Terrible experience--overpriced and unprofessional. I contacted this garage door repair company to fix a wall-mounted garage door switch that had broken loose and caused a cable short. The technician showed up, completed the job in about 15 minutes, and then tried to charge me $150--well above the typical market rate of $80-$100 for this type of work. Less than two weeks later, the switch came loose again. I called the company back, and to their credit, they agreed to send someone out free of charge. Unfortunately, the second visit was even worse. The technician was rude and dismissive. He reattached the cable but left the switch dangling from the wall. When I pointed out that this was likely the reason it keeps coming loose, he snapped back with, "You literally called me out here for a missing screw." No--if he had secured it properly the first time, I wouldn't have needed a second visit. Any competent technician would've fixed this without being told. Bottom line: they overcharge, don't stand by their work, and treat customers with disrespect. Avoid this company. read more

I spoke with the owner who was very professional, and said they'd be there between 12 and 2 PM! Super fast! After a careful inspection and explanation of the issues with my garage door, he provided me a quote. The work was completed within a couple of hours, and his staff were very professional, knowledgeable, and fast. Overall wonderful experience! My garage door was not closing properly, and I was also needing a new remote control for the garage door. First, I feel that I was overcharged for the garage doors after a pressured sale. Second, they did not remove the old doors and door insulation and left the mess beside the house that I had to pay to have hauled away. Third, the door windows were installed in the middle section instead of at the top as requested. Thankfully, I saw this before they were done. Finally, they did not include a handle or an outside lock. There's no way to manually open the doors. Sorry, Pop's. This was lousy service. Oh, I forgot. They made an arithmetic error that could have cost me another hundred dollars had I not caught it. This was after they insisted on full payment before doing any work. My garage door was bent, malfunctioning, and was so loud is shook the house and woke up my daughter sleeping above. Pops came out and showed me a booklet of all my options. I said I wanted a super-quiet door and opener. So I paid extra for an insulated door and installation (over $2k). They came in and installed the door, which looked nice, and even though I said I would buy my own opener, they insisted the one they had on the truck was fine. The door worked okay, but the opener had terrible vibration. So they had to come out and re-install a new opener (obviously they just wanted to unload the cheap one they had). The new one was installed, and the door was much better than before, but still nowhere close to what other doors I see out there and how quiet they are. I asked why mine wasn't, and they insisted it's because the door was only double-insulated and not triple insulated. So I paid hundreds of dollars extra yet again to get the "triple" insulated, and it still wasn't anywhere as quiet. I asked them to come out to look at it, and the guy that came out said he could tell it wasn't right, but wasn't qualified to fix it and another person would come out. So I made yet another appointment for someone to come out, and they looked at it and said there was nothing wrong with my door and there's nothing he could do to change it. I dealt with it for a number of weeks, and then called and said I spent over $3k for a door that sounded cheap and did not work the way I wanted or was promised. I was then yelled at and told I was unreasonable. I had called another garage guy, and he said he could fix the problem for $300. When I told this to Pops, he didn't believe me and demanded the name of the person and that he wanted to come see what this guy did to fix the problem. I found this entirely unprofessional and I would never do that to another contractor. So I hung up and paid $300 for a guy to come out and do it right. And yes, now my garage door is super quiet and exactly what I always wanted. The new guy also mentioned that the installation wasn't done very well and pointed out a number of things Pops did wrong. Both of the springs on my garage door snapped and it was a monumental pain in the ass to not have an operating door. (Firstworldproblems, I know. Shut up) I called Pop's for a free estimate and they were able to come within the next couple of days. Once they arrived they looked everything over, assured me they could fix it, gave me a quote, and offered to fix it right away, maintaining total professionalism the entire time they were there. They were at my home less than an hour and just like that I had a working door again! Yay! Oh! 3yr warranty too! The reason for 4 stars, not 5? They gave me a quote, but left out the labor cost. So the price I thought I was paying increased significantly once the bill came. They also opened the garage window, and never closed it. I just had a technician from Pop's Garage Doors come out to my house. What an absolute rip off!!! The tech spent a whole 6 minutes working on the door and did a "lubrication and maintenance." They charged $112.00 for that and I saw the technician walk out with a spray can of WD40. He had a drill gun in his hand, but didn't even use it for the job. I am shocked. I am completely dissatisfied and will not use them again nor recommend them to anyone. They say that the average satisfied customer tells 3 people and the average dissatisfied customer tells 11 people. I am telling everyone. Also, they charged a 5% charge for credit cards. Called Infinity Garage Doors. Someone from Pop's Garage Door shows up in an unmarked white van. My door is only a couple months old but was jumping the cable. Repair person was here for less than an hour, did not use any parts, and charged us $500.00. After he left the door would not stay down, kept going up. We called and they said they would send someone on Sunday. I called back to ensure we wouldn't be charged again or for a weekend call. I was told their work is warranted for 6 months. Repair person shows up, here less than 30 minutes, said it was a different problem and wanted to charge us again. We said no. He then ask for gas money. Door still not fixed. read more

Things went well. The service provider. Shiran arrived on time and called 20 minutes before arrival. A confirmation text wad also sent they night before to confirm the Sunday morning appointment. The rollers were replaced, and the garage door was inspected, oiled and adjusted. The technician found that i needed a new spring, and it was replaced in the spot. He also diagnosed an issue with the sensor and the opener motor. He was unable to fix the 2nd issue that day, but assured me there would be prompt follow-up that week. The scheduler promptly followed up on of that week, and scheduled the 2nd service for the next business day. I'm very happy with the service and the technician, Nati, on the second call ad well. Just like so many of the reviewers, my garage door stopped opening on me unexpectedly. I started calling asking neighbors for recommendations as well as searching online. I filled out the short survey for Pop's Garage Door Service and immediately Willie started texting me. So instead of waiting to call around to get a few people to come out and give me estimates, I made an appointment for the day. When the technician diagnosed that it was a broken spring, just as my neighbors had, I said ok. When he quoted the price ($870), I almost fell down down. This quote was more than double what all 3 of my neighbors paid for the same repair. Of course the technician said he was 'replacing' my old spring system with a newer/improved system instead of repairing it. I asked for a breakout of what the $870 covered. Other than the price for the system, I never got a full breakdown of the cost for the labor, warranty and other individual parts. It bothered me so I asked who I could call to get a better understanding of what I was being charged so much for. He (Matt/Max) got Willie on his phone. I thought that was kinda weird since he wanted to speak with him first instead of just giving me the number to call myself. Guess they needed to discuss the price/get on the same page. Willie told me the average cost of the repair $400-$1000, so their price was in the medium range. I also mentioned the prices I saw in the reviews. He then said, ok I will knock off $120 (so $750). The breakdown on the invoice was $470 for the system/$280 for labor. The entire repair took less than an hour (verified by my cameras). As others have stated, I believe I have the most expensive garage door repair in my neighborhood. I KNOW I was overcharged, but I bit that bullet. I also know, after making calls, I would have paid about $250-300 less what I did pay. If not for wanting to put my car in the garage, without manually working the door, I would have waiting for additional estimates. At the agency that I work for, candor/honesty and integrity are vital attributes. I would suggest to anyone that requires this type of repair to get at least 3 estimates, especially if the price seems high, before proceeding with Pop's. I also want to mention, I made the appointment time (12:30-2) based on having to go into work and when I knew I could get away. The technician called me before 10am asking if he could be there in about 45 minutes. I told him I was at work and could not be there before the scheduled appointment window. I excitedly made a 7 am-9:30 am appointment hoping for earlier rather than later to reduce time away from work. Nati, the technician, who I spoke with the day before, stated he would call a half hour before he arrived. His first call was at 6:40 am to tell me he was here an going to the back. Great, I thought, nice and early though notice would have been appreciated as I was preparing for 7am and just out of the shower. I asked him for a few minutes. He agreed and called me four minutes later and then another three minutes later saying he didn't want to "waste his time". By this time I had thrown some clothes on and ran out where he insulted me saying I didn't have a garage door! I have a true carriage garage door which this company claims they repair and install. I asked him to look at it to see the repair and requested he and his partner's help to open it and close it back. After determining he could not drill and reattach the frame he was ready to half close it and leave. I had to insist for help to return it back. Meanwhile, he was demanding, rude, dismissive and disrespectful. If it were not for his helper who helped me close it I would have been stuck with it open. He hardly helped. I'm soo disappointed given great reviews from others. Apparently, his best is saved for Rockville or Montgomery County customers! My appointment ended ten minutes before it was supposed to start, AND after I had to convince him to look at the job! Customer Service and basic Civil Communication skills clearly does not live at Pop's Garage Doors! If he didn't want the job, he only needed to say so. Rudeness and dismissiveness and disrespectfulness are unacceptable! If you have an easy job, they probably could handle it. On Monday 3 Sep 2018 I submitted a request through the website to have someone contact me to set up an appointment to discuss a new garage door opener and assess if a new garage door was needed. Within minutes after I submitted the request someone contacted me. I had a same day consultation and had a new garage door opener installed that night. I was so very impressed with the service provided by Pop's. When the man who did the installation left he said if you need anything just let us know. The following morning we discovered the remotes for the garage door do not work properly. We tried everything to get them to work and finally decided to contact Pop's again. We have been having to control the door from the outside keypad or the inside button. I have made requests to have someone from Pop's contact me about the remote controllers. The first attempt was a phone message I left on Saturday 15 Sep 2018. The second attempt was on Monday 17 Sep 2018 through the website using the same on-line inquiry option I used on Monday 3 Sep 2018. I have heard nothing to date. I called them out to do a service and replace the rollers on my quite old garage door. The two guys were professional and kind. Right after they left, the door didn't go up, so they came right back and made it work. But what is really significant is that ten days later (I'd been away), it would not go up again. So I called and told them off and they sent someone out right away. Mea culpa. It was nothing they did - it was how my driveway plow guy had left the snow. It would have been fine if they had left right away - it wasn't their problem after all. However, the guy stayed, defrosted the snow, and got it to work again. The technician showed up and after pressing the up button one time decided that the motor was bad and it would cost me $650. When I hedged he said he could try and fix it but it would cost me $250. Update to my last post. I ended up using Pop's to install the garage door and complete the framing. They did nice job with the framing and the door installation. It took a long time and it was after 10pm when they finished. I was satisfied and in my tired state, I wrote a check for the balance. I wasn't presented with a new invoice though. I accidentally wrote the check for $300 more than it should be. I realized it at about 2am on my way to the airport to catch a flight. I figured it was late when i wrote the check so i cancelled it and.immediately called to leave a message to contact.me so that i could pay the correct amount. To my surprise I received a call from a company representative yelling at me and being very disrespectful as if I was trying to avoid payment. He even said to me "its only $300". I was furious with his tone and disrespect. Especially since he called me when I was in a crowded.room of colleagues on my business trip. I paid the amount due by credit card which is what I suggested when I called to advise of the error. So the work completed was satisfactory but the service interaction after regarding payment was horrible. I received a confirmation email that Nati Elmaliach would perform the repair. Someone named Majid Al Frookh arrived at the appointment time and quoted my father $280.00 to replace the garage door opener. I called my father shortly after the repair was completed and learned that the final bill was $3,127.00. Mr. Frookh persuaded my elderly father to pay the $3,127.00 and write the check payable to Mr Frookh personally. Mr. Frookh left my father's house and immediately went to the bank to cash the check. I contacted Nati Elmaliach to complain about the elder abuse perpetrated on my father and he claimed that Mr. Frookh did not work for him. Called Pops garage doors and Josef was very patient with understanding my problem. I sent him that pictures of the loose cable and advised to send a technician to take a closer look. Nati who's the tech he sent came out after 5 as scheduled and recommended to torsion spring upgrade. He's very knowledgeable, had all the parts available and ready to work right away. Within an hour, he was able to install the new spring, removed the old parts, adjusted my door, and even re-program my remote! On top of that, he's able to beat the competitors price.
