The food was mostly good but, some meals like the chicken ptarmigan sandwich was very dry and over salted. The service was slow (probably because they were trying to stagger the meals). Lastly, the restaurant needs place to wait in line. This place is Definitely awesome! When I first walked in, I felt very comfortable and relaxed. It's was very clean and I grabbed a menu walked up and ordered. Picked a table and received the Best presentation that had me drueling from the second I seen it coming my way. We ordered Spaghetti and The Primo Sandwich. A family member of ours is a regular there so we stopped by for a quick bite. I cannot wait to go back and try more things off the menu if I had the stomach I'd definitely 1000% eat everything off that menu. This restaurant is the best thing to happen to Canton! Absolutely delicious, everything is so fresh tasting. After our third visit we have ordered almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. If anything it has made us not want to dine at any other italian spots! Also the service is incredible, especially considering it is pay at the counter. Employees come to your table and check in, if you are lucky you will get one of the owners or one of their kids. While their pasta is made fresh daily they do sell pasta from italy and other delicious goodies along with fun merch. We have been this place for both lunch and dinner several times since they open January. I cannot say enough good things about the food, service and atmosphere. Absolutely love the bright open space of the dining area. We have had several sandwiches for lunch and all have been spot on. Last night I had the Osso Buco and it was to die for!! I first tried POPS for lunch. We were greeted promptly and they explained to us that the menus were on the front table and we were to order at the counter. I had a meatball sub and a side of the pasta chips. The flavor of the meatball sub was good; however, I was a little disappointed that the meatballs were chopped up to the point that I was basically eating ground beef in my sandwich and the ratio of bread to filling was a bit to much on the bread side. The chips were a tad disappointing because the pasta needed more seasoning; however, I enjoyed the side of jam. It had a sweet, interesting flavor that I really enjoyed. The second time I went to POPS was for dinner with my adult daughters and all of our pasta dishes were excellent. Unlike some of the reviewers, I felt the serving sizes were plentiful. Additionally, the flavors were well balanced, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The only constructive criticism we had was that we wished they offered a small side of bread and that they offered fresh brewed tea as an optional beverage. None of us drink soda and the only tea they offer is a bottled Arnold Palmer version, which is sweetened. I also wish they offered simple coffees such as latte and cappuccino. I don't see any need for them to try and compete with large coffee shops by offering a myriad of outlandish coffee drinks, but the traditional espresso, cappuccino, and latte would be the perfect ending to a meal there and very traditional to the model they are trying to follow. The restaurant is a little on the pricy side, but personally, I love the ambiance, they staff are friendly, the seating comfortable, the food is fresh and delicious and my husband and I will be back. These days it seems everywhere you go you're met with staffing shortages or disgruntled employees that act like you're an inconvenience so I was happily surprised when I was greeted by the friendly staff at POPS as soon as we walked in the door. Everyone we came into contact with was warm, friendly, and so helpful. The food was amazing but it was something about the young staff that took the time to converse with us throughout our entire visit that really made the biggest impact on me. It truly is a rare find these days. We have found a new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to come back. read more

We have eaten here a few times and it has always been great. We've only tried the sandwiches and salads, but the food and service has always been great. Our favorites are the kale/eggplant meatball salad, the primo, the b-sting, and the hey Frankie. My wife also likes the Jane Doe and the daily grind. Whichever sandwich you order, you can't go wrong. What a disappointing experience! We had heard about a new pasta place in Canton, POPS, so went in on a Sunday evening. We were greeted at the hostess desk and given a menu and directed to the counter to order. 2 Caesar salads, spaghetti and meatballs, pasta with bolognese, and 2 glasses of wine. It was a bit of a shock to pay $90 for counter service food! Our wine was delivered to our table in small disposable cups as we sat. A few minutes later our pasta and salads showed up together which was disappointing as we wanted to enjoy salads and then follow with our hot pasta dishes. Food was delivered without silverware or napkins and we were directed to a counter to pick those up. Our meals were just mediocre. It's always surprising to find an Italian restaurant open and not be able to make basic red sauce and pasta dishes taste good. This food was under seasoned and only lukewarm. Spaghetti is so thick it can not be swirled on a fork so quite challenging to eat. There is another Italian restaurant just a few doors away with table service, wine served in stemware and similar prices. That's where we will be in the future. read more

The homemade pasta was way overcooked, the sauce was just okay, and the service is what you would expect in an order at the counter type of restaurant. There really is nothing that stands out other than the great little Italian market featuring lots of pasta-making equipment, imported ingredients, etc., but most of those items are overpriced when compared to what I would pay online for the same items. They should really re-think their concept and go for a more traditional approach with better food and better service. read more

POPS has been opened for 2ish weeks and we've been twice. Yes, it's that good and know that we are originally from NY and know Italian food. The first time I had a pasta dish with homemade sausage, mushrooms in a light cream sauce and my husband had the meatball sub. Both were excellent! Today, he had chicken parm and I had the eggplant "meatballs" and pasta with vodka sauce. Seriously, it's perfection! My husband is not a fan of eggplant and he kept eating off my plate. POPS rocks! We really wanted to like this place .. my husband and I are both Italian from the Northeast and appreciate authentic Italian meals, however we were disappointed in this restaurant. The wine is served in a cheap plastic cup, the fresh made pasta is tasteless, the salad was soo spicy my lips were burning, the eggplant meatballs were horrible, the pasta chips you can break your teeth on, Order your own food at the counter then ask us to leave a tip?? what's that all about??? nothing about this place is New York Italian!! I speak from experience and culture. Growing up in a Sicilian family from NY..I have never tasted food like this !! This style of cooking might be ok for local folks in Canton, but the restaurant would never survive in NYC!! we won't return!!! and definitely won't recommend. read more

The city of Canton needed a place like this to add to our dining scene! The location is downright fantastic. Walking through the doors for the first time brought excitement about new tastes, signaling a great experience ahead, be it with friends, partners, or family. The environment was not just inviting; it was an open-concept, stress-free space that immediately transported me "into the city" without leaving Canton. The food was absolutely scrumptious! My friend and I shared and dived into a delectable chopped salad, followed by the fantastic flavors of the gnocchi with pesto, veggies, and meatballs. The service was more than friendly and efficient; we barely had time to complete our first glass of wine before our meal was served. The cost of dining was surprisingly reasonable, giving us the opportunity to order at our own pace, as well let us linger and chat. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and very comfortable; whether it be for a business meeting, or just to hang out and dine. I applaud the owners for having the courage to launch a new local business during this time, giving us an opportunity to enjoy a new dining experience, and giving it a go! First time visitor and grading on my purchases and nothing else. Ordered the Station 16, a hot sandwich with capicola, caponato and provolone. The hoggie roll was huge, more bread than anyone should eat at one sitting. The capicola was drawfed by the bread and caponato. Capicola is normally fatty but this was over the top. The caponato was interesting, tasteful and too much. The meat was luke warm at its best. Not a bad sandwich but not one I'd order again. My wife ordered the St Joseph which was a pretty much a chicken parmesan hoggie. Again, the bread was huge and really not necessary. The chicken was slightly over cooked and the sandwich was sloppy to hold. Not that one ever again. Service was excellent, staff friendly and the room itself was inviting. However, when I spend $50 I don't expect to pick-up my own place setting, napkin or carry out box. The only drinks available were out of a cooler and no fountain drinks. That's not my cup of tea either. However, POPS is inovative, trendy cute restaurant and needed in downtown Canton. I will return and try something on a plate rather than "a super bun." There were other dishes and the plates I saw were empty signaling something good happening. I think everyone should give them a try. read more
