Poppa Burger is an Iconic Houston landmark! When driving up, you notice that it looks like a typical dive! A trailer with the menu on a board outside a huge overhang with a lot of picnic table underneath. Great music playing is just an added bonus! Now, on to the main event! The Food!! It is delicious!! We got the burgers and fries! Delicious!! It's just a a simple burger with fresh toppings! The bun is soft and the burger is hot and fresh with crispy lettuce and tomatoes! The fries are hot and crispy!! There are so many menu items! Take a look at the pic I took! We are going back now to pick up some lunch!! Mmmm!!

I like it when they call me big poppa

There's a song about this place and about my little cat Starlight, it's by Madonna, it's called Poppa Burger Don't Preach, and it goes like this. Poppa Burger I know you're going to be upset 'Cause I brought Starlight, my little girl But you should know by now She's just a baby I always taught her right from wrong She needs your fish, said daddy give me some She may be young at heart But I know that she's purring This is the burger I told her all about The one I said she couldn't do without But she's made an awful mess All over your table, pleeeeeease Poppa don't preach, your table is all furry Poppa don't preach, Starlight just took a pee But I made up my mind, I'm feeding my baby.... Ooh, I'm gonna feed my fur baby, mmm Barbi says that she's going to marry me We can raise a kitten family Maybe we'll be all right, if we drink lots of Boba But my friends keep telling me to give her up Saying she's a stripper and a total sl** What they don't understand is, that's why I love her (And I make her look like a saint) Poppa don't preach, Barbi's super deep Poppa Yu don't preach, Starlight's made my food furry And she's marking your counter, and, she shed in your lobby Ooh, she shed all over your lobby Oooh, ohhhh I have to be completely honest and say that I wasn't very impressed by this burger shop, and I wanted to be, because there are some surprisingly good burger shops here in Houston and I hoped this would be one of them, but honestly for me this isn't one of them and it doesn't really do it for me. But having said that I like the late-night vibe and I like some of the service here, not so much all the homeless visitors and iffy moments though, and it is open extremely late and the products aren't bad, they just aren't my favourite. But I think it's important to recognize that just because I don't like a place as much as I wanted to, doesn't take away from the fact that they're serving food late night, and doesn't take away from the fact that they're family owned in a world full of chains, and it doesn't take away from the fact that it's been here a long time and it brought a lot of late-night delight to a community which just doesn't have a lot of late-night foods. And they deal with a lot of problems such as the homeless and crime in this neighbourhood, and they deal with them well, and are brave in the face of that, and what's more they take care of the neighbouring Stray Cats (not sure why that got capitalized), and keep their prices low. And in times like covid, businesses like this need more help than ever, and I find it pretty shameful to read some people's treatment of businesses and their reasoning on why they're going to go around giving bad ratings to little places like this, which is why, for a place which I personally am not really into, I'm still definitely giving 4 stars. And I like it when they call this place Big Poppa. So throw your buns in the ayer, if you like your burger ray-er. Like, with blood dripping out of it?

Passed by this place to many times and finally stopped by and it did not disappoint. I got a bacon cheeseburger add a fried egg and fries ! The bacon was well done and the burger was sooo good. Highly recommended

This is literally a hole in the wall. Felt a little sketch visiting because of the location but the pricing is so unbelievably reasonable and it's worth a try. The burgers and fries and definitely from a big box store but hey for the price it's all good to get a quick and cheap meal. They serve breakfast and are open 24 hours. Parking is located in the back and they have seating outside if you choose to eat there.

    Lahhhtoria ..

This is unacceptable! There's no way my patty should be smaller than my bun as if it's a sausage patty. Then all my other garments are all over the burger.

Overall, I didn't like the burger but it was fresh and the fries were hot so I'm giving 4/5 stars. This may be the place for you if you aren't looking for a homemade burger. You can tell it is not a home made burger, but it's good for the price point! Lady that checked me out wasn't very welcoming so another reason for the down vote. For the price I think everyone should at least try it once.

The food was to be expected. No frills. Just kinda dive/hole in the wall food. But I liked it! My two stars was for the service. The young order taker was so rude to me, rushing me. No personality. Just very "I don't want to take your order" tone in his voice. I thought maybe it's just a rough night or maybe I remind him of someone. Later I witnessed two older gentleman who were so kind and patient with him yet he also barked orders back to when and was especially rude. Now the opposite was the pickup lady who was nice and friendly. I didn't enjoy my experience because of this young man.

This place is a houston STAPLE especially after a night out. Everything is so cheaply priced and it's very affordable. The menu is huge from burgers, to ice cream, to sea food. Great place to go if you want a light bite or a huge feast and either way you won't spend more than $10. love poppas!

However, I haven't found myself wanting to come back even though I drive past this area pretty frequently. If I did come back, I'd probably just order the same flavor again because it was that good. The Zeppelin is very filling though and kept me good for 2 meals, I just think nothing else on the menu appealed to me (other than the Spicy Tejano) enough to steer away from my go-to sandwich/bowl places if the craving for that type of food ever came. The staff were super friendly though and parking wasn't terrible. Leaf & Grain is the spot to satisfy those cravings. This West University location is easy to find and it located on a corner of a large shopping strip. Parking is plentiful. Inside is spacious and is warm and inviting with lots of seating. Counter service is how they run business and they do it well with a great customer service. As I'm sure you've guessed from their name, they specialize in salads and grain bowls. The menu is not big by any means. A little more variety would be great. Both the salad and grain bowl categories have about 3 or 4 options each. They also have 3 plate options as well with chicken or seafood. If you're in the mood for a sandwich they have a few of those options as well. My eyes locked in on one of their seasonal warm bowls. In the summer months, they have cooler, cold options. My eyes locked in on the Massaman Curry. I'm a sucker for Thai flavors and this bowl was calling out to me. It came with a bed of brown rice, topped with chicken, peppers, onions, cilantro, spinach and topped with a curry sauce. They also gave a chili powder on the side if I wanted to make it spicy along with some peanuts. Yes please! The bowl was presented nicely. I mixed it all together and added a dash of the Thai chili powder. This dish was delicious. Not trying to be funny, but I wasn't expecting that much flavor coming out of a dish from a grain and salad spot. The ingredients were fresh and the curry was so flavorful. I tasted hints of coconut that made it slightly sweet, but it packed some heat to it as well. I loved the contrast in textures as well. I washed it down with a Mango Deck (mango, strawberries, banana, agave and coconut milk) smoothie which was a perfect, refreshing sip to go along with the spicy meal. Overall, I liked this place alot. Sometimes it's nice to have a meal without having a guilty conscience afterwards. I will definitely come back if in the area.
