My husband and I were visiting my daughter and her family in the area, and the suggested this place because of the gluten free options available. Both my daughter and youngest granddaughter are gluten intolerant, and have eaten here before. This was a take-out order, and was ready in 10 minutes. We ordered a chicken pad thei, the chicken kabobs, crying dragon entree, pineapple rice, and two orders of fried tofu. The extra to our order was the peanut sauce, which my daughter said was very good. However, a few minutes after eating was when both of them expressed stomach discomfort. We can only assume that the peanut sauce has an ingredient containing gluten - such as the soy sauce. My food was good, but I wouldn't say it was great. My second granddaughter enjoyed her pineapple rice. Notsure if I would go out of my way to return. read more

I had been there before and was happy with the meal maybe a few years ago. This time, Coconut based soup was sour. Chicket Pad Thai was drowning in sauce. Then at the end of the meal, server asked where her tip was (that was sitting on the table). Very disappointed. read more

I've been to this Thai place many times before and always had great food here. Tonight I went here with my friends and every dish we ordered had an over powering fish sauce smell/taste. Something changed. I didn't like the food at all. And they automatically added 20% tip for a party of 3. Didn't give a copy of the receipt either. read more

I can't believe it's been seven years since I've updated this review. I go several times a year because it's a very convenient location to meet friends, but unfortunately it no longer deserves a 5. Today's curry noodles was nice and spicy and tasty, but the tofu in it tasted stale, and the chicken was overcooked and rubbery. Today's dish was a 2/5 though my friend did like his crying tiger so I'm only dropping by one star for now. read more

I'd visited Pru Thai many years ago and really enjoyed the experience, so I was glad to return. We were seated immediately... service was quick, friendly, and attentive. The food was exactly what I'd hoped it to be. Ordered calamari as an app and they were really good. Seasoned well, not too chewy, and with a nice sweet dipping sauce. My daughter ordered the spring rolls that were tasty enough.. But, I truly enjoyed my black noodles. My friend ordered it and while I like to order different dishes, for the tasting opportunity, after reading the description, I wanted my own lol. And I'm glad that I did.. it was more like a snack, savory with just the right amount of sweetness.. my protein of choice was shrimp and they were good, but the star of the show were the noodles. I've been coming here with my family since we moved to this area in summer of 2004. This is on the better that restaurants in Hunterdon and Warren Counties. The other nearest Thai restaurant in Flemington is great too, but Pru Thai is much closer to my location in Clinton and the food is very consistent. They also opened up a nice little tea shop next door so there is a nice variety of bubble teas and Thai iced teas and coffees. I usually get the various curries, Crying Tiger, black noodles, or Khao Pad Thai fried rice. The lunch specials are very well portioned and include a nice salad and soup. If you're in the downtown Main Street area of Clinton this place is a must try. read more

I love it here! Food is super good and there are many options that are dairy free! Ofcourse if you have a peanut allergy be very careful. But service is always amazing. They are so kind and sweet. This has always been my hidden gem. Also make sure to try their Thai tea! It's the best. I also love the lighting and vibes inside. This was a casual spot with lots of traditional Thai dishes along with a few creative entrees as well. The service was decent, and the food came out quickly. For appetizers, the Pru Thai combo ($16?) was ordered. It was combination of satays, Kanom Jeeb, vegetable spring rolls, and rocket shrimps. There was one chicken satay and one beef. Both were very tender and seasoned nicely. There was also a mini cucumber salad, which was appetizing. The Kanom Jeeb were fried chicken dumplings. These were probably my favorite. I really liked the texture of these and the chicken filling. The spring rolls were not bad, a nice crunch. The rocket shrimp were fried with minced seasoned pork wrapped in a rice crepe. These were solid, very crunchy with plenty of filling. For an entrée, I had the drunken man noodles with chicken ($18?). This came with stir-fried noodles with egg, crushed chili, fresh basil, and onions. This was a well put together dish. There did not seem to be a lot of food initially seeing the dish, but that was not the case at all. The dish was very filling as there was a ton of noodles. The chicken was seasoned nicely with a little bit of heat from the chili. I also tried the pad Thai with pork. It was alright. I thought it was a little dry as the noodles were not cooked ideally. Visited here for the first time this past week. The location is pretty and the overall ambiance of the place was okay. Upon arrival it seemed as if I was interrupting the waitress's lunchtime. She assumed I was coming to order take out and eventually sat me in the corner. Gave me about 2 minutes to read the menu and asked "you ready" ? No hi, hello? Nothing. Service eventuality reached the basic expected level once she was done with her lunch. The food was maybe a 7 if I'm being generous. The Thai iced tea was the best thing for me. The tamarind chicken seems like chicken scraps with a batter deep fried. Not much thought and effort. The vegetables were a bit undercooked. The lava cake had a weird old taste. Love this spot and it's a hidden gem in Hunterdon county. People love the Red Mill but I think this is the not to be missed spot in Clinton. Came back this past weekend for another meal at Pru Thai. This time it was lunch and I tried the Pad Pik King with chicken, curry puffs and green papaya salad. I forgot to take pics this time but it's a bright big bowl of chicken, green beans and red bell peppers with a spicy sauce with kefir lime. Very flavorful and delicious. I bet it would be great with shrimp - next time! The curry puffs are huge, crispy and the filling is delicious. The papaya salad is crunchy and refreshing with all the classic Thai flavors. I love how they've redecorated the interior. It has a very cozy and sophisticated feeling. As always, the staff is very attentive. read more

Quick service & very tasty. I just can't score them higher when the portion was so skimpy. I found 5 medium sized shrimp in my drunken noodles & the noodles weren't overly plentiful either. The veggies were quite good! Most Thai places give me enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Not so today, but perhaps they are more generous with chicken. Pru Thai is a cute find in downtown Clinton! Had decided to go here for a late lunch with some family. And happily they were able to accommodate our group of 9...which was wonderful! The waitress welcomed us and our table and was already set for us with cutlery, placemats, menus, and glasses of water. As we settled in, our waitress started with our beverage orders. We started with the calamari as an appetizer. It was nicely fried and served with a Thai chili sauce. I had ordered the drunken man noodles with beef and my boyfriend had ordered the Duck Tamarind. The drunken noodles had generous helpings of beef with flat noodles and vegetables. I wasn't that adventurous with spiciness and got it mild. Very good! My boyfriend enjoyed the duck--it was cooked perfectly and served with some rice. He had enjoyed his meal! And of course I ordered a Thai iced tea and it delicious! Its a sweet drink but not overly sweet. They have a great variety of classic Thai meals. It is definitely worth visiting again when I'm in the area. And the restaurant is small and nicely decorated. The food here is good, but the service was so bad I hardly know what to say. My family arrived around 4pm. We were the only customers and asked to sit outside. There were 2 waitresses but I had to go inside the restaurant TWICE. Once to ask a question about the menu,the next time to get them to take our order.
