodle dish and they should have told me when placing the order. I tried it once with the thinner noodles only because I was dining in. If they can't seem to have the wider noodle in stock then it shouldn't not be on the menu and they should not expect to substitute it! read more

I was in Branchburg for a two day work project and learned two things: 1) when in Branchburg, nothing ( Nothing ! ) is close. 2) if you want/ need a nice, casual & tasteful meal... go to Savory Thai. After our work day and hotel check-in (Hampton Inn, Flemington), I started my Yelp search for dinner. I was capitol "H", Hungry ! I noticed that most everything was 8-14 miles away, what the heck. I found Savory Thai only 5 miles away and off we went. Upon arrival, we were welcomed and seated by our lovely hostess ( whom was to be our waitress) and handed menus. A very nice selection of apps & entrées. I had a really hankering for wine and noticed none on the beverage menu ( not unusual in NJ ), I checked with our waitress and sure enough there wasn't any available. No problem, a quick walk to a liquor store next door remedied our non-dilemma and back to the issue at hand... eating ! I ordered curry puffs and a Shrimp Red Curry dish. Sadly, I didn't notice my friend's order, but we both enjoyed our dinner and service ! All was quite good and served with a wonderful smile, do I sound smitten ? I suspect I was. Savory Thai has one of the most relaxing ambience I have ever experienced, well appointed, great lighting to accompany our dinners. If you're dying of hunger, keep driving! I stopped, which I don't recommend. The penang tofu, although beautifully presented, tasted sour and rancid. Service was pleasant and attentive, but severely limited by a language barrier. For example, I asked if there was an up charge for brown rice. My waitress said she would check. I explained that if there were, I would just go with the jasmine rice that came free with my curry. She reported back that there wasn't. I confirmed again as I handed her the menu...and yet again when she brought out my meal. Each time she pleasantly confirmed that there would be no extra charge. The bill arrives, and BAM! I was charged for a full side. When I pointed this out, she smiled sweetly, and said definitively, "Yes, extra charge!" Then the language barrier and confusion returned in full force, preempting any further discussion. There were frustrating instances of this throughout the experience. Among the positives: It's a cute venue. While rancid, the curry was spicy, as requested. Prices are reasonable even with the incorrect charges that they added. It's a BYOB that's located next door to a liquor store. At the end of the day, though I just don't want to eat rancid or spoiled food. Quite frankly, I don't know many people that would! read more

my parents and i dined there the other day, after seeing that they have a number of vegetarian options. plus, it's BYO -- score!! i thought thailand was the "land of smiles"... apparently someone forgot to tell the two ladies serving us this fact. they were downright surly with us. the food was pretty good -- especially for flemington, which has restaurants with perhaps one (crappy) vegetarian option at most. we shared the ginger pad khing with tofu (we were told all the build-your-own options could be made veg as well as the items under the vegetarian section), and this was the winner. very tasty, not too salty, with a nice ginger undertone. the sauce was light and flavorful, too. we also had the mixed vegetables and tofu (under the veg section) -- it was only okay. lastly, we shared the vegetarian duck basil. our server asked me how spicy i wanted it, and i said a 4-5 out of 10. she very rudely told me their scale was 1 to 5, and i then said i'd like it a "3". i enjoy medium-spicy food, and that's what you'd think a "3" would represent, right? i taste it and my head screams, "WTFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!". it was INSANELY hot! i could barely eat two bites of it before having to switch to another dish to temper the heat. other than that, it was pretty good and interesting but definitely too salty. but why did they make it so damn spicy?? does the heat scale mean nothing whatsoever?? perhaps it's yet another case of spiceism**, so you may not suffer the same fate. the ambiance was nice and contemporary, but the awful thai pop songs blaring loudly definitely detracted from the experience. the rude service really did make it quite unpleasant (minus 1 star), but i just may come back to take out the ginger pad khing tofu the next time i'm in town. **spiceism = the assumption by an establishment that you want your food soooo overly spicy hot that it will melt the plate it's on -- only because your skin is brown. read more

I always feel the litmus test for all Thai places is the Tom Yum soup. Their soup was filled with lots of your typical ingredients and quite tasty, but lacked the runny nose heat that I so desire. The shrimp pad thai ordered spicy didn't disappoint although the small side of medium shrimp on the $9 lunch special should be larger. Love this place. So happy Flemington finally has a thai restaurant. There's only two negative things that I have to say about this place: 1. The Pad Thai is horrible. Do not order it. You will be very disappointed. I love pad thai. If you're craving Pad Thai, head to Hillsborough or Bridgewater and go to Thai Kitchen. 2. The concrete floor. It kind of takes away from the ambiance, but I can deal with this. The red walls make it very warm and cozy inside. Love the red curry and the panang curry. Two dishes that you can't go wrong with. BYOB and they don't rush you out of the place! There is a liquor store right next door, so it's perfect. Great and friendly service. Close to my parents house. We've been here at least half a dozen times and have never had a bad meal. Curry puffs are very good, as is the Thai Fried Rice w/ chicken--Kao Pad. One time we had avocado rolls as an appetizer (a special); they were good as well. Last night is the first time we had take out. I ordered the Drunken Noodles---sooo good! Small place and very nicely decorated. The service is very good but no conversation will take place. I believe the language is part of the reason and the culture is the other so don't let that bother you. The food comes out quickly and the quality is fantastic. I've brought three different business associates and they all enjoyed it very much. The Red curry, pad Thai and basil fried rice is outstanding. Every time I've been there the food is alway fresh and never soggy as some people have stayed. Not sure what happened to their meals but mine have always been great. Finally, a decent Thai place in New Jersey! The Wife and I went here for our monthly date night. We left Kid #1 and Kid #2 at home with the Babysitter. It's ironic, the amount we pay for the Babysitter turns out more than our dinners. What does that tell you of inflation in the service based industry? So, we ordered an avocado-sundried tomato spring roll, and two curry dishes. The avocado-sundried tomato roll was amazing. You would think a fusion dish involving Italy-Mexico-Thailand simply will turn out disastrous----but, it was actually really good. I was quite honestly expecting a mushy avocado topped with a tomato, and deep fried. It was anything but that. I used to be a firm believer that fusion dishes shouldn't involve countries seperated by large bodies of oceans between them. So much for that theory. I remember back in grad school, I had this fusion dish involving three countries-----India, France, and Mexico. Chiles, butter, and even hotter chiles. Was miserable for days. Speaking of chiles and misery....I got my dish a spicy index of 4 out 5. HUGE mistake. I figured "this is Joisey. We're just in the outskirts of farm country. (sorry Flemington readers, but yeah...you're in farm country). How spicy can 4 really be?". Well...it was spicy. Tasted damn good, but spicy as all hell. So---fair warning: their spiciness isn't tempered to the farm country surroundings. Don't let those cows fool you. I'd love to go back. This Thai place is spectacular! My husband and I have had lots of Thai & this place is authentic & delicious! If you like spicy Thai food with a good level of heat but not so hot you can't stop the burn then 2 stars out of 5 will be just right! If you love Duck, the "Lovely Duckling" dish is outstanding, the Panang Curry Chicken great, the Pineapple fried rice is also really good but my personal favorite is Pad Kee Mao!! Their Duck Salad is also very well done and we like the Duck dishes crispy! We love the Coconut Milk based dishes best but honestly everything we have tried is just delicious... A friend in the area took me to Savory Thai, and I was relieved that she'd moved to a town where I knew she'd at least be getting good Thai food. We are regulars here. First impression, we thought the restaurant was closed from outside because it is so dark from the outside. If it wasn't for the little open sign, we would have never come. Overall, the food is ok. The service is slow but the food comes out really fast once you order. They don't ask how spicy you want the food. Both were very good (I'd also recommend the Pad Thai). The service is good; the wait staff is friendly. Also, it's never been crowded the times that I've come here. The ambiance is quiet and intimate with low lighting. This is one of the few choices for Thai in Flemington and I would strongly recommend it if you're looking to eat good Thai food.
