Nova Lox

Talk about ba-GOALS! As someone who's part of the LA breakfast bagel fanatic club, I'll have to be adding @popsbagelsla to my list of all-time favorites! This local bagel shop specializes in fresh, housemade bagels that feature a soft, fluffy inside with a perfectly crispy exterior and just the right amount of chewiness. I love how these bagels can enjoyed by themselves, with their signature cream cheese, or as an egg sandwich, pressed sandwich, or classic breakfast item. Both their savory and sweet options were absolutely standout, and I can't wait to be back again to try more off their menu! My only gripe (at least with the Brentwood location) is that parking can be difficult (street parking or valet), although that's a general Brentwood issue and not specific to this shop; and that orders (even for pre-ordered pickup/delivery) aren't fulfilled in a timely manner. I pre-ordered the day before and still waited 30 minutes past my pickup time, and there were other customers who had waited an hour for theirs. I do understand that this location is insanely busy, but perhaps a more organized ordering system + more staffing can improve order fulfillment and relieve stress from their employees. Featured here: Nova Lox the L.E.O. blueberry bagel with strawberry C.C.

Plain bagel with plain cream cheese and lox

Delicious bagels, easy "in and out" casual atmosphere, quick service and pretty accessible location. Definitely worth checking out and grabbing a bagel during the weekend... or week day! We will be back! Thank you.

the amount of cream cheese i took out of my "extra light cream cheese" bagel
Lucy L.

Bagels had great texture but for some reason, it was so greasy? I ordered a lox sandwich and asked for extra light cream cheese and there was an absurd amount of cream cheese, like they put extra cream cheese. The only thing that was "extra light" was the amount of lox and other toppings.

Everything bagel and cream cheese with the strawberry lemon lemonade

The everything bagel with plain cream cheese hit the spot. The only thing was the bagel had just a little too much salt for me, but I would order it again. The store was closing, and the staff was trying to get out of there but the young lady who was helping me answered all of my questions and was pleasant. It's a cute little bagel shop with outdoor sidewalk seating in front of the store and on the side. Also, the strawberry lemonade was soooo good and it had some sliced strawberries in it, which was an added bonus!!!

I love Pops These guys are great, very friendly and full of energy! Today I got a delicious chili crisp turkey sandwich on a scooped sesame bagel! I will come back tomorrow for the sweet and spicy cucumber sandwich!

A bagel stop before the LA marathon. Super quick service and line out the door! Every bagel looked scrumptious - went with a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was a perfect ratio of schmear to bread. Bagel is chewy, not too dense, and loaded with sesame seeds. Delicious and divine!

UPDATE the general manager messaged me first thing on Sunday morning which I consider to be extraordinary customer service. He was completely professional and really wanted to get to the bottom of what happened. Suffice to say that he appreciated the feedback and I do believe they will handle things different going forward. Review was one star which I will now change but I will leave the initial review below. Just in case anybody else experiences this. (Original review below) Kevin. I don't actually have to be present to pick up my too good to go order. That's why the app has this. You were insulting today and rude. Are you aware that this money goes to charity? And that it helps you guys avoid food wastage? Shame on you. Oh, the app does not allow screenshots with the confirmation code on it. I actually had to have some stranger take a picture for me so I could send it to my friend waiting while you were busy insulting her at your store.

Cinnamon raisin bagel

This is a pretty good bagel stop but I just have to say right off the bat the drinks are not worth your time -- way overpriced and not as good as so many other places within just a couple feet of this place. I had a cinnamon raisin bagel with plain cream cheese and the bagel had an appropriate amount of cream cheese. It came out quickly and there were some places to sit outside. Overall, not the best bagel I've had but pretty solid. Drinks are average but also average $8 so I'd recommend a skip.

Delicious bagels

Overall, decent bagels, but honestly not outstanding. This bagel shop is located in a charming, neighborhood village-like area of Brentwood that is a vibe itself. Parking was difficult to find and many of the lots are valet-only :::cringe:::, so had to park several blocks away Solid variety of classic flavors (plain, sesame, etc) and some unique. Bagels themselves tasted meh; also, they were shaped more like oversized rolls than bagels, if that makes sense. Staff were welcoming, super friendly and helpful. Overall, a 6/10 experience.

Egg and cheese? Not sure what type of cheese this is

Bagels w cream cheese good but no Vegetable Cream Cheese at a bagel shop, very odd. Egg and cheese looks off also. Not real cheese but cheesy wiz or something for like $15.

Everything bagel, scallion cream cheese and lox!

Pretty presentation and delicious. Enjoyed the everything bagel, scallion cream cheese and lox. Super yummy. A little bit of a wait but worth it.

In the depth of this bag lies greatness in the form of a bacon, avocado, cream cheese (sesame) bagel.

I had heard about Pop's a while back, and even saw photos of items I'd like to try, but timing never worked out until recently. Going on a Saturday around 12:30, I figured I'd be okay but there was still a decent amount of people around, and sadly not a lot of stock. I did remember seeing some pictures of a bagel with cream cheese, avocado and a topping of glorious, crispy bacon. Since they were out of plain, I did this with a sesame seed bagel and this was amazing. I also gave in and bought a sesame with butter since that is my default. My only downfall is I couldn't enjoy this until an hour or so later after purchasing, but it was STILL delicious. Service was fine, and this took about five minutes for the bacon option. Although I want to kick myself for paying $12 for essentially 'a bagel with topping', it was so much more than that. I cannot wait to be back!

Pop's Bagels -- Keeping it short and sweet: this place is phenomenal. The food is amazing low key pricey, but honestly worth it. The staff is always friendly, and the Brentwood location is great. They also have a cute little outdoor patio, though every time I've been in the mornings it's been too cold to sit outside. Hopefully one of these summer days I'll finally get to enjoy breakfast out there. :)

Its a pretty casual spot where you order at a counter or kiosk and then pick up your food when its ready. As I no longer live in LA, I, of course, had to order like 4 bagels to try. We got the signature calic, elote calic, potato bacon calic, and the bacon scallion. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach and ultimately, I just wanted a taste of them all. Sadly, I found the bagels to be a bit lackluster for the price. The garlic flavor is prominent but, as with a lot of Korean foods, there was just too much sweet for my personal tastes. I should also just recognize that bagels aren't really my thing and despite it being appealing to look at, they didn't really hit home for me. They're quite pricey at close to $10 a bagel and while filling, don't seem to have much substance (its essentially a bagel and flavored cream cheese). Am I glad I came, sure, I got to try something new and didn't have to wait in ridiculously long lines but would I return? Unlikely but again, if you're into this kind of thing, its good.

1. Another perfect Los Angeles day. Woke up and the weather outside was yanking me out of bed…read more Before I could even put my clothes on, I could feel Jess & Kora on the other side. Waiting for me. Waiting for us to get lunch at Belle's. Life was good. But what's even better than good? Great. Life was about to be great. 2. On the way in I saw a strange man outside wearing sunglasses. He looked at me. Friend or foe? I ran through a list of my options. Run. Stand my ground. Kiss. But then I realized I recognized him. This wasn't a stranger. This was a friend. 3. "Hey," I said. "Hey," he said back at me. Casey. We knew each other. I mentioned I was about to dine at Belle's and he immediately complimented the establishment. "Do you know who Harry Mack is?" I told him I didn't. "He's a freestyle rapper on tiktok. I saw him eating here once. I told him I like his videos when we were both in the bathroom." In the bathroom? Or in the line for the bathroom? I didn't follow up with any questions and left the conversation bewildered. 4. I sat down inside, waiting for Jess & Kora. We had eaten here together many times and this excited me. Nothing quite like eating lunch with your friends. The only thing better would be if you were getting massages from beautiful men and women. The thought brought a smile to my face. The kind of smile that hurts your cheeks so much that you wish pain was only temporary. 5. Jess showed up. Shortly after Kora did as well. The boys were back at it again. I looked around. I could tell everybody was aware of who we were and what we were doing. I even caught a stray look from a table of three men that was tinged with a tear. Jealous of the friendship we so effortlessly commanded. It was as if we were massaging each other's minds with our words. This is the kind of experience one can expect while in the presence of Zed C. from Yelp. The kind of experience you read online and think is fake but is actually realer than reality. The kind of experience that can only be contained with two slices of bagel. 6. From the jump, we were talking Area 51. The laughs were as plentiful as the refills on our cups of coffee (frequent!) But the happiness could only take us so far. It was only a matter of time until we began looking at the walls and the photos that covered them. Photos of people, of bagels, of everything that wasn't... us. There wasn't a photo on the wall of us. Zed C. from Yelp and Jess & Kora. I don't believe in divine justice, but we do what we can to form some level of fairness in a galaxy bent on chaos. Entropy consumes us all but... if Belle's could put a photograph of the three of us on their wall... maybe hope isn't just a false promise of what's to come. Maybe life could exceed great and become... excellent. The same tear I saw in the stranger's eye populated Jess' eye. Kora's eye. & mine as well. We shut our eyes and pretended that this moment never happened. The boys were back at it once again! 7. Our food arrived. I had ordered the ECA, the egg, cheese and avocado mash bagel. Everything. At home I only get plain because the seeds go everywhere making my kitchen into a literal hellscape. Here at Belle's? I indulge myself. So what if a seed doesn't land on the plate. They'll clean it up. They always do. It's why we keep coming back. That and the quality of the food. The ECA is encased in a god-tier bagel with the type of eggs that are so fluffy you could've sworn you bit into a cloud. Every bite is a reminder of the strength of modern civilization and the many sacrifices we make to be a part of something bigger (and tastier) than our own selves. 8. Eventually the conversation spilled over the edge and one of us waved a server down. One that we were friendly with. "How can we get our photo on the wall?" She wasn't receptive. But she offered a possibility... "We could put a mirror on the wall and you'd see yourself on the wall." Jess laughed loudly and as she left he told us, "She thinks we're stupid." & you know what? If she did we'd be okay with it. Because that's the type of guys we are. We roll with the punches and get down with the lunches. 9. I'd like to quickly respond to the review written by "S A." in which they said "This place is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY" because they were forced to wait in line like everybody else. Because of their "hungry kids" they wanted everybody else to get behind them. Sounds like your "family" isn't RESTAURANT FRIENDLY. Maybe it's about time you got in line and learned to respect the rules of the culinary tradition known as "waiting until it's your turn". 10. I left Belle's feeling better than I did when I walked in. I was refreshed, I was quenched. I patted my belly and let out a sigh. Life was great. It was all downhill from here. Then I turned around and looked at Belle's. A reminder of what was to come. The boys would be back at it once again. I smiled a final time. This time it was permanent. I've never stopped smiling since.

Unfortunately, what…read morereally holds it back is the price point and the overwhelming hype--both from long lines and TikTok buzz--that doesn't quite match the experience. The scale tips more toward the downside when it comes to the bagels themselves. The toppings aren't particularly unique, or consistent, and the bagel had a noticeably firm texture that didn't stand out in a good way. What initially drew me in--and ultimately prompted this review, my first review--was the coffee. After trying 50+ coffee shops over the past 2 years alone, I can honestly say this was one of the more disappointing lattes I've had. I ordered a whole milk latte, and the best way to describe it is simply: watery. It wasn't milk-forward, not sweet, and surprisingly not even very coffee-forward. Instead, it had a slightly herbal, almost oily, burnt-bean flavor that felt diluted with water. I also ordered the carrot cake latte, which had the same base issue. The carrot cake foam helped mask it a bit, but it tasted more like a strong sugar cookie flavor than anything close to carrot cake. In the end, giving grace, perhaps it was just a "bad barista day". Overall, it's not terrible--but definitely not worth the hype or the price. *If visiting on the weekend arrive before 9:30 to beat the line if you dare.*
