I never knew this place existed until today. It is tucked away on Ivanhoe, which is now closed with tables in the street which would be nice if it was warm out. But not today. It is a popular place and I can see why. Everything is so fresh and the cinnamon roll was like a pillow of yummy dough with cinnamon and cream cheese frosting. It was so light and satisfying. Unlike some cinnamon rolls that way you down. The coffee was hot and flavorful and there's even an option for oat milk out with the half-and-half for your creamer. Staff is so welcoming and all of the other items look fantastic. I can't wait to go back!

Poppy Bakery is such a great spot for a morning treat. We picked up a bunch of yummy goodies, and the cinnamon roll was absolutely amazing. They do have a few tables to sit and enjoy your treats, but space is limited, so grab a seat when you can. A perfect way to start the day.

I became a fan of Poppy Bakery at the Brookfield Farmer's Market, and now I try to make the trek to the east side bakery whenever I can to score some goodies! The service is always excellent, and if you can grab a table it's so nice to sit by the window, enjoy a Valentine coffee drink, and dig in to what whatever goodness you ordered. When the weather is nice you can sit outside at the picnic tables in the plaza. My favorites are the bacon brioche buns, the brownie, the cinnamon rolls, the coffee cake and.... Let's be honest - I love literally everything on the menu! Don't miss out on Poppy Bakery.

First time here. Have been wanting to come since they opened and were reviewed in the paper. Came on a Sunday morning before noon, and there was a line pretty much out the door. It didn't take very long to get to the counter. As you wait, you get to check out all the amazing looking pastries and bakery items that they offer that day. There are a few small tables inside, or you can sit outside at some picnic tables that are in the closed off section of the street. Got a friendly greeting from the cashier and help with the order. We ended up with a couple of items to eat right away: Ginger Apple Scone and Cardamom Knot. We also got a Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie to take home. We would have liked to get a couple of hot teas, but all they offer is coffee. They have water available, so we had that instead. After a couple of quick minutes, our box with our order was ready. We sat at a table by the window. It's close quarters, so it's very likely that you'll be hearing (and possibly joining) other conversations. The Ginger Apple Scone was amazing. It has a thin sugar glaze, bits of ginger and apple, and a nice texture. The Cardamom Knot was a disappointment. It's made with brioche and was just not very substantial in taste or texture. Glad I tried it but would choose something else next time. Definitely a place that I would stop in again. Hot water with tea bags would be much appreciated.

Super fluffy big cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. But what made it big and fluffy was what left it just short of 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed this pastry treat. It just had a more cake like fluffy texture than some other cinnamon rolls, making it almost cake/breadlike. Great frosting! Cute shop and the croissants looked amazing- want to try next time!

The baked goods at this bakery are so good, I kind of don't even know why I bake myself. I had a perfect chocolate chip cookie, a perfect chocolate brownie with sea salt and that's really all you need in life. But on top of that, I got the bacon, parm, and goat cheese brioche bun and the strawberry rhubarb brioche bun with chamomile cream and a poppyseed crumble. Sooo yeah, hanging up my apron and just going here when I need baked goods! There are still things I want to try like their sesame banana bread and miso brown butter cookie. Be prepared for a long line when you go, but rest assured, it moves quickly.

Loved the lineup of baked goods here! Everything was beautiful, creative, and truly unique for Milwaukee. If it's in Chicago there would be a line haha. My picky toddler loved the miso chocolate cookie. The bakery itself is super cute, and we only waited about 5 minutes for our order on a Saturday at 10am--not bad at all. There's some indoor seating and a shared patio space (from the old Crossroads Collective), which makes it a nice spot to hang out, too.

Love when new spots open up in Milwaukee and I was so glad a friend asked me to check out Poppy Bakery with her! Everything was so good and flavorful and felt homemade. I loved the open kitchen concept and being able to see into the baking area and seeing the ladies at work! The coffee cake was moist and flavorful and my sisters brownie was super dense and delicious and my friend's pastries were incredible as well! This focaccia bread was to die for. I dream about it and will be back for it. The place has little seating but with the patio/outdoor space outside it is totally okay! I will be back again for that focaccia.

I love that we have this bakery in town now. I went over the summer when it first opened and have been back multiple times since. The staff is great, parking isn't, and seating is limited. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the treats I've picked up. Some of my friends and family's favorites are the coffee cake, cinnamon roll, brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and any of the brioche flavors they've come up with. I'd definitely recommend a visit!!

Just went for the first time around 9:30am Saturday. I figured it was best to go early before they run out possibly? There was a line but we made our way through quickly. I'm happy the cat cafe was repurposed and the design of the space works really well for a bakery! Excited to see what they offer in the future. Currently hours are limited to Saturday and Sunday but they have plans to expand that in the future. So we chose 4 items to try today but will definitely be back for other items like the biscuits and brownies! The owner was working the register at the moment and was very friendly. Here's what we tried, all were delicious and fresh tasting. -Sour Cream Coffee Cafe -Strawberry Rhubarb Brioche Bun (our favorite of the four!) seasonal -Sesame Banana Bread -Raspberry Rhubarb Bostock (seasonal) Happy to live close to this bakery and look forward to trying more things soon!

Love love love! I've actually never had their pastries before coming to their storefront so everything was a nice surprise! I love the rustic vibes, a few tables and chairs inside but the alley has some nice outdoor seating available. Everything we got was 1) too pretty to eat but also 2) so good. Their brioche was soft and pillowy, I liked their seasonal pastries (had the rhubarb), and just everyone was so sweet and welcoming. I can't wait to frequent this place!

Super delicious za'atar focaccia and cool vibe. They were out of most of the baked goods after 12pm so make sure you get there early! Open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The freshest baked goods! We had a hard time deciding which ones to get so we tried so many and they have their regulars but seasonals as well. They know how to perfect their bread in different items and the level of sweetness too is perfectly made and not overbearing. Sweet sweet staff too! Minimal indoor seating but if the weather is nice they have good outdoor seating

Service was outstanding, extremely friendly and attentive. I hadn't been to their new building yet…read moreand was pleasantly surprised to see some really cool retro pictures, hand stitched artwork, and classic wallpaper. It's a fun space and felt very welcoming. The chilaquiles were fantastic! They make their own hot sauce in house that was a good addition to the dish, along with chorizo. Highly recommend this one. It was also a huge portion and ended up feeding me for two meals. Make sure you get here early to avoid the extremely long lines; we planned to be there right when it opened and by the time we left, there were already people having to wait outside. Worth the wait though!

Huh. I've heard good things about Honeypie and I'm confused now. I tried to get brunch with my…read morefamily at another area spot, but the wait was too long so we opted to try Honeypie. We reviewed the menu while we waiting for seating, which took far longer than we wanted, more than 30 minutes standing in the cramped lobby area with a bunch of other people. Hats off to their host for being friendly and even a little entertaining and I like that you can order coffee at the register area and drink it while you wait. Too bad you can't get a cocktail out there. The menu sounded great and we were ravenous so we were excited to order. By the time we were seated we were limited to about 40 minutes to get to a ticketed event, all in. I told that to our waitress so she could pace the meal accordingly. While I understand that she can't control the kitchen time, I don't think she showed any expediency or attention to my statement. Spoiler alert - we were late. Two of us ordered the biscuits to start with jam. I was happy to try them and they were good. My coffee based martini hit the spot, but it was spilled a little when it hit the table and our server didn't say anything or wipe it off. My mom liked her bloody Mary and it was decent. When our food came I was immediately disappointed by the appearance. My chilaquiles looked like they had sat under a heat lamp for ages - the egg was dried and over firm. My chips were spicy, but 100% soggy and nasty. My black beans were - meh. Not a good dish overall. My mom actually didn't find fault with her Honeypie Benedict. I tried the hollandaise and it was fine. My cousin did not enjoy her Hopple Popple skillet at all. (Potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, mushroom, bell pepper, cheddar, two scrambled farm eggs) She found it difficult to find any egg, as it was apparently shrunk into tiny bits. The potatoes were like fries and it was overall bland. Not a winner. We certainly won't be back. The dishes don't live up to the interesting descriptions of them and the hype seems to be from an earlier, better time for this restaurant.
