Here are my two HIGHEST recommendations: get the garlic shrimp with sausage (ask for extra bread) and the half roasted chicken with ribs, get a SMALL side of black beans. The chicken and ribs are enough to feed two people easily, but you truly CAN NOT miss out on these garlic shrimp. I dream of them often and think about taking the one hour drive to Flemington just to get them. The service was also extremely friendly and were not bothered that our kids were playing with Legos on the table and we kept asking for additional orders of things we liked....like the shrimp and sausage. Even though I am a Louis Prima fan (sorry for the obscure reference) the bone to meat ratio just doesn't make up for the higher fat content. At least for me. This guys ribs changed that. You don't eat these ribs so much as you hold them up and allow the meat to dive into your mouth like an Olympian off the 10 meter platform. They are that good. And I have eaten enough brisket in my life that writing a review including a reference to pork is probably something I shouldn't do publicly, but his is top notch. Lastly, I come on this site and often see reviews regarding the personal nature of the proprietor of the business, which are sometimes so vicious and misplaced, it is not a mystery why the writers of South Park want to feed some of the members of this site what they want to feed them. To that end, if you have a problem with either Dan or his staff, I would have to say that the problem is most likely with you. They couldn't be nicer, more courteous and helpful. I know that sounds like a lot for serving somebody BBQ but those fairgrounds on a weekend can be a certified nuthouse. At no time did I see anyone lose their patience or desire to help the customers. If you visit their website, they offer coupons (e.g., $1 off brownies, free pretzel w/ purchase of a milkshake, etc.) you can print out. Normally, it is only open Thursday through Saturday. During certain holidays they do open other days of the week. For Christmas week, they're open Monday through Wednesday since they're closed on December 25th and 26th. For New Year's week, they're open Wednesday since they're closed on Thursday (New Year's Day).

Stangl also hosts a weekly artisan farmers' market and bi-monthly live music and art events. It really is a growing creative community. Blue Fish Grill doesn't have a bar, but they do allow BYOB.
