We have Been coming here for years- it never disappoints- stopped by again the other night, and very low-key. ( meaning that as a compliment) My family always loves to go for years- as it is easy peasy and reasonably quick -burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, Chx fingers, Chx sandwiches, fries, etc. Order at the counter and pay, and they call your name out when it's ready. Latest visit was to Dover Grill which based on its name is in fact located in Dover on Route 46. Can honestly say I've passed this spot countless number of times and have never bothered stopping in until recently. With a good choice of dogs to order from, picking was not easy but ended up ordering a chili dog with onions and a hot onion dog with a small side of fries. Came in after the typical lunch rush and was able to grab a stool inside. While some reviewers may say the place is dated, I will say the place is nostalgic and made for a great lunch atmosphere. The Hot dogs were tasty and the krinkle cut fries were served hot. Bummed that I've passed by so many times and never bothered stopping in. Will definitely add them to the rotation. Was prompted to stop in prior to them closing for the season. The good news is they are open for another month and close up on November 23 and will reopen in March 2024.. Both were very good, but I preferred the chili dog. (You really need to go to Chicago for an authentic one of theirs)! The hot dogs have great flavor. It's not gourmet food, it's just fun! I always order the Chili Dog with raw onions and small Chili Fries sauce on the side for dipping. The Dog itself has just the right amount of bite texture and it's served on a lightly toasted bun. Located right next door to the Dover Dairy ice cream shop- it sometimes makes for a super idea to hit the Grill for a meal and hit the Dairy shop for dessert, no brainer. Dover Grill is one of the best places in town! I remember coming here after football games across the street at Dover Middle School, and this place would be packed. My favorite and absolute go to, every time I come here is a hot onion cheese burgers, which are onions made in their house made hot sauce and put on a cheese burger. I had waited months for Dover Grill to reopen and I have to say, I'm a tiny bit of disappointed. Not in the dogs, but the service...but I'm hoping it was just a one-time thing since every hot dog fan I know seems to love this place. On a day when both my kids had a half-day I decided to leave work early and treat them to lunch. Parked across the street in their lot and walked in excited to finally try the place. Between the three of us we ordered 2 plain; 1 cheese; 1 chili; 1 chili cheese; and 1 all the way with mustard, grilled onions, Texas sauce, and cheese. We also ordered 3 sodas (mmmmm Boylans birch beer) and a large fries and I asked for a small container of the Texas Sauce to dip the fries because I knew neither kid would like the sauce (picky). This is where they screwed up the order as they put the Texas sauce ON the fries instead of giving me a cup for dipping. When I pointed out the mistake the girl at the counter told me I'd have to place another order to get the fries plain. Clearly this didn't make me happy as my order had already come to $27 so I didn't bother (my daughter wasn't a happy). Anyway, the dogs were very good. I'll admit I liked the chili much more than the Texas sauce, but the sauce wasn't bad...in fact I liked it much more in the dog (all the way) than on the fries. For the price I was expecting a little more size-wise from the dogs, but they were delicious. In a nutshell, once I get over the fries issue, I'm sure I'll stop back in...I'm a sucker for a good chili cheese dog. read more

I have often overlooked this place since the adjacent Dover Dairy Maid is the most visible from Rt 46. In fact, I went for the very first time today despite having ice cream over the years next door. From Rt 46, it seems there is no parking, however, they have a spacious private lot behind their building. Hot dogs, Texas wieners, hamburgers, fries with all the trimmings and in all different combinations are offered at very reasonable prices. The outside seems small yet, it is deceptive. Inside is clean, well organized and offers seating at their countertop which runs along the front and side windows of the building. Service was friendly and polite. The cooks on the grill were working hard and enjoying their work and it showed ! I tried one hot dog with kraut, mustard, and onions, a Texas wiener with their Texas sauce and a small order of fries. Everything was fresh, hot and nicely put together. Fries were crispy and hot as they were freshly made. The dogs were tasty and had a nice snap to them. The Texas sauce was well made, mild with plenty of finely ground beef. I think I prefer my hot dogs with mustard and kraut but, it was a nice change. On a mid October day, it was a nice bonus to be able to eat outside. The eating area was neat, clean and surprisingly peaceful. Hope I make it back before they shut down for the season.
