The food was excellent and served hot. The parking was ridiculous. We had to park at the beach and walk to the restaurant. The band was crazy loud and we couldn't talk to our friends. Sure the sunset happened but the view wasn't great. There was some huge building or shipping crane in our view. Also very crowded although the call ahead helped you get seated faster. read more

Dana was amazing! She took great care of us and was super nice! Our food was great and we didn't have wait long for our plates. I got a double stack of pancakes and 2 eggs over easy. They were perfect. We were celebrating a neighbor's 75th birthday. We met as a small group for breakfast and we had a great time. I've been to this location many times just because of the nice view of the water. The place is always packed and the food is always decent. I typically only order the handheld's as I haven't really found anything on the menu that interests me. So that was the first time I tried a burger from the place and it was decent. Nothing Wright home about but for the price and view you can't go wrong. read more

This was a large and loud spot with seating on the water along with plenty of tables inside too. There was an outdoor bar present as well. The parking lot was small, but additional parking was across from the marina. The service was appreciated while the menu had a number of intriguing options to pick from. We started with the shrimp ceviche ($16.50). It came with lime juice, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeno, olive oil, and avocado served with saltine crackers. This was okay. The shrimp was cooked so I would not classify this as ceviche per say. There needed to just be more seasoning present regardless. For an entrée, I had the catch of the day which was grouper on the day I attended. I opted it for to be blackened. It came with a side which I chose the vegetable of the day which was carrots. It also came with coconut rice, tropical salsa, and butter. Again, this was decent. The grouper was an appropriate size, but not seasoned completely. The parts where it was seasoned was nicely done. My husband and I purchased our snowbird home in Nokomis last year, and since arriving we have repeatedly been told that Pop's is a must-visit local favorite. This week, we had friends visiting from Missouri to celebrate her birthday, and we chose Pop's for an early birthday dinner, hoping it would be a special experience. (We had planned dessert afterward at Venice Creamery.) We explained to our friends that although we had not yet dined at Pop's, it came highly recommended and seemed like the perfect place to celebrate. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. While my friend enjoyed the shrimp served in the pineapple bowl, the rest of the meals were disappointing. I ordered the grilled grouper, which was extremely dry and lacked flavor. Even after mixing it with the coconut rice and adding salt, I was unable to eat it. My husband ordered a blackened grouper sandwich but could not eat it due to the unpleasant seasoning. My friend's husband tried to add onions and toppings from his wife's dish to make his grouper more palatable, and he also discovered a bone in the fish. Overall, the dining experience was very poor from a food standpoint. I do want to note that the staff was pleasant and attentive, and we chose not to complain at the time, as we simply wanted to leave. I have never written a complaint about a restaurant before, but I was genuinely embarrassed to have brought our guests here for a birthday celebration. Honestly: I was hesitant at first. But I truly regret those thoughts because my whole party of 10 loved it! We were here on vacation and someone recommended this place. I have to say, I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of my plate which is very odd for me. I LOVED my lobster sandwich and my husband got the grouper sandwich and that was delicious as well! Everyone agreed that is was very fresh and tasty! Price was good, ambiance is nice and tropical. Indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of parking. Wow, what a place! This is more like a complex, with lots of outdoor and covered dining overlooking the water, multiple bar areas, and even replete with a gift shop! I was thoroughly impressed and it seems the establishment was relatively newly renovated and the place looks awesome! I enjoyed a nice beverage here on the outdoor covered patio. Amazing place! My grandparents come here regularly cause they're locals and this is their go-to dining spot. They've got great parking, their restaurant is right next to the water which is so nice for a dining experience. Their menu is super huge and has all kinds of food to select from. As a pescatarian I found this place very accessible, I also noticed that you could find some vegetarian options on the menu for my vegetarian friends. Their drink selection is great, food is good value and delicious. Great service from the servers. Would recommend! Get rid of the flies and get rid of the waiter David! The amount of flies is disgusting and after I asked David for a fly fan he rudely said no and after another waiter got one for the table David decided to tell me I am a bad roll model in front of my daughters. After speaking with manager because David sent her over and said I was harassing him covering his own a**, manager said she would speak with him and clearly did not because as I was leaving with my family he said I was a bad mother. Wth is wrong with the narcissist physco waiter they have working there. It's bad enough that pops is a tourist trap with just ok food but great views on water. At least get rid of the obscene amount of flies and horrible service people that are just miserable and rude! I am a local and always bring incoming family there that ask but -NEVER AGAIN!!! Honestly surprised health dept hasn't come in and seen all the flies on tables and food. Just visited today @ 4:30. What a busy space! Parking can be tricky but with some patience, you should find a spot. This spot has a few different areas. A tiki bar thru the gift shop, a bar area more inside and the rest of the large restaurant with different views. Tons of workers throughout, so they work hard to get everyone served. Prices are on the high end (Grouper sandwich $24 for example), but it is a pricey fish and this was a fresh catch selection. Mahi mahi fish tacos (2) $19, and $20 for a Chicken sandwich with bacon and truffle fries, 5pcs of Coconut Shrimp for $16. Dinner for three $120 before tip with one drink per person and an app was tough to swallow. Still a very fun meal with a super friendly service. read more

Made it back inside this Nokomis institution and got lucky with great sunset water view seats by the A plus DJ. Excellent server. Excellent blackened grouper for both hubby and me. Friends had a salad and fish sandwich. Excellent key lime pie. Oyster Rockefellers were just okay; I make better. It is crowded here. Their "reservation/waitlist" system via Yelp worked for us--just 20 minutes after preferred time. We were ok with that. Quality of Florida seafood is very good here. Drinks good. This is one of the busiest, biggest waterside/dock restaurants in the area and the food is definitely a cut above the overwhelming majority of competitors. This is a really busy place and the only reason I'm not rating 5-stars is that the food, while fresh and properly prepared, is not very flavorful (i.e. - limited to no seasoning). I get that they are serving primarily snowbirds and people from the upper Midwest and potentially Canadians so if that's you? You'll love the food. The actual food items we received (seafood boil, ceviche) contained fresh, well-prepared ingredients. Just for my/our taste ... limited flavor and seasoning. At Pop's, you're paying also for the atmosphere and venue. There are two music/bar areas, one upstairs, one down. There's a big gift shop and many seating areas to handle parties of all sizes and three bars. Prices are reasonable and on a par with others in the area and the busy, hardworking staff will help you under all circumstances. Bathrooms clean, wait staff hardworking and professional ... a very great example of our SW Florida waterside restaurants, docks, and grills with entertainment and fun. read more
