As a self-proclaimed bagel connoisseur, I think Pop's has one of the most classic renditions of bagels in LA. It's perfectly fluffy on the inside while retaining classic bagel chew -- which is harder to find than you'd expect in the city with its more newfangled variations of bagels! The lox is fresh and not too salty, and the pickled onions provide a very refreshing crunch. The schmear is also very generous, and I like the drizzle of olive oil in the top for a perfect finishing touch. The seating area outside is very comfortable for catching up bc much of it is in the shade in the morning. Service is fast and efficient even though it's busy. read more

Staying at the Culver Hotel, this bagel shop is right across the way where the Culver Steps are and the place was always packed so figured it would be a good spot for breakfast. Placed an order for a bacon and egg sandwich and walked next door to Philz to get some coffee. People watched while waiting for my bagel order and after about 30 minutes, I decided to ask the cashier to check on my order since it seems like people who were in line after me had already received their food. He was apologetic and told one of the employees who was handling food to check on mine. Ok great, only a few more minutes. Well after about another 10-15, and no sight of my food, my husband asked to speak to a manager and inquired what was taking so long. First, my husband is not the type to ever go ask to speak to a manager but that conversation was what got me my bagel Sammy in about 2 minutes. I have no idea what happened and why it took 45 minutes to get a simple bagel breakfast sandwich but I did not enjoy my first experience at this spot. Staff was nice and friendly but there were a few that look hurried and honestly, a little stressed. I don't blame them; it's pretty chaotic inside and didn't seem to have a lot of organization. I give a 3/5 for the bagel sandwich. It tasted a bit dry and not a ton of flavor, it could have used some butter or mayo or some aioli. I probably should have just ordered a bagel with shmear because the bagel was chewy and crispy on the outside so it has potential! Anyhoo - that is my honest review for my visit. This was on Sunday, Mother's Day and I placed my order at 9:14 am. Food was ready at 9:55. I think this establishment prioritized to-go and phone orders because I wasn't the only patron that complained about the long wait. Randomly decided to get bagels from here. The customizations are probably the best thing about this place. My fav combo so far is a Jalapeño Cheddar bagel, toasted and scooped out with scallion cream cheese, add cucumbers and sweet chili crisp. The place is pretty busy on weekends, and there's some seating outside in the plaza. They are a bit slow on putting orders together which is the reason for the 3 stars. Do not get their egg sausage sandwich!!!! First time trying Pops Bagels, decided on their egg sausage sandwich. Although they were generous with their two sausage patties and egg, it was a SLOPPY MESS. i couldn't eat the sandwich without all the oil from the sausage, the cheese melt falling off!!! Talk about not office friendly! I had to disassemble the whole sandwich just to make it eatable. I couldn't tell the difference between the oil and the cheese goo! I wasn't able to get a good read on the bagel itself as it was already soaking with all the oils. Absolutely worse first impression. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning to kick off an afternoon hang in Culver City and was honestly a bit underwhelmed. We ordered the onion bagel w/ scallion cream cheese and an everything bagel w/ lemon and herb schmear. The bagel themselves were nothing special. Honestly, they reminded me of store bought ones I buy at the grocery store. Service felt extremely slow here, and my bagel came out a sloppy mess with cream cheese smeared all over the bagel. I had to send it back which I don't enjoy having to do. They replaced it without any issue, but it kind of killed the momentum when you're already hungry and excited. Flavor wise, the bagels + schmear was okay, not bad, not great. Definitely doesn't make me want to rush back anytime soon. Cute aesthetic! Service was fine and workers were sweet but a bit slowish if you're in a rush (luckily, I was not). There are really only ~2 /3 employees so that makes sense. I ordered a toasted "Everything" bagel with cream cheese ($5.51) and it took a bit longer than expected, but likely due to morning orders that were more complicated. I generally prefer more garlic in everything bagels, but didn't really notice much on these... Just a personal preference as compared to Noah's across the way. Maybe for a simple bagel, I'd go elsewhere. I'm sure their bagel sandwiches are great, but for their Everything bagels, I personally would pass next time (I'm sure their other flavors are great though). read more

I had no idea that Pop's breakfast burritos are as great as their bagels - til this morning! It's not huge, it is a perfect size. The super fresh tortilla was grilled, & stuffed with perfectly cooked yellow egg, crispy bacon, avocado spread that tasted like it had onion or chives in it, cheddar cheese and enough hot mayo to make it flavorful. I was surprised at how DELICIOUS it is. Like I'd go back for just this, one of the best breakfast burritos I've had. I always love their blueberry bagels with cream cheese and their toasted cinnamon raisin bagels with salted butter. Now they've got another fave! I see they also have a pressed reuben & a pressed cuban (on bagels) on the menu. I'll definitely try those too. Everyone was super warm & friendly here this morning. They just opened their new Santa Monica location to replace their Brentwood store. I went for the first time today in Santa Monica. They took over the old B&T Deli space and left all the beautiful restoration and love that was put into the space a few years ago. I ordered the Egg & Cheese burrito which was simple yet delicious. Wow! I was blown away by these bagels. I got a jalapeño cheddar bagel with eggs, bacon and cheese. The bagel was soft on the inside and nice and hard on the outside. The eggs were soft, decadent and fresh with bacon that was well crisped and not burned and then, of course, yummy cheddar cheese. If I recall correctly, it was around $15, which is probably market. I keep trying to give this place another chance because the west side is SO cursed in the bagel department, but it continues to disappoint. It's clear their growth has brought additional product quality shortcuts. Now, it's essentially a Noah's Bagels product with Courage Bagel prices. The bagel sandwich is $16.50 (comes out to $18 before tip) and they skimp on EVERYTHING. They give you two VERY small, VERY thin pieces of lox per side. There's never enough onion or caper. It's severely under-seasoned. And perhaps worst of all, they refrigerate their tomatoes, resulting in a cold, mealy, flavorless bite. Any restaurant or chef worth their salt knows that you don't refrigerate tomatoes. It drains their flavor and destroys their texture. Also, the single slice of tomato given was so laughably small that I actually went back and asked for an additional slice (they were happy to oblige, so at least there's that). Aside from the addition of a small sprig of fresh dill, there is nothing that differentiates this from a lox sandwich at Noah's bagels (and that costs $10.69 AND comes with a complimentary bag of chips). That's CRAZY. Does anyone know of an amazing lox bagel on the west side?! Why does east side get to have all the fun? read more

Pop's Bagels was there for me when no one else was. Last night I got home incredibly late (I was out working on my international relations), and there was absolutely no parking aside from one single spot that had street sweeping scheduled for this morning. So after getting home late and barely sleeping, I had to get my ass up bright and early to move my car. None of the other parking had opened up, so I literally had no choice but to go park at the shopping plaza (which is free for the first hour) to waste time. At this point, my morning routine had been completely tossed to the wind. I'm hungry, I'm tired, and I'm really irritated. The situation was fucked. And then... something beautiful happened. Something called Pop's Bagels. A spark ignited in my soul when I saw that they had vegan cream cheese, and I had to go in. The people were kind, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was prompt. I haven't ordered a cream cheese bagel in the real world in over 5 years, and it was just what I needed. The everything bagel was packed with flavor, crisp but chewy, and I had no qualms about the vegan cream cheese. Very happy to find a LA bagel shop not claiming to be "New York style". I'm sick and tired of those. Family and I came in this morning for our first time. Surprisingly because we live a few minutes away and come to the CCS here and there. Friendly customer service. Ordered five sandwiches. All very good. They pack them which I love but it was hard to really taste any flavor of the bagel itself or the inside. We'll definitely be back. They are for sure an LA shops with their prices so won't come as often but nonetheless we'll be back. I do recommend for a good breakfast sandwich. Pop's Bagels saved my dog's life. Seriously. I'm self-aware enough to appreciate that as far as Yelp reviews go, this probably falls into the TMI category, but I'd be remiss if I didn't sing their praises. Long story short, my 14-year-old dog was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer almost a year ago, at which time I was told he likely had 4-6 weeks left to live. He outlived his prognosis, but late last year his health took a precipitous decline, his suffering was unbearable, and I made the heartbreaking decision of scheduling an appointment for euthanasia. On what was to be his final day on earth, however, I decided that I didn't want his last memories to be singularly defined by suffering. And so, cradling him in my arms (he was too weak to walk), I carried him to Pop's Bagels in Culver City and ordered him a plain toasted bagel. I hadn't fed him 'human food' for over a year, as he suffered from gastrointestinal issues and was on a strict prescription diet, but given the situation at hand I figured a little indulgence couldn't hurt. The moment the bagel arrived at our table, it was like someone flicked on a light switch. He grabbed the bagel, leapt from my lap, and devoured it with an energy and enthusiasm I hadn't seen for months. Later, at our scheduled appointment, I told the vet about the miraculous events I'd witnessed at Pop's. She, in turn, ran some tests, prescribed him a new medication, then told us to go home expecting the worst but hoping for the best, after which we could reevaluate in a few days. At the time of this writing, nearly four months have passed. Be it out of superstition, a desire to indulge him, or some combination thereof, I've been buying Pop's bagels in bulk and feeding him half a toasted bagel (in addition to his prescription food) every day since. He still has cancer, but he's back to a healthy weight for the first time in months, his bowel movements are the best they've been in over a year, and most importantly, he's happier and more energetic than I'd imagined possible. I know this probably sounds unhinged, and I'm not claiming that Pop's Bagels are medicinal, nor am I recommending this approach for any other pet parents. Every extra day with him has been a gift though, and to the staff at Pop's, I am forever in your debt. Thank you. read more

Pops bagel was very average it's located in the Culver's steps complex. The area where it's located is super nice it's super lively on the weekend. Service was nice and efficient. I think you can even order ahead if need be. Regarding the value, the regular bagel with schmear is very cost competitive. I went here soon a super busy day, when there was a massive classic car show and hoards of people on the streets, they were prepared. No lines at lunch time and fresh bagels. For some reason the Blueberry Bagel called my name that day, with a smear of cream cheese. It had a subtle scent of blueberry not strong and artificial flavored. I'd order it again! My BF had a toasted everything bagel with a cream cheese and the toppings were fresh and not stale. The bagel was not sweet, very fresh and totally satisfying. Bagels had heft, density and chewiness that I prefer, not quite an old school NYC bagel, admittedly, not quite that chewy. Still a good spot and I'd happily return. read more

Ordered for pick up using the inKind App. My order was approximated to be ready within 13 mins. Upon arrival my order was ready. It's a tiny little shop with little no space to be seated however, there is plenty of outdoor seating. This specific location can be found at The Culver Steps. I would suggest coming on a Sunday morning with yourself or a friend and people watch while you enjoy your bagel. Parking is pretty eh in this area. There is a structure where after an hour your charged $1 for every 30mins after. There is some metered parking so if you come on a Sunday as suggested you shouldn't have to pay for parking. My kid enjoyed his bagel breakfast. He really enjoyed the chocolate chips and i appreciate that the bagel was gluten free and freshly made. My son didn't really enjoy the egg he stated that he felt like it needed more seasoning. For an amount of about $7 you're given a pretty generous and fair portion. Two of my friends have been going crazy over matcha drinks I hadn't yet had one so my curiosity decided to try one. It takes like greenery as I suspected don't understand the hype about Matcha but I'm not counting that against Pop's Bagels. We will likely come again for just the bagels and vibes.
