One of the best cheap hot pots in Philly. Its very cheap the lowest bein $26 per person for hot pot only. For both cajun and hot pot, it is around $33. This hot pot place used to be called Hippot, Ive never tried it before but I can say that Seafood hotpot does their best to maintain fresh ingredients. The crabs are fresh and they clean the crabs very well before serving it. Unfortuantely, this is one of the reasons why I had stop visiting one of the other hot pot places because the crabs werent prepared well. The price also includes all you can drink with popular chinese drinks and soda. The waitresses there are very sweet and nice. Thank you for always serving us when we come in last.

The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the slaw and sauce were fresh and tangy, and the bread was perfectly crispy and soft at the same time. The sweet tea was amazingly refreshing and light, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The service was great and the person at the counter was incredibly friendly. I also got a little corn bread to take back to my hotel and it was such a treat to eat after a late night out with my colleagues. If I ever come back to Philly, I am 100% coming back here.

Let's get to the food. Blackened catfish platter ($17 with tax) Catfish melts in your mouth, seasoned amazing throughout the catfish, flaky, delicious and spicy. 10/10 The sauce that came with it omg it makes the catfish 10 times better giving it a more kick and flavor. Sauce 10/10 Fries- Fries well seasoned and delicious with a kick with the onion and peppers makes them even better. Wish they were a little bit crunch on them but overall amazing fries- 9/10 Cornbread- This corn bread is soft, flaky, sweet, soft on the inside and moist. The seasoning on the cornbread is good it's a different take on cornbread and I like it. 9/10 Definitely recommend for anyone wanting any fish, chicken, breakfast or more.

So the bowling balls are also smaller. There's just a glitch with the pins where once in a while they may get tangled in each other but the attendants fixes it promptly. The place has a nice size bar and restaurant along side the bowling area. You can also order/eat food and drinks while you bowl. This spot is perfect for everyone: family fun, girls hang out, date night, group activity. I definitely will recommend

There is duck bowling, which means they're small balls and pins, but they're only four lanes, so if you don't make a reservation, you won't be able to bowl. The families that were playing were enjoying themselves. I would come here to bowl and have specific, easy-to-make drinks. We grabbed seats at the bar because the restaurant seemed full, and sports were on the TVs. The bar seats were comfy, with backs on them, and there was a bar to rest your foot. It took a minute to get service, as it seems the bartender is the only one for the whole place. Maybe they need another bartender when the bowling alley and restaurant are both complete. I had an espresso martini, which was too sweet for me. My husband had a mule and thought it was good. My second drink was a tall Titos vodka soda. The bartender informed us that the menu changes on Tuesday, so they have no more crab, which is what I wanted. I was going to order the crab dip and the seafood mac & cheese. We pivoted to fried green tomatoes that were a little too breaded and cooked for me, but the sauce was good. We did get the seafood mac & cheese, but it did not have much shrimp on it. The shells were overcooked and combined, so you had to separate them and cover them in sauce, or the bite didn't have enough flavor. Also, the cheese sauce was a little soupy.

I've gone to the bar on multiple occasions to get just cornbread and an entree to go as well as when I have had reservations to dine in, I've seen people come in, just go to the bar and order take out. I'm really disappointed at this experience and it seems like every time I go to South, It's a different experience and a different enforcement of rules.

My husband, originally from Philadelphia, had heard great things about South and wanted to check it out. Our visit was a bit last-minute and we didn't have a reservation, but the front-of-house staff was incredibly accommodating, and we were seated without much of a wait. The place is cute - not super fancy but also not too casual. For my entrée, I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Crispy Duck Breast with peach demi-glace, haricot verts, and brown sugar mashed sweet potatoes. The duck breast was excellent--perfectly cooked medium with great flavor. The mashed sweet potatoes were good, though not quite as sweet or flavorful as I expected, so I didn't eat much of them. My husband ordered the Low Country Catfish & Gulf Shrimp with cornmeal-fried catfish, sautéed shrimp, broccolini, collard pesto rice, and tomato-okra sauce. He absolutely raved about every bite and thoroughly enjoyed the dish. However, the true stars of the meal were the sides. The Freshly Baked Skillet Cornbread with Steen's cane syrup and honey butter and the Classic Mac & Cheese made with a blend of four cheeses and sweet cream custard were phenomenal. Both came out piping hot and incredibly flavorful--so good that just thinking about them makes me want to go back for more. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and would definitely recommend South. Pro tip: They also offer live music with dinner service in a separate room. Don't make our mistake--be sure to make a reservation if you want to enjoy that part of the experience!
