These are not good bagels. I'd rather buy them from a supermarket. Just really dense and chewy. I bought 3 to take home and threw out 2.

These bagels are a must. Ordered a dozen with 2 large cream cheeses and everything was perfectly fluffy, generously sized, and delicious!

As someone who is…read moreindecisive between choosing something savory or sweet this order option allows me the freedom to order both without committing to two full orders that would later need to be taken home. Here's what we tried...(all sandwiches come with your choice of bagel) 1. The Pre-Jam: plain bagel with cream cheese, fresh fruit (fresh fresh strawberries and nectarines), and drizzled with honey. Yummmm. Highly recommend for your sweets. 2. The Scarlett: everything bagel with a soft layer of cream cheese, beautiful emerald green heirloom tomato slices (crunchy and fresh), garnished with red chili flakes, and lemon zest (gives a slight hint of lime). Phenomenal...OMG. Coming back for this again soon. 3. Sammie's Egg Sammy: everything bagel with layer of chermoula, arugula, cheddar, and a thick layer of warm scrambled eggs. Fantastic. A must order! 4. Yuzu Espresso Tonic: espresso with yuzu tonic to add a citrusy and sweetness to the drink. Not bad. Never had anything like it. 5. Strawberry matcha with almond milk: classic matcha latte with strawberry flavoring. Wish they would have used fresh strawberries. Not my fav but the bagels/sandwiches made me a big fan. Glad they're close Love this place . Will be my regular place moving forward.

To be fair, the staff was incredibly friendly -- but I'm not really in the market for new best friends. I came for a bagel that wouldn't clog my arteries or require jaw surgery to eat. Overrated, overpriced, and over-oiled. I won't be coming back.

A gluten free Mecca for any family affected by celiac disease…read more I know it's now become a trend to eat GF, and see so many people adhering to it sporadically, but to those with severe diagnosed gluten allergies or autoimmune disorders, this place is a life saver. So many options, delicious baked goods, no fear of X-contamination, and reasonable prices (unlike Breadblok that sold an inedible GF croissant for $6 three years ago). I am very glad this place exists and wish they had one in Studio City / Sherman Oaks, but in the meantime the drive to Beverly Hills is well worth it.

They have comfy indoor and outdoor seating. Very easy to pick up to-go. They have brunch all day. Special menus for the month. Coffee and specialty coffee drinks. They are 100% gluten free and certified kosher. I revisited Modern Bread and Bagel twice more since my last review (which was delivery). Service in house was great both times. But the quality of the food was vastly different. On one visit we ordered the raspberry matcha loaf, orange loaf, and chocolate zucchini loaf. The raspberry matcha was my favorite of the three. We also got the potato leak quiche which was yummy. I ordered the Farmer's Market bagel but when I got home I noticed they gave me Spicy Feta bagel instead. Tried calling to let them know but they didn't pick up. It turned out to be a happy accident. We wanted to go back and get it again. We liked it so much. I also got the zaatar tuna which was tasty but it was a bit too crunchy for me with lots of celery. Some people may like it that way but I like it more smooth. My next visit however, was not a success. It was, again, a to-go order. Sadly, none of the food tasted fresh. I ordered pastries and the Spicy Feta again. The bagel on the Spicy Feta was hard as a rock. We were unable to cut it with a knife. Such a shame. A sharp difference from the time before. At a bagel shop I expect consistency in the quality of bagels. The pastries, although beautiful to look at, didn't seem like they were made that day. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times to let them know about the bagel and pastries but no one ever answered. I was disappointed that I couldn't reach out to a team member to solve the issue. They really need to get someone to answer the phone. I really wanted to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars because it has so much to offer and the concept is wonderful. However, the quality of the food was inconsistent and there was no way to reach out to them to solve the issue. It's a gamble on what kind of meal you will get and it shouldn't be that way. I really hope this problem gets fixed because this place has so much potential and I really did enjoy the food the first two times.

In comparison to other bagel shops in LA, this spot falls right in the middle. Unfortunately, what…read morereally holds it back is the price point and the overwhelming hype--both from long lines and TikTok buzz--that doesn't quite match the experience. The scale tips more toward the downside when it comes to the bagels themselves. The toppings aren't particularly unique, or consistent, and the bagel had a noticeably firm texture that didn't stand out in a good way. What initially drew me in--and ultimately prompted this review, my first review--was the coffee. After trying 50+ coffee shops over the past 2 years alone, I can honestly say this was one of the more disappointing lattes I've had. I ordered a whole milk latte, and the best way to describe it is simply: watery. It wasn't milk-forward, not sweet, and surprisingly not even very coffee-forward. Instead, it had a slightly herbal, almost oily, burnt-bean flavor that felt diluted with water. I also ordered the carrot cake latte, which had the same base issue. The carrot cake foam helped mask it a bit, but it tasted more like a strong sugar cookie flavor than anything close to carrot cake. In the end, giving grace, perhaps it was just a "bad barista day". Overall, it's not terrible--but definitely not worth the hype or the price. *If visiting on the weekend arrive before 9:30 to beat the line if you dare.*

It was a little hardened too instead of bouncy/doughy -- my preference. The bagel had a few half-cut jalapenos, but it was imbedded a little too deep in the surface, when the bagel shouldn't be afraid to unleash those beauties and let it dazzle for all of us to see! The thing carrying the bagel was the absolutely delicious spread. Instead of a white creamery spread, it was It was creamy and cheddary in color too ! The spicy kick made the schmear finger licking good. Honestly, I'd rather come back here and purchase solely the schmear. It was excellent. Oh, it presents as a textbook Jewish deli of old, with traditional brown booths and paneled dividers, dark Formica tables, and a menu featuring the greatest hits of deli dining. But the food here is overpriced and underwhelming, like so many of the other delis around town these days. The staff is nice, for sure. They welcome you with smiles, seat you quickly, and immediately offer you drinks. Everything is clean and well-preserved, so you feel like you're in for a great meal. I ordered my usual: Pastrami on Rye, Russian Dressing on the side, with Potato Salad. To drink: Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, the very best soda for cutting through the richness of deli meat. The sandwich came promptly, and looked quite nice. The portion was appropriate for a normal sandwich (as opposed to being ridiculously stuffed), and the pastrami was nicely marbled. But looks can be deceiving. The bread was a bit too dense -- possibly made that way, or possibly a touch stale. Either way, after 2 bites I abandoned the bread and just ate the meat. The pastrami, while juicy with a soft texture, lacked flavor. I believe they bring their meat in from a purveyor, and the lack of inspiration is evident. Potato salad was also generously portioned, but had far too much mustard, and the result is a side dish that feels more Southern Picnic than Lower East Side. Again, this is a Deli serving a so-so sandwich at a price nearly the same as Katz's in NYC, and it's a shame. It's just not worth it. I've come to find that the best pastrami in Los Angeles is being served at places Johnny's in West Adams or on special at BBQ places, and usually at 2/3's the price. When it comes to Nate & Al's, I wouldn't say never go, but I wouldn't expect much bang for your buck -- or in the case of the pastrami sandwich, your 27-bucks.
