I used to come here as a child & remember it being so much better. I Ate breakfast here a few weeks ago & I ordered a stack of pancakes, potatoes with onions & peppers, hash browns & eggs. Honestly the food was just ok, like any other typical breakfast place. I have definitely had much better pancakes & potatoes! It was mediocre food in my opinion, I most likely won't eat here again. & also the staff was not that friendly where usually you expect very friendly staff from a tiny place like this. read more

Great food. Great service. Local place with a homey feeling. We had breakfast at 8:40 am on a Sunday. No wait for a table for four, but was quite busy and several customers that arrived after use had a short wait. We ordered huevos rancheros. Perfection!! Served with rice and beans. Added the fantastic Irish potatoes on top. Delish. Denver omelette which was eggsalent!!! Biscuit smothered in gravy - homemade taste. Yum. Side of salsa that was insane. French toast - deep fried. Taste better than a doughnut! Great eggs, bacon and Irish potato dish. Everything was solid A+ food. Waitress was kind and efficient. Everything was as requested and served with a smile. They have really good pancakes and also great Machaca (You read that correctly, MACHACA!). My father tends to enjoy this spot because he can order his favorite Mexican dishes while the rest of us tend to order the usual pancakes, eggs and bacon dishes. Awesome hole in the wall place where you will find all the Downey locals. Gotta order the Belgian waffles. They've been my favorite since I was 6 years old. Protein plate is nice too. Irish potatoes are awesome. Family-run. Great service. Wish they were open more often. read more

What can I say about this place...Well it was a random choice and a great one at that. Pops cafe has the greatest tasting coffee and the staff is always super friendly and polite. The food also speaks for itself my personal favorite the huevos rancheros has become an every Sunday morning breakfast. The only downside to it is the limited parking other than that I love it. I absolutely love this place I have yet to get a meal that doesn't absolutely taste amazing. Their biscuits and gravy are the second best I've ever tasted next to mine lol. Their portions are great and the price is very reasonable. The staff is pretty good at handling the amount of people they have I. The place at any given time and I have had to wait a few times. Pops is as it's name suggests, a place like your pop might have, if he had a place. The portions are very adequate. I ate almost everything on my plate and stayed full for hours. I had the California Omelette and the amount of avocado was very generous. The atmosphere is simple, yet spacious. I didn't feel crammed in or cramped like I have in some small cafes. There is also no "greasy spoon" feel. The coffee cup was kept full, the cafe is neat and clean, and the food home style and filling. Definately a cafe worth checking out, if you haven't tried it before. In fact, I think I'll go back soon. read more

Yes, the wait time can be long at times, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But that shows you how good it is. The pancakes are as big as your face. My first time trying this place last weekend and let me say DAMN GOOD! There is nothing I can complain about other then the looooong wait time to get a table and for the food to come out but it's only because they get crazy busy. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was cooked to perfection. No clue what breading they used but it was so nice and crispy not soggy. Their country gravy is to die for! We got a order of biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were moist and fluffy not dry at all and once again they gravy... So delicious! We also got the eggs benedict and the sauce was so smooth and different tasting. Very flavorful. The eggs cooked to perfection and the ham was a thick cut and just made everything come together. The best part was our waitress. Her name was Teresa and it seemed like she has worked there for years. She made us feel like family and had some jokes for us. Please ask for Teresa when you visit. All in all everyone has different opinions of this place. I know for one I will be coming back. Just eat a piece of toast before coming here. It takes awhile but worth the wait. read more
