Pop's Place is super cute! It's a great place to take kids for a quick and no-frills meal. It reminds me alot of a Stewart's. Think hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, shakes, chicken nuggets, etc. They elevate it though! There are lots of fun varieties of burgers, hot dogs, wraps, and more. I really liked my Chicago style dog which came loaded with all of the fixings. Sometimes (especially over Memorial Day Weekend) you're just craving something like this, and it really hit the spot. Meal boxes come with a large amount of food including fries and a drink. The fries were perfectly crispy and I absolutely loved the house sauce for dipping. They have a ton of seating inside, as well as a large shaded outdoor area with picnic tables. My kids can be an absolute mess when we go out to eat, so it was nice to post up outside in the picnic area. There was also tons of space for them to run around in which was perfect. Only taking off a star because of a weird situation with the door. They have a door that requires pulling down a handle to open. Considering that most folks are heading outside with trays of food, it would be smart to have a door that can swing open when kicked. This felt very difficult to do and I even ended up dropping my drink and having to buy another. Mostly my fault and my clumsiness, but thinking more about it a different door would make a ton of sense here. Overall - quick and simple kid friendly food in a kid friendly space made for an easy lunch experience. We'd definitely come back. read more

Pop's Place just posted that they will be closing its doors. This is a shame and sadly, so many independent smaller restaurants are finding it impossible to navigate the current business climate. The place had that cool roadside restaurant ambiance, a friendly staff and the menu, while simple, was good. I wish all involved the best of luck in their future endeavors. read more

Recently had the chance to stop in to Pop's Place in Rockaway, NJ with some foodie buddies for what ended up being an epic sampling session. Breakfast, lunch, dessert...we had it all. I'll say one thing right off the jump, Pop's has some of the nicest and helpful staff I've come in contact with, which always makes the experience just that much better. Started off with a couple breakfast items and tried out "The Breakfast Bomb" and some Jersey Meat, Egg, and cheese sliders (I refuse to debate whether it's pork roll or Taylor ham...Jersey Meat it is.). The breakfast bomb was delicious. How can you not love the combo of sausage, bacon, and Jersey meat all backed into one sandwich with egg and cheese? It's physically impossible. And as good as that was, if you remove the bacon/sausage, those sliders were still excellent on their own. I'd order either of these items for breakfast without even blinking twice. Now we get into some doggies!! I've grown fond of the dogs on my travels because it's how I really got into blogging in the first place. It was something easy that I knew my kids would eat (at the time they were super picky) so I started trying them out all over. With that said, the all the way dog here with the chili, onion, and mustard is one of the best I've had. The chili sauce here is meaty, has a lot of flavor, they put plenty of it, and it looks appealing. At nearly every place I get an all the way, at least one of those four things to hit on is missing. Not at Pop's. The Chicago dog simply cannot be slept on either. It doesn't have the trademark "bright green relish", but it doesn't need it. The flavor is spot on, and I mean spot on. This is better than some of the Chicago dogs I've had ... in Chicago. If these toppings fall in your wheelhouse of enjoyment, it's worth a look. The Italian Dog was also a treat. There is a constant debate over what type of roll and what type of potatoes to use for these so you're never going to be able to please everyone on this item if you're a restaurant. I found this to be a good dog, regardless of preferences on those items. Closed out with a killer vanilla shake that I finished before anyone else was even halfway through theirs. If you know me, you know that's a big statement because I'm really not into sweets like that typically, I'm more of a savory guy. This shake had excellent flavor and viscosity though and was topped with fresh real whipped cream and sprinkles. It honestly was a real treat. The only other important thing to note (aside from it being outrageously easy to get to, it's right on the highway), is that they have created a dining area suited for all weather conditions. It is enclosed with heaters for the winter time and they can roll down the windows for nicer weather. There is also an outdoor seating area you can use. One of the easiest things I've ever been able to say...Pop's Place in Rockaway, NJ - Didn't Suck! read more

Was in the area for an event and needed dinner. Yelp brought me here. I had the classic chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken sandwich was good...but it was also basic. It didn't taste any different than any other chicken sandwich I've had. The fries were crispy and tasty. Service was basic. read more

Pop's Place - Hot Dogs Near Me - Rockaway, New Jersey

Stopped in this morning at Pop's Place on Route 48 E. In Rockaway Township after hearing quite a few rave reviews. Cozy, old school style looking little roadside, classic style NJ eatery serving up a selection of Sabrett specialty hot dogs , sandwiches , burgers , grilled chicken boxes, spuds and rings, in addition to a mouth watering selection of your traditional New Jersey breakfast choices. Super fast and friendly service and immaculately clean, it was a family friendly joint to just sit, relax, and stuff your face with a variety of your favorite menu items, be it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I went with Pop's Breakfast Bomb. Taylor Ham (6 slices, beautifully charred), Sausage Patty, 2 Eggs, several slices of American Cheese, on a toasted Brioche Bun. WOW! This sandwich was as good as it sounds. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, and ample enough for two people. TeamTaylorNJ, if you haven't stopped by as of yet. Give it a try. Great stop, great food, nice people. Good luck and continued success. 03/30/2024 read more

@BigDudesBigFoods finally made the 10 minute drive to @PopsPlaceNJ on Rt. 46 in #RockawayNJ on our perpetual quest to support small business. Between the 6 of us, we tackled a decent percentage of Pop's menu. I got Pop's Breakfast Bomb combo. H&O got the grilled cheese and nuggets boxes from the kids menu. Mike got the BBQ Cheddar Bacon Chicken Sandwich Box . Joe and Zack got an assortment dogs. and a #SmashBurger there were fries and onion rings everywhere. We liked the house sauce but H&O stuck with the ketchup. Freddy Jr. treated us like family (sorry about the blurry pic) #PopsPlace has an old timey roadside burger stand feel but it's so well kept, you would think that it just opened. You can sit inside or out. Pop's is at a level above fast food because everything is made to order. We loved our meals and I'm sure you will too. #BigDudesBigFoods #SupportSmallBusiness #BDBFCertified #BDBF read more

Proof that you don't need to travel to Passaic, Bergen or Hudson County to get some decent food and can find it in Morris County. Today's visit was close to home and I lhave passed it countless times without stopping in. Located on Route 46 in Rockaway is where Pop's Place calls home and will be another place to add to the rotation. Part of the charm in visiting this location is that it once was a Stewart's several years ago (thanks Google for the picture) so there is a nostalgic part of the visit, yet the transformation of the new location brings you to a totally different dinning experience that us unique to Pop's. Plan was to grab a few dogs and provide a fair and honest review on a few of their different dogs but failed you in that after viewing the menu, realized I had to try one of their signature sliders instead. I ended up getting a chili dog with onions with a side of onion rings and a classic slider with grilled onions. Food was super tasty and came out relatively quickly. Arrived a tad before lunch rush and had no problem getting a table. While I was skeptical about eating there or in my car on a chilly January day, I was surprised how well the canopy and vinyl sides kept the dinning area warm and kept out most of the cold. The heaters were blasting and the dinning experience was rather enjoyable for a cold winters day. Definitely beats trying to struggle to eat in a car and not make a mess and getting chilli all over the car. Freddy, the General Manager, who served me was very friendly and was ready to assist with any questions about the menu. Overall a great visit and will added to the mix of places to go when I'm not looking to travel very far just got lunch. From my research prior to my visit, they use a Sabrett all beef natural casing dog 6-1 which raises the bar on quality of product they serve. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area or looking to go on a road trip. Another win for a Morris County establishment in my opinion. read more

Probably like a lot of people, when I heard Stewart's was being torn down, there was a feeling of sadness for nostalgia being gone. In this case, however, Pop's surpasses what was there. This is a new construction restaurant that is really nicely done. Pop's kept the feeling of an old time hamburger/hot dog stand. The place is clean, the menu great, and the staff very friendly. For our first visit here, I ordered the Chicago hot dog box and my wife had the cheesy sliders. We both chose cheese fries with our orders. The food was delicious! I'm always a fan of Chicago hot dogs and loved these. The star of the meal for us though were the ice cream floats. True to its history, they're made with Stewart's soda. I had orange vanilla and my wife had root beer. Fantastic! If you're in the Dover/Rockaway area and feeling the need for old fashioned American food, give Pop's a try! I know we'll be back! read more

I've wanted to try Pop's Place since they opened and today was the first day I could get here. This new hot dog joint is at the location of the old Stewart's in Rockaway and even though it's a little out of the way for me I'm pretty sure I'll be back. I've eaten a lot of dogs over the past few years and it was worth the drive. They apparently use a 6/1 Sabrett all beef dog and they were pretty damn good. So I ordered two dogs to go - a Texas all the way with chili sauce, onions and mustard and one with just kraut and mustard. For the one with kraut and mustard I was pleasantly surprised that they use a spicy brown mustard. The kraut was tasty, but I liked that the taste of the dog came through. The Texas all the way was delicious. The chili sauce had a nice taste and a little more meat in it than some of the other places I've hit the past few years. The buns, though delicious and soft, seemed to be a bit big for these dogs...each bite had a touch too much bread...however the roll stood up to the toppings so I can't fault the rolls too much. I heard the cashier tell the person in front of me that they had great shakes so I ordered a Chocolate shake to share with my daughter. It tasted great, but I like my shakes a LOT thicker...like where you struggle to use a straw. As I said, very tasty dogs will bring me back-and that's really what it's about. read more

So much deliciousness out of such a small building. Stopped by for the soft opening of this brand new business in town, "Pop's Place" where they're serving up some seriously amazing looking Burgers, Chicken, Sliders, and Hot Dog boxes. First time here I tried the Chicago Dog box with a side of Fries and a Pepsi which just happened to make for one heck of a delicious lunch. The Sabrett dog, which to Me is the Gold Standard of Hotdogs, had an outstanding crunch to it and all the fresh fixings were the perfect complements to this awesomely satisfying meal.   Pop's is located on Route 46 right where the old Stewart's drive in used to be. So now that You know where it is and now that You know that it's open, why aren't You here already? Lol, No Worries, More For Me!!  Come And Get Your Munch On!! read more

In terms of flavor, depth of menu, and food quality, there's nothing here you couldn't easily achieve at home. Pop's is a perfectly fine place to make as a pitstop if you're driving through. It's got decent amenities. They recently installed shade covers over their storefront, which accommodate 4 round tables, and there is a separate dining area with ~6 bench tables that is protected by umbrellas only. You can see from the street how busy they are and use that to decide whether you'll stop by. I happened in at 1:30 PM on a Saturday; I was the only person in line, and 4 tables were taken. My food came out right away. I've sampled the cheeseburger beef sliders, the grilled chicken, and their house lemonade. The beef came close to well-done, covered in grilled onions, and nestled in a non-toasted egg bun. From the onions, I got plenty of smoke, and from the beef, I got exactly what you got in grade school cafeterias. The grilled chicken was definitely overcooked. I tried to save it by adding their house BBQ sauce, which is unfortunately lacking in body. My lemonade needed more sugar, and the fries were dry. It is at least inexpensive, which makes it more family-friendly. read more

I've been wondering about this place for a while. I decided to try them out and picked up some sliders to enjoy during the Jets game. So first impressions, the place is very clean and I was greeted as I walked up by a very cheerful young lady. She was very patient with me, since it was my first time here and I couldn't decide what to get. She made some suggestions and I finally made up my mind. Cheesy sliders with reuben fries. Everything was cooked fresh to order and was served fast. I am So glad that I skipped the fast food giants, Pop Place is So much better! The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stares was the Root beer. Though I did enjoy the bottle of Stewart's I was kinda expecting it on Tap. I would have included a picture of the fries but they didn't make it home...mmmm I will definitely be back. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu. read more

Great food! I love the burger, and I love the fries. Texas all the way style is the way to go. Crispy and delicious. Burgers are smash style, a combo comes with 2 sliders. Great Visit and will Recommend you give them a try. Now for the details ! Plenty of parking and outdoor only seating. This is a walk up restaurant so if the weather is bad be prepared to take it to go. I pass this place daily and thought to give it a shot. We tried the nuggets box, slider box and strawberry lemonade. My sliders were great ! Bun was super fresh and the beef great and cooked great also. Fries were "cool" the kids got nuggets and they were okay. Portions I would consider totally fair. Not too big and not to small, based on the prices I think it was on par. I must give an honorable mention to the SPOTLESS restroom. My strawberry lemonade was not the best and I ended up sending it back, more tart than sweet. The staff was pretty straight forward, take your order and tell you to go wait. No abound beyond service but they were efficient. I will likely return to try a shake, and another slider. As always I suggest you try it for yourself. read more

I went on there Grand opening. Had a Chicago dog maybe the best I've had. It traditionally is a Vienna all beef but they use Sabrett all beef 6/1 no nuclear green relish which I don't like but standard green. I also had their Texas all the way mustard, onion, sauce. They steam there dogs then cooked on the flattop. Service was great owner & manager were very helpful. They also have chicken sandwiches, sliders, custard & more. I don't know. I'm just confused. Just called to place an order for my family to pick up. Wife was excited and it would be easy for the two little kids. The person who picked up said they were busy right now so can't take my order over the phone but I can come to the restaurant to place it. Not convenient at all for someone with a family to hear that. Update - just drove by a few minutes after calling and literally 3 cars there. Update 2 - still decided to order since I try to support local. Raising my stars from 1 to 4 cause overall the food was good and the workers were friendly. read more

I had the pleasure of accidentally stumbling upon this place before they formally opened and WOW, what the impression they left. They were giving out classic slider boxes to test out their process and work out the kinks before formally opening. I have since been back there at least 10 times because the classic slider box is the perfect amount of food. The sliders are topped with caramelized onions (or not if that's not your thing) with pickles on the side. They're tasty, with the perfect buns to compliment the delicious beef cooked to perfection. TJ and the rest of the staff are all about customer satisfaction and willing to the extra mile. I highly recommend that you at least give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more
