My cousin was in town and she wanted to check this place out. We got lucky and 2 chairs opened up soon after we placed our order. We ordered the Tapsilog to share and it was large enough for the 2 of us. The meat was slightly tough to cut through but the flavor made up for it. The eggs, vegetables, and rice paired well with the dish. I would love to try the Tocilog and Spamsilog in the future!

Hand pies, hand pies, hand pies!!! The beef ones to be exact! I recommend them as they have the most wonderful ratio of vegetables & ground beef! Yum! The cashier who cashed me out was so mannerly & full of smiles! There are useful, standup tables or chairs next to a counter if you're looking to eat your food while it's still hot!

This was such a diamond of a spot in the Reading terminal! Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my chicken adobo that I ordered, but it was a massive helping, and there was no way I could finish it in one sitting (I'm a 5'1 female about 140lbs for reference). The portions here are fantastic! The sisig was pretty good! We spoke to the owner and she said that it's her healthy version of it. My boyfriend is Filipino, so he told me that it does not usually have bell peppers in it but he still enjoyed it. I tried it as well and also really liked it. Whenever I come back, Tita totally will get my business again!

I heard about this Filipino place in Reading Terminal from my brother and I looked it up. From the reviews, this is one of the best Filipino food in Philadelphia. It was my first time in Reading Terminal so we searched and searched until we found it. They have countertop service and they placed Filipino placemats (made of abaca or raffia) in front of us for an authentic experience. We ordered a longsilog and ube fries. We weren't expecting the longsilog to be so big! I loved the garlic rice and the side salad. And it came with two eggs! The ube fries were good but I didn't like the Parmesan cheese on top. The employees were nice and had a nice conversation with Ilyana. The ambiance is inside a food hall so it was hard to get an authentic Filipino feel but I grew up in a Filipino household so I've had that experience already. I'm just here for the Filipino food since I rarely have it myself.

Do you need Filipino Food in Philly?!?! Yea you do! This place has some of the best garlic rice I have ever had. And the customer service is great overall it wasn't the best Filipino food I have had but it was good! The owner and service is amazing and I will be back. That's enough said!!! Go check them out!!!

Tambayan is a Filipino spot tucked in the back of Reading Terminal Market near the restrooms. I only tried the halo-halo, so I can't speak for the full menu, but it was definitely on the overly sweet side -- even for a dessert that's supposed to be sweet. At $14, it felt a bit overpriced, definitely leaning into tourist trap territory. Service was moderately quick considering how many people were in line, and the steamed buns in the front display looked fresh and inviting. My partner, who's familiar with Filipino food, said the halo-halo was pretty authentic, just a little too sweet for his taste too. There's limited seating -- mostly standing spots up front -- and unfortunately, you do catch occasional whiffs from the nearby bathrooms, especially on warmer days. I'd come back to try the savory dishes, but I'd skip the dessert next time.

This place caught my eye when I walked in. I love Filipino food so I was excited to pick it up for take out. I ordered lumpia which came with rice and wanted to order the ube fries but they were out :/ I got the pancit instead with shrimp. The lumpia is pretty good! Filled with meat and veggies. I like the sweet sauce that came with it. The pancit however was disappointing. It was soggy with too much sauce. I also got four shrimp (which were good btw) and a pound of noodles and veggies. The flavors really didn't hit for me either. Worth trying again but maybe just for he appetizers

This is you there storefront Tambayan, located in the back corner of Reading Market Terminal. I'm visiting Philadelphia for 2 days and this food was both ethnic and excellent. I ordered Embutido which is a pork meatloaf log with rice and a wonderful smokey sauce that has no spicy heat but lots of hot pepper flavor somehow. 10/10 would recommend to Filipinos and anyone who wants to try a yummy new ethnic niche.n #Embutido

Tambayan is located inside the reading terminal market and perhaps the only Filipino spot inside there. Offering both great breakfast and lunch options they offer a variety of meat and vegetarian options. For you to try authentic Filipino food. I had to try their ube fries which were popular. They looked different than normal fries but tasted more like sweet potato fries. They have about a dozen seats for you to sit at if you don't want to take it to go. Service was friendly and fast definitely a great place to eat lunch.

When we got to town, we headed over to Reading Market and were so excited to find a Filipino restaurant stall! We were lucky enough to meet the owner, who was there that morning, and she was super nice and friendly. We ordered LongSilog and TapSilog, and the mango drink we had was super fresh. The seating was great -- you could either sit at the high-top or grab a table with chairs just behind it. Having Filipino food while we're on vacation is always a must for us, and this spot did not disappoint!

I've eaten food from Tambayan before but this was the first fine sitting down and eating here. It was easy to find seats at their bar. Everyone there was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and came out quickly. We ordered the lumpia and chicken adobe. The lumpia was crispy and filled with pork and veggies. One order came with 3 pieces. The chicken adobe was something new for me to try. The chicken was very tender and flavorful and came with a side of rice. The ice tea drink was fun, with a green jelly at the bottom. I would have wanted it with less ice next time. Next time you're in Reading Terminal, definitely stop by for Filipino food.

They've been hyping up this spot for ages and I was glad to have our new extended family all give them a try! For our appetizer, we ordered the Lumpia. Decent enough, but nothing special. That said, not sure how special lumpia can get since it's a simple spring roll. We ordered the South Philly Laing for a small plate, which was surprisingly bland. Because it was broccoli rabe in coconut milk, I excepted a little sweetness from the coconut milk, but no...nothing...not sweet, not savory, not anything. No flavor whatsoever. For the entree, we ordered the large Sisig with Garlic Rice, which was actually pretty good! It was pretty much everything I expect from a good sisig -- crispy, chewy, and tasty. In fact, this standout might be the best sisig I've had so far in Philly! I might even come back with a couple San Miguels (BYOB) and have it again! Finally, we ordered the Turon for dessert, which didn't dazzle me but pleased my dinner partner. Since it is basically a banana spring roll with caramel sauce, I'm not sure how dazzling this dessert can get, but it wasn't bad. I'll try the cheesecake next time. Lumpia: 3/5 Sisig (Large): 4/5 Garlic Rice: 4/5 South Philly Laing: 2/5 Turon: 3/5 So, again, not bad, but they could definitely work on some things... The major one being service, which was friendly but kind of slow and inattentive. Our appetizer (Lumpia) and small plate (South Philly Laing) arrived at the table in a timely manner, but it took a WHILE for our entree to arrive after that. We actually wanted to eat our laing as a side vegetable with our entree, but it took so long for our entree to come out that the laing got cold and we finally broke down and had to finish it before the entree arrived. No one checked in on us until... The entree (Sisig & Garlic Rice) arrived. After these hit the table, no one checked on us again until we were halfway through the meal (first and only check-in), but then the server disappeared again! Once we finished the entree, we wanted to grab some to-go boxes and the desert menu. Again, we waited for a WHILE for the server to return, but eventually had to flag him down, which wasn't easy because both servers were a little too busy entertaining the customers at the counter. We were just trying to respect the "house" rules (written on the menu) of eating and getting out of there in 90 minutes, but the house wasn't really trying to help us help them. No shade on the "time limit," though, as the space is cozy -- yet minimalist and cute. And we did come early enough (5PM) that it wasn't super-crowded, so maybe the staff were trying to be cool by not trying to rush us out of there.
