First time order tonight via delivery. The cheesy sliders were great, I now don't have to travel to white manna! The smash burger was solid too. The sleeper hit that I didn't expect were the hot dogs! Great flavor and a decent snap, and the Texas sauce is also delicious. The chopped cheese was too much in the grease department, and the chicken sandwich was kind of dry. The fries were good, and because we got takeout they did sog a little but we still ate them. Rudest manager/owner I've ever met. Ordered hamburgers and cheese hamburgers that were so salty my wife and I almost couldn't eat them. I tried to complain and was told "don't come back, I won't serve you anymore". Is that what a restaurant says??? I always compare them to White Mannas in Hackensack and there is absolutely NO comparison. They are a second-rate knock-off and couldn't pick up White Mannas scraps. I've been to Pop's a bunch of times and previously posted mostly positive reviews. When the owner/manager wants to engage in fist-a-cuffs I draw then line. I'll be going to Dover Grill from now on. It's very unfortunate because I thought Pop's had a lot of potential...it just needed a little refinement. read more

Hot dog buns are too tough. They feel like they are stale, I don't think that they are just oddly hard. Dogs themselves are hit and mis. Different kinds on different visits. Some better than others. Toppings are consistently good, but not great. read more

Oh my gosh!!!!! Stopped here on a whim in that I was craving hot dogs but had actually planned to stop somewhere else on the way to an errand I had to run this afternoon. I saw all the banners and the huge cheerful "NOW OPEN" sign and pulled right in!!! First impressions: Friendly staff, old-time feel of ordering at the window, and great American Grill menu. Pop's Place is THE PLACE for Classic American Grill food! When I asked what the Texas All the Way sauce was, a nice gentleman (presumably one of the owners/managers) asked me right away if I'd like a sample and he gave me a spoon and mini cup of this heavenly chili sauce. I went with the Texas All-The-Way Hotdog Box. The hot dog box combo includes your Dog your way, "Spud" (fries the way you like), and "pop" (soda of course... love that they call it pop...it's refreshing and that pun is and is not intended HAHA). Being raised by a non-Jersey native mom, this is a neat touch. Oh, the Texas ATW is a dog with mustard (brown yay!), diced onions, and the ATW sauce. It was gone in about three bites give or take......SUPER SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! You can upgrade anything really so it's a customizable menu. I didn't have room for dessert but next time I'm saving room so I can get a Custard Treat or Float. My meal was under $8 and I think that's a great deal for a special combo (a non-plain dog)!!! In case you're wondering, the dogs are Sabrett, in my world, the King of All Dogs!!! Lately I've been feeling really nostalgic and I needed this emotional and gastronomic boost!!! The first time visiting was back when they first opened so bear with me on this emotional roller coaster. Visit one: Great atmosphere, they were obviously still figuring things out and there was no shade and Summer was in full swing. I scanned the menu for anything NOT riddled with meat (I am about 90% vegetarian, love cheese and eat actual fish fish)... "fries with cheese and texas all the way sauce" (sounded zesty to me and YAY something I could eat!) I am NOT a stuck up vegetarian so I do not care if it's cooked in the same kitchen etc etc.. *food arrives with a giant pile of meat sauce on it*.. so I gently suggested that they may be express to patrons that Texas All the Way Sauce is basically chili and not necessarily a sauce. I asked "You all have a kids menu maybe a grilled cheese? it's just the bun with cheese on the grill and I know a lot of people may have picky eaters or be like me :)" Response: oh...no we don't do that ... In my humble opinion, I thought it was an easy modification that could bring in a lot more business! nope. Visit two: (my thoughts) "okay! the cheese fries were kind of good, (I modified the previous meat piled fries during the first visit and they fixed the order no problem) let's try again, and maybe they heard me out about adding a description to the "sauce" or adding a simple grilled cheese! After all, their menu is a tv screen!" I approach the booth with construction occurring around.. nope. "Cheese fries with light cheese sauce please!" Visit ??: They gypped me on the number of fries (when I say I could count them visually.. 12 fries and not large ones either) but the owner said this was the standard amount (4oz?) so I apologize for telling on the kitchen but I'd suggest using their judgment rather than management's guidelines on this one. Anyone would be confused if they paid ~$3 and some change for what I received. The cheese fries are really good and unique! This may be the reason a potato lover keeps crawling back to have the bare minimum nutrients for lunch. Where else in the area can you get cheese fries that aren't just warmed canned cheese dumped on subpar fries? I don't know of one but let me know if you find out! *Sidenote: I will add, the strawberry lemonade started VERY bitter and has progressively gotten better as Pop's has been open so I appreciate that as well!* In conclusion, I will say VEGETARIANS BEWARE YOU WILL LEAVE MINIMUMALLY SATISFIED. VEGANS YOU WILL LEAVE VERY SAD. I know many people may not care about this demographic but I'm here to represent the team of us who value the nostalgia of places like this. read more

The sliders and smash burgers were very good. The onion rings were crispy and tasty. The root beer floats were made with soft serve custard I believe and were good. I'd like a little more cream though. It wasn't busy when we went on a Sunday evening so the service was reasonably quick. Overall the place looked clean and the outdoor tables adjacent to the parking lot were clean and offered plenty of space. If you like burgers and dogs this is a good spot. read more

Love that I can get a baked potato here with chives and sour cream with a hot dog or sliders! One can also get a loaded spud, as well. Am a fan of their Chicago dog and it comes on a poppy seeded roll, as it should. Grilled onions and pickles are perfect on the sliders. Lemonade tastes home made and is deliciously refreshing without the cloying sweetness or fake taste I have had elsewhere. I stop by whenever I am in the area. Great food at great prices. They have chicken $ rib eye sandwiches, as well as shakes and ice cream, but as we are in the area just once every few months or so we stick with the above. Sliders taste so dang good and the dogs are Sabrett, from what I recall. This place is just great! read more

I am reading the reviews and they all seem pretty stellar. The overall is roughly 4.5 stars. I am giving this review one star. If I could give it less I would. My wife and I had dinner there last night and we ordered a hotdog, french fries and a fountain drink. The order was totally wrong. We ordered hotdogs with just sauce on them but received them "all the way". Also, one of the drinks tasted like medicine! Once we received the hotdogs and took a bite, we were surprised at how bad they really tasted. The sauce was not palatable, and the Sabrett hotdog is a very low end hotdog to serve. We have eaten at other hotdog establishments (the Goffle Grill in Hawthorne, Johnny and Hanges in Fairlawn, the Hot Grill in Clifton, etc.). The hotdogs and sauces at these restaurants are far superior. Suggest that reviewers eat at one of these places and then compare it to pops place. The French fries were the only saving grace at this establishment. Double thumbs down to the service, and the food. Needless to say, we will not be eating here again. It is a shame because it could be so much better. Suggest getting better high-quality hotdogs and revamping your sauce recipe. read more

Loved that they had a daily special of buy 2 dogs, get 1 free, & same for sliders!. Sliders were good not overly cooked & came w sauté onions, cheese & pickles. Went to pops for the first time today ordered the burger sliders, which were very good service was a little slow however there are new restaurant I'm sure that will increase with time, however a suggestion would be to make regular size burgers and broaden your menu a little bit and also it was pouring rain out today they should think about purchasing an awning so people could wait under there instead of going to their cars. One other area of concern is there's only one window to order and one window to pick up, when this place gets busy it's gonna be hard to keep up read more

Cute and clean. BUT as far as hotdogs this is not the place! The hot dogs are salty and taste like bologna. I got one plain, one just cheese, and one All-The-Way. And an order of fries All-The-Way. I didn't finish any of them. The fries were crispy and fried well, but the all the way topping ( which looks better then it tasted) was too salty for me and the same for the dogs! Went to Pop's Place with my grandson today and had an AMAZING experience. As you can see I gave it a 5 star rating but it really deserves a TEN STAR RATING. ********** The hot dogs all the way are really great and I have been eating them since I was a boy and I am OLD now! The service is great, Freddie was awesome and chatted with us and then one of the owners came to check on us to see how the food was. This is TRUELY great service. Attention to detail with the food and so friendly to their customers. I will DEFINATELY be back again to enjoy a meal that I have loved since being a boy. Another plus is that the servings are BIG and we both left VERY FULL and VERY HAPPY. One more note, as an owner of my own business before I retired, I URGE all to support local businesses and regardless of where you live, the trip to Pop's Place is well worth it- go there, you won't regret it! read more
