    Large sigsig and shrimp

Really cute lil Filipino inspired byob restaurant! Loved their small but unique menu. Definitely would recommend getting the app sampler (all the dishes were great) and the shrimp curry with garlic rice! The sigsig was good, would have just preferred the pork to be a little more crispy. Also the ube sundae was perfect ! Staff was attentive and helpful. The space is small but cozy. Definitely recommend for a cute little date night!

Tabachoy is a cozy Filipino restaurant. I had their their lumpia, Filipino spaghetti, pork sisig, and a shrimp curry dish. I really liked everything I ordered - the ones that stood out were definitely the spaghetti and sisig. The entrees come with a choice of white rice or garlic rice, and Filipino garlic rice is always something I like! I also had the ube sundae for desserts and I really liked it!

Stumbled onto this place while driving through Philly. Nice tapas style filipino restaurant. Modern flavors mixed with traditional dishes. Staff was very friendly. And the food was yummy.

I have a new little tradition of going out for a meal on the day of the Super Bowl when it's a little easier to get a difficult reservation, and Tabachoy was my choice this year! Made a reservation for 4 online about a week in advance without a hitch. It's a tiny dining room, so you definitely want a reservation and don't gamble on a walk-in. Our group started out with the sampler platter, and got an extra order of lumpia since the sampler only comes with three and we didn't want to fight over them! Each of the apps - lumpia, fried chicken wings, and even the salad - were delicious and bursting with flavor despite their apparent simplicity. For entrees, we got large orders of the chicken adobo, sisig, and pork kare kare. I didn't expect the chicken adobo to be a highlight - another usually simple dish - but the sauce was OUTSTANDING with a deep dark soy sauce flavor and rich sweetness. We had to stop the server from taking the bowl away when we finished the meat because we wanted every last drop of sauce! The dark meat chicken was fall-apart tender on the inside yet delicately crispy like Peking duck on the outside. I had high expectations for the sisig which were met, with a good balance of crisp skin and tender fat, though I'd have liked just a hint more acidity to the flavor. The kare kare unfortunately underwhelmed; the pork cheek was fork-tender, but the peanut-based sauce/seasoning just wasn't flavorful enough compared to the other dishes. I do love other Southeast Asian peanut sauces and curries and this one didn't pack the same punch. For dessert, we got the pandan cheesecake and ube sundae, and the restaurant was kind enough to give us an extra scoop of ube ice cream on the house! The ube ice cream and cheesecake paired really well together and I'm glad we got them both. However, bits of the inedible leaves that the cheesecake was baked in got caught in some of my bites and I had to fish them out. A couple other things I didn't love: the cramped seating (some two-tops were arranged really awkwardly making it hard for diners to get up), the bathroom placement requiring stepping outside the restaurant, the food service being quite slow (maybe why we got the free ice cream?), and I found some of the dishes quite pricey for what they were and the level of ambience/service. I overall still really enjoyed Tabachoy as a treat meal, though I think they deserve a new larger space that better accommodates both guests and crew. I'm glad Filipino food is repped among Philly's popular restaurants and our city could use more!

I had a resy around 5:30pm and it was fairly empty when we arrived with only 3 other tables occupied, which soon filled up. The overall ambiance was welcoming + our waitress was really nice and explained the specialty dish of the day + menu. For small plates, we got the special of the day (butternut squash ginataan which was a pureed dish that was delicious), fried tofu (our personal fave app), and the south philly laing (super creamy but a bit bitter). For entrees, we tried the adobo which was so so good - the chicken was so moist and flavorful, so worth it. And we ended with the pandan cheesecake + ube sundae, the stars of the meal. I was joking beforehand that I wanted to go to Tabachoy for the desserts but to be honest, the food was all around delicious. To echo some of the other reviews, I also didn't know there was a 1.5 hr time limit and was kind of surprised when the waitress came by to tell us we were nearing the end of our slot (I also wasn't entirely sure why we were being rushed out since other tables had opened up). She was kind enough to add another 10 mins to our time so that we could finish our desserts so that was nice.

2.5 Recommend to make reservations the space is pretty tight. Gentrified Filipino food, overpriced considering the portion size. The sisig was good, the egg makes it creamy was well seasoned. The pritong tokwa, is just fried tofu with a sweet and sour sauce, nothing special. I would not go out of my way for this restaurant there's better Filipino food where you can get a larger quantity. The space is so small where you have to exit the restaurant go through a sketchy alleyway to access the bathroom.

We ate at the counter and had a great time. Great music, ambiance, and attentive service. Adobo chicken was so tasty and a large portion. Thanks for the little taste of ube soft serve when we were too full for the full order

South Philly Laing (broccoli rabe with coconut milk)

Really wonderful food in a cute spot! The plates here are best served family style and do come in pretty small portions, but it means you can try lots of things. We got the Laing and arroz Caldo to start, shared the large fried tofu and clams mains, and finished off with the ube sundae and pandan cheesecake. Everything was flavorful and exciting - my favorites were the tofu and the ube sundae, but I would order everything again! I will mention that we were ordering for a pescatarian diet and didn't get any "standard" Filipino food (lumpia, sisig, etc) and one of my friends said they were more confused about what Filipino food is after this lol. I've had a decent amount of Filipino food and I don't know that I would have categorized any of our dishes as Filipino without knowing it was a Filipino spot. However we all agreed that everything was really good regardless! I recommend making a reservation, as this place is small and fills up quickly. I watched a few walk ins get turned away while we were eating.

Awesome meal here. Small and noisy on the inside, but it's a good vibe. Servers are super chill and made the experience enjoyable. Ordered 4 things and really enjoyed all of them. The menu is incredibly affordable, which just made the experience that much sweeter. It's also a BYO. Make sure you come out and try Tabachoy if you haven't done so already! You won't regret it.

I haven't been so disappointed to write a review in a very long time. As someone who was so obsessed with the food cart that I used to visit Hermann's only on the days that this food cart would be stationed, this was such an upsetting experience. For appetizers, we tried the lumpia and the South Philly Laing. For the main dishes, we went with the pork sisig and the Pritong Tokwa. None of the dishes were particularly exciting or memorable. I used to love the food truck dishes since they felt so homey and comforting, but the above dishes were so basic. The pork sisig and the Pritong Tokwa felt like items I've had a dozen times at other establishments and the Laing was heavy with coconut milk and the broccoli rabe was so bitter and difficult to swallow. The lumpia was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. I've read a ton of reviews about the dessert, but our appetizers and entrees were so upsetting that we didn't even try the dessert options. Service was fine. The food came out quickly, but no one really checked on you or made the experience memorable. The price is also super high for what you're getting. The ambiance inside is confusing since they sell merch and there is contemporary music at too high of a level for the prices being charged. I would not recommend coming here unfortunately, but if the food truck is ever back, I will be too.

We went as a group of six to Tabachoy and had a great time! Just a note: you have to order the pre fix menu here but it's overall a really good deal and allows you to try a lot of the items on the menu. I will also say some of the dishes cannot really be changed so if you have allergies/don't eat certain things/don't eat spice you might not get the same experience. All the dishes were really good, especially the noodles and meat dishes. Of course dessert with ube ice cream was my favorite.

Chef tasting is highly recommended if you want to try a little bit of everything. Chicken wings: it's huge, crispy skin , moist meat. Caesar salad: in my opinion, it's similar to coleslaw. Lumpia: I wish it's bigger. Small plates: everything is tasty and well seasoned. Panchit tabachoy: noodles is al dente, south Philly Laing: I love the coconut milk with the broccoli rabe. I highly recommend the garlic rice instead of the jasmine rice because it has more flavor. Entrees: pork adobo, sisig (minced pork belly), ginataang kalabasa. My favorite is the ginaatang. Big piece of butternut squash in a very flavorful coconut with jackfruit purée to give a bit of sweetness. This dish transports you to tropical vibes of the Philippines. Dessert: Ube soft serve and fried banana wrapped in thin wonton wrapper. You cannot go wrong with either one. We were seated right across the kitchen so I could see how the kitchen is well run to get the food out asap. The owner is very friendly and engaging.

This place has amazing Filipino food. The restaurant front is very small and byob. There were only like 5 tables in the restaurant and a small bar to sit at. We got reservations for the bar. There wasn't much decorations. I really liked the pig light hanging above the kitchen. It was cool to see how the dishes were made through their open door/window. The owner literally was at the front helping to take orders. It was cool to see how it wasn't completely commercial yet. We got the pritong tokwa which was fried tofu with tamarind, tamari, and chili. I really liked how crispy the dish was. Then we got the garlic rice which was basically just fried rice with garlic chunks in it. We ended up getting the pork sisig. We got the smaller option which was honestly a lot smaller than we anticipated. There is an egg in it and comes in a small, hot cast iron skillet. I really liked the minced pork belly meat. The dish also contained bell pepper and chili. Our main entree was Pancit tabachoy. It was noodles with sausage and this amazing sauce. I really liked the furikake on top of the dish. For dessert we got the ube ice cream which had this amazing fried banana on the dish. I really liked how it was a soft serve. The other dessert we had was the pandan cheesecake. The dessert was pretty heavy but very creamy.
