I had an early morning start and wanted to treat myself to a bagel. It had been awhile, and Daniel's was on my list to try. Everything was...ok. The bagel selections are limited. The cream cheese selections are limited. No toppings. Where are the bialy's I've seen mentioned? I had a plain bagel, toasted, with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was soft and chewy on the inside, good structure on the outside. But small in my opinion. You know how you can already tell an item is small through the bag? The cream cheese was basic scallion, but very runny. I've had toasted bagels before that did not make the cream cheese drip off. I'm unfortunately just not impressed with the size of the bagel for $7. When did a bagel and cream cheese become $7?! Why is a $9 bagel with cream cheese a thing?! Two words - Rosemary bagels. They're amazing. Never had one? Me neither but I am so getting more. High quality, very chewy bagels at good prices for LA. $3.50 each or 3 for $8. Daniel's may not have the most varieties but the service is excellent, the decor charming and warm. Special thanks to the very patient, understanding employee who helped me with my first-timer questions and with paying digitally as I forgot my wallet. Their limited edition flavor is currently blueberry. I'm also curious to try their chili crisp, a customer favorite. The bagels here are amazing. I loved the consistency of the dough, and the bagel was crispy on the outside and chewy and soft on the inside. I got an everything bagel and I was honestly pretty scared, because I've had everything bagels that were too salty in the past, but it was perfect here. The interior is very well designed, modern and clean with cute little accents everywhere. Sadly, I wasn't a fan of the cream cheese here. Got the scallion cream cheese, and it was honestly a bit watery. I would like it to be more creamy and fluffy. Had a friend not suggested meeting here for a late-morning snack, I'm not sure I would've even known about this place--and that would've been a shame. We met around noon on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, likely because they close at 1pm. Thankfully, they still had what we wanted (my friend snagged the last Everything bagel, much to the next person's disappointment). The staff was really helpful and patient as we made our selections. At the server's suggestion, I went with the rosemary bagel with chili crisp cream cheese, while my friend chose the Everything bagel with the same spread, along with a couple of coffees. You can tell these bagels are made in-house. They were fresh, fragrant, doughy, and chewy--everything you want in a bagel. Even after toasting, mine maintained that perfect balance of crisp and chew, perhaps helped by the generous mound of cream cheese (no complaints here). I didn't get much heat from the chili in the chili crisp cream cheese, but it was still tasty and added a fun, savory element. There are a few high-top tables inside and a small table out front. My girlfriend was telling me about this place as she use to get them at the farmers market. We finally went and I can say I'm a HUGE fan. They have a variety of bagel and cream cheese options. Their specialty bagel at the time was a cheese jalapeño and bagel but they were sold out already when I got there. I got the rosemary bagel with the works cream cheese. The works cream cheese was DELICIOUS. It was perfectly balanced with all the flavors of lox, scallions, chives, and more (I think). Really cute spot for bagels in West side village /Palms area. I came here on a whim after the bagel spot we normally go to was out of the way from where we were going, and it didn't disappoint. Bagels have a good texture and bite, and you can customize the level of toasted which adds a dimension to your bite (I know this isn't exclusive to this bagel shop ). I got the everything bagel with the scallion spread lightly toasted and it was nice. The spread had the right amount of flavor and complemented the bagel nicely. I selfishly did not want this place to be good because there are so many good, expensive bagel places in LA already, but this place is SO! GOOD! My bagel was so fresh and warm. The bagels are so perfectly chewy without being a jaw workout and is a classic New York style. I've never had a rosemary bagel before but it adds such a comforting touch to the warm bagel, which is also slathered with a generous amount of cream cheese. Yummy bagels! Got there early on a weekend and was the first to arrive; by the time we paid, the line started forming really quickly. Service was nice and efficient, and we got a sizable spread of bagels: rosemary, onion chocolate chip, Everything, and plain. The rosemary was incredible: salty and herbaceous, and I can see why Daniel's limits two per customer-- I would happily get more, if I could! Never noticed Daniel's driving by before. Saw it on Yelp. Reviews looked good so I had to check it out. Arrived early on Sunday morning before the line began, easily securing a parking spot on the premises. Sat in my car listening to music. Ten minutes before opening more people started showing up. Two minutes before 8:00 I was one of nine people in line. The door was opened exactly on time. Nice clean interior. The aroma of fresh bagels is intoxicating. Simple menu, not too many choices. Chose two cinnamon raisin, one everything and one rosemary. Drove home to my own cream cheese. Nirvana. Excellent taste and texture. The chewyness is almost like Japanese mochi. In the future, I will never get less than two of the rosemary again. Nice people working there. Flawless experience. Oh, one other thing. Another reviewer mentioned about the price. And don't get me wrong, price is definitely a consideration. I paid $12 for four bagels. I know you can get bagels cheaper than that. But these were really good bagels. I did not buy the cream cheese at Daniel's because I knew I had some at home (I had just made some amazing mashed potatoes). But my point is that the bagels aren't over priced for what you're getting. Skimp on the schmear if you must. Not on the bagels. They are totally worth it. read more

Daniel's Bagels is a cute neighborhood bagel spot located in a tiny plaza in Palms. They also host a 3rd party pop up coffee/matcha business called Cute Mensch Coffee that was here when I came on a Sunday mid-morning. Parking in the plaza is very limited but as it's next to a small side street, you can also find free street parking there. My friend who took me here has mentioned they are famous for their rosemary bagels, but by approximately 10:15 AM on a Sunday, they were already sold out so do come early if that's what you're interested in. Everything bagel w/ lox spread 4/5, this was a soft, fresh, and doughy bagel. The lox spread was plentiful though I would have preferred more lox pieces inside and if the everything topping (seasoning?) adhered better to the bagel top as much of it would come sliding off once a bite was taken A Matcha Made in Heaven 5/5, one of the strongest matchas I've ever tried, though I didn't taste pistachio this wasn't any issue for me, I also loved the strawberry crème top and dried strawberries this came with. Though this is only available through Cute Mensch Coffee, I definitely hope to see them again here. UPDATE: Came back on a Friday mid-morning (approx 11 am) and rosemary bagels were in stock! I got 3 bagels for $8 (2 rosemary + 1 everything). I do think this is a bit pricy for 3 bagels but you're paying for freshly made bakery bagels at a shop so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rosemary bagel 5/5, ok totally understand why this is popular here. My husband and I can't believe we waited so long to try Daniel's Bagels, which is just down the road from us. If you're wondering if it's worth a try, don't think twice! My husband is from NJ and his grandfather owned a legendary bakery in Rockaway. My husband had like a euphoric experience having one of Daniel's fresh, out of the oven bagels during our first visit. He said it brought him back to his childhood. The staff is very nice and the shop is very bright and clean. My one qualm is there didn't appear to be any bathrooms. Seriously, I wasn't a huge bagel guy before coming to Daniel's but this place has converted me. I'm there every few weeks now and I used to only eat bagels maybe a handful of times a year? What they do well is making the classic bagels to perfection. They hand craft every single bagel, use quality ingredients, focus on the flavors you know and love, and serve them hot and fresh out the kitchen. I usually go for a three-pack with Plain, Rosemary, and either Cinnamon Raisin or Chocolate Chip Bagels (or Blueberry if they have them!). Their Rosemary Bagel is hands down the best savory bagel I've ever had, with such a strong rosemary flavor and flaky sea salt on top. My mouth is watering writing this!
