As usual, we saw a pig sign and had to turn around. It would be a shame not to. This place really gets a 3.5, but I'm feeling generous today. The spare ribs were perfect--charred on the outside, tender inside. The pulled pork sandwich was a bit sweet due to the sauce, but nothing grisley or funky, which some places have. It was done the way a slow cooked pork ought to be done. Tender, juicy, not reliant on a sauce for inherant flavour. Still, the sauce was not to my liking. It was very sweet. Sweet, smoky, a ketchup base with a touch of molasses. I don't mind that before the beast is cooked, but it's a bit much afterwards. I will admit, however, that the spare ribs were perfect. I believe I already mentioned that, but they really were. It's a Portuguese BBQ place, which means grilling even though both brisket and pulled pork are on the menu. If I lived closer, I would definitely return to try the brisket, as they definitely take their meat seriously here. a side of spare ribs, one pulled pork sandwich, and a pineapple soda set us back $24. The service was sweet. The woman at the counter was very sweet and helpful. If you're in the area, definitely give it a try. It's not southern bbq, but they certainly make good food. This was my first taste of Portuguese BBQ, and I did not know it was a grilling style before I sat down for dinner there last weekend. Housed in a low end strip mall on Rt.31 Northbound, the room was basic and a bit dreary. Still, I was not there for the atmosphere, and dynamite ribs could change my vision. I ordered the Pork Ribs, Corn Bread and Sweet Potato Fries. To drink I tried a Pineapple Soda manufactured in the old country. The 3 Star rank suggests that while everything was solid and tasty, none of it was a knock out win. My small sampling provided a few insights. First, while the ribs were tender and meaty, they lacked a strong flavor. My server suggested using the BBQ sauce in a table rocket even before the food arrived. I was surprised because in my travels through southern BBQ in the USA, there was seldom the need to add more flavor. That said, once squirted, the ribs were a pleasure to eat. Second, the Corn Bread was excellent. I huge chunk of soft, sweet, well textured, corniness covered half the plate. This was some of the best Corn Bread I have eaten. The same was true of the Fries. Fresh cut - the taste dominating even the ribs. Yes. The Sumol Pineapple Soda was unique and refreshing. Bottom Line - While I've had better ribs based on the quality of the pre-grilling rubs and sauces applied earlier in the process, these were still quality meats. I just would not rush back to have them again. Everything else on the plate was compellingly great. Were I to find myself back around Flemington, I would not hesitate to return and try something else on the menu. read more

Visited for an early dinner on 11/20/20 after visiting a local winery and really enjoyed the food. Staff was nice, This place is a no frills restaurant, just great homey BBQ that will fill you up. There were 4 of us and we split the whole bbq chicken and ordered 4 sides, Black Beans, Corn Bread, Rice and Plantains, all of it was great. The portions were perfect, you definitely don't want to miss the cornbread and the plantains as sides they were awesome. we washed the meal down with a bottle of pineapple soda. After running late at an event was traveling home and stopped by. As I opened the door the sweet-smokey aroma hit me. I knew I was in for a treat, and got lost in the huge menu board on the wall. When I paid and the bag was handed to me, I felt like I picked up a bowling ball. Really heavy and huge portions. Do come with a friend and a healthy appetite. The meat had a very nice taste, something I could really not put my finger on. Kinda zesty, spicy, with a good sweet hiding in the favors. The rice was nice and the vegetables where ok, maybe not fresh? Frozen? Very little to complain about though. Don't let my words of the vegetables throw you, very good meat with a unique taste. I got the Hawaiian BBQ Pork with plantains and French fries, and all of that was delicious! My wife got the Churrasco with Spanish rice and cornbread. If u want good bbq then I suggest going to Flemington BBQ across from McDonald's. To get parking is hard to manuever but you can park in the BP lot. It takes a while to get ur food at Flemington BBQ but the portions are huge the place is clean and they have reasonable prices. I got the bbq chicken and pork ribs combo yesterday that came with alot of fries and rice. It was in a quarter sheet pan!! Lots of food for leftovers. Definitely rough 4 two people. It was delicious. The food is really good, staff is friendly but the best thing I have to say about this business is that they are really HONEST. I went to dinner with my family and when I got home i realized I had I left my purse behind. It was passed their closing time when I realized I had left it there In desperation I sent the business a message and they replied promptly, and said not to worry, they had it and I could pick it up the next day. When I went to pick it up, my purse was intact! I don't think they even looked inside to see to whom it belonged. I was so relieved! I had all my documents and $100 in my wallet and EVERYTHING was there. I know this doesn't have much to do with food but I still thing is worth to talk about it; and tell others. This was an excellent BBQ place. We ate there for dinner tonight and the ribs and the pulled pork were perfect. I didn't even use any sauce because the meat was so juicy and flavorful. My son had a kielbasa sandwich that was huge. It could definitely feed two people. Also the cornbread was made from scratch with real kernels of corn. It isn't cheap, but it is not overpriced for the quality of the meat and the serving sizes. Here you do get what you pay for and that is a very good thing. Best of all...THEY DELIVER!!!!!
