A friend of mine told us about Wally's poor house in Venice. My wife and I decided to check it out and have lunch what a beautiful little hidden gem. Nothing fancy pretty small inside. We only found one four table sitting area. All the rest were two tables. There was an extremely long bar. There is no "at your table Service" you place your order and get your drinks at the bar. The bartender was absolutely fantastic. She was super friendly and very helpful on the menu. I ended up with the homemade pierogi sampler. I thought it was delicious, but they didn't tell you they covered in fried onions. I would get it again and leave the onions off. my wife had a six dollar house salad. She said it was delicious. They have a great happy hour with selected half-price appetizers. We will definitely be going back. if you want an old town Florida feel, This is definitely the place for you. read more

OK, let's be clear: this is a 5* Dive Bar. This isn't a "fine dining establishment," it's not a Tiki Bar, it's a dive bar with good food and good service. Bruce and I pass by Wally's Pour House on 41 all the time and their sign out front clearly says "Homemade Pierogies." Bruce is part Polish and talks about pierogies all the time though we've been together 10 years and have not eaten them at home or out. Obviously back home in Cali you would only get pierogies at someone's home or church. Bruce says the little old Polish ladies would make them at Catholic church events and people would order them for Christmas. "It's like a Polish ravioli," he said -- but with different filling. So we went to another event last night and were still hungry afterward (this is a theme, maybe we are eating too much). We decided we were not interested in watching the Presidential debate, we drove past Wellen Park and I said, "Why don't we try the Pour House?" So, we did. I told him, "I already saw that it doesn't look like much on the outside but it's nice on the inside." Ha ha! So we went in and we were helped by the nicest, most professional bar server ever. We ordered a ton of food and she even made fun of us. I told her, "Yes, we are pigs." Bruce got a cheesesteak (he said was "good" - another FL rarity), 6 potato & onion pierogies, and I got a Reuben sandwich. I had the loaded High Noon, which is a tall glass, a shot of flavored vodka and the High Noon which you can refresh the glass with. What an ideal cool tall drink to sit and sip! This place has great prices on food and drinks and guess what? Everything was hot, fresh, and good and this was at 9:00 p.m. on a Thursday night. Good luck trying to find decent hot fresh food around here at 9:00 p.m. on a weeknight-- Where ya gonna go? Wally's Pour House! They have a big menu, plenty of burgers and sandwiches, the pierogies, and soups and salads. *the kitchen closes at 11:00*. Wally's Pour House is friendly, and a genuine neighborhood bar. We shouldn't call them dive bars. We should call them good, friendly pubs, like in the UK. If somebody's enough of a wimp or self-entitled to comment "smoking is allowed" well guess what? No one was smoking in there. If you can't tolerate smoke in a bar then don't go in one, period. I say this as a lifelong Cali resident where it hasn't been allowed since the 80s. 1-star review, "smoking allowed" - this is a FIVE STAR DIVE BAR, lady. I used to frequent Wally's for lunch when I worked in Venice 15 yrs ago, other than new owners not much has changed. Prices are reasonable, food is good. Sometimes the little holes in the wall are the best. The bartender is also the wait Staff, so you might have to walk the 10" over to the bar to pick your food up,it's worth the short walk!! I still tip the 20% because they're so friendly, and I watched her slide a mug of beer most of the Length of the long polished bar without spilling a drop, the entertainment is worth something!! Awesome place!! One word WOW! I'll be honest I didn't want to go in the outside looked shady but when I walked in they have a beautiful bar top great atmosphere our bar tender Eliana was top notch! Super friendly and works that bar like a champ! The drinks were on point and the prices awesome! I'm so happy we went to this place. This will be our go to for drinks . The kitchen was closed when we went but the other customers we met told us they make the best wings in town. We will definitely be back to try the wings!! every time we drive by this place I tell me my wife we need to stop and try it out. it is a bar with good food. Careful if smoke bothers you, they do allow smoking in here. I went with the steak burrito and my wife had the burger, we also ordered onion rings. we did not have high exceptions but once we got our food, our expectation changed. my wife's burger was a fresh thick burger, cooked as requested and very good. my burrito was also very good, lots of steak, rice and other ingredients. No other place exactly like this. The mix of personalities is a show worth watching. Over three years, I have only had Bud draft here until last night. Ordered a gin and tonic. Drink was made strong and a great $3.50 price, but the tonic was flat. I'll do a rum and coke next time. I only go here just before heading home because I leave smelling like smoke. We have been there many times over the years and never had a problem until today. We always sat at a table and had amazing service in the past and did not know that they no longer provide table service. The bartender was rude and purposely went outside to smoke a cigarette after we asked for a box for our leftovers and the check. When she finally came back inside she completely ignored us until we went up to the bar to ask for a box and the check again. She eventually came over with a box and slammed the check on the table saying that they don't do table service. My apologies that after many years of going there we were not aware of the change. We always enjoyed the food despite the smoking but to deal with rude service not worth it, I'd rather spend my money and tips on people that deserve it. I think the bartenders name was Michelle but not sure because she only gave us attitude and not her name. read more

We come here for drinks and pool. The place is small but its always busy. They do smoke inside which I am not a fan of, but I tend to stay in the corner next to the pool tables so its not that bad. Drinks are a-OK, service is good. read more

They only serve food till 4pm which is the only downside as I often get a craving for them when they are done serving. haha When I do get there at the right time the food is priced right and has great taste.
