My girlfriend and I love going here for lunch. The espresso is tasty and strong, and they have non-dairy alternative milks. I always get the buffalo cauliflower for an appetizer. They actually have a decent selection of food for vegans/vegetarians. Not too pricey at all, about $25 a person if you get an appetizer , entree , and a drink. All staff is beyond friendly, and clearly wish to give the customer the best experience. Also, Ive never done this, but I know they offer a "dinner and a movie" package that includes a discounted movie ticket for the Cinema right in the same parking lot. The desserts at Popovers were good. I wouldn't rate them as the best in NH though. The cakes were moist with creamy, sweet frostings. The cookies were my favorite out of all of the desserts we bought to sample. The brownie had too many nuts in it for my liking, and the cupcake was a bit dry. My son and I went to Popovers for a quick dinner before a movie at the nearby theater. The space is appealing and bright. My son gave rave reviews to the chipotle/ham/pork panini. It was pretty small, as was the serving of chips with it, but the flavor got high marks. The pear/Gorgonzola salad had pears poached in red wine, and was delicious - although the grilled chicken I added was chilled, which was not what I was expecting. The only downside to the experience was the service, which was painfully slow. There weren't many diners, but we still reached that "where the heck is our food?" moment. This place is pretty cool! It's basically a waiting room for the theater next door...The bar is great! The appetizers are quite nice. I brought a party of nine in on Sunday morning, four adults and 5 children. We were in the area following a hockey game and looking for a brunch location. The staff at Popovers went above and beyond to make our experience a great one! Although we arrived just after they stopped serving breakfast, their manager and kitchen staff found a way to accommodate our group, firing up delicious chocolate chip pancakes, french toast and other menu items that were off the breakfast menu. I had the breakfast panini (with egg), which was a perfect combination of breakfast sandwich and lunch fare. Obviously, the signature item, the popover is very good - and the little popovers were a huge hit, especially with the hungry hockey players before their meals were served. Overall, I would definitely dine here again without question. One of the members of our party bought a pastry to go - the section of baked goods and cakes is tantalizing. Beautifully decorated and super yummy! The lunch menu was less expensive than I had been lead to believe. A lunch without an appetizer is usually between 10 and 25 dollars for one. I could tell the ingredients they used were fresh. My meal was filling and prepared wonderfully! My only dissatisfaction was the slow service. My waitress seemed to be stressed and rushing to service more tables than should have been required of her. Despite the long wait time, I will deffinatly be returning! read more

Can you say perfection??! I had THE BEST lunch there yesterday. I have celiac so I had avoided eating out because it was too much of a challenge. Either limited gf or bland/boring. This place has a huge variety of choices as well as unbelievable great desserts. The staff was so helpful and accommodating that I didn't feel like I was the "problem" customer. Great place for lunch or a light supper., never had breakfast there. We had clam chowder and tomato bisque, both were phenomenal. Salad was ok, lobster popover were great. Desert was hands down the best around! Service was exceptional as well, they couldn't have been friendlier but not over bearing. My wife and I were extremely impressed with the service, the food and the ambiance of the Epping location. Our waitress was essential to making the entire experience unforgettable. She more than catered to my gluten-free needs and easily encouraged us to try both the chowder and tomato/pepper soups with our dinners - neither disappointed. At mid-afternoon, the place was still hopping - always a good sign. One could not help but notice the manager was not only gracious at seating us, but constantly helped the staff at every level - hard work pays big rewards. After two great visits, it's become the "can't wait" stop-off point for every trip to Maine. The short detour from I-95 is well worth the trip. The toughest decision you make all day might just be zeroing in which one (or two) of the deserts to have boxed "to go". Enjoy! read more

Herb crusted chicken was fabulous, desserts out of this world and excellent service

We were seated immediately and had our pick of seats--either in traditional booths, bar tables at the windows, or outside at cafe tables. Opting for a booth, we were promptly asked for our drink orders, and the coffee quickly arrived in large mugs. The table and booth were clean, and the lighting was good. A funky light fixture overhead is worth a look. Music this morning included Nat King Cole, Bing, and Adele; pleasant and entertaining, yet not too loud to interfere with chat. I ordered two eggs, over easy, crispy bacon, and home fries--quartered small red potatoes, nicely seasoned, soft but not mushy, with crisp edges. The eggs were cooked correctly. Eager to try the eponymous "Popovers" I was quite pleased by the roll's taste and texture. It came with a small container of maple-flavored butter--yummy. The waitress was attentive, appearing in a timely fashion to refill coffee and to check on us. She was friendly and was informative regarding specials. The total bill for two full breakfasts was just $23--a good value. The chefs evidently take pride in their work--each item of food was carefully prepared, tasty, and pleasingly plated. read more

1, 2, 3 Strikes you're out! I first tried Popovers based on great reviews that I heard about the Portsmouth location. My first visit fell short of my expectations but I thought that maybe they were still working out the kinks. On my second visit, my sandwich was made incorrectly and the slice of cake that I ordered had that old refrigerator taste and was dry and no doubt not freshly made. Seriously, the price of a slice of cake it ought to be FRESH; it was simply not worth the price! This week, I reluctantly went back to Popovers because a friend wanted to meet there for dinner. I ordered a breakfast panini which according to the menu has an egg in it. After eating half my panini I realized the egg was missing. I approached the counter with my half eaten panini, there were no other customers at the counter. I counted six employees behind the counter all seemed to do their best to continue their conversations and ignore me. Finally, one employee was polite enough to ask me what I needed. I explained the issue and she apologized and offered to get me the egg. I said OK and sat down. The egg a arrive on dish and it was cold! UGH! How about doing some service recovery by offering to make a fresh panini. If Popovers wants to be a high end eatery they have a long way to go to improve the quality of their food and customer service. I will give the atmosphere an A. With so many other restaurant choices in the area I don't plan to return to Popovers. read more

I have been to Popover's probably 20 times and moving forward I will avoid it. This place has potential to be fantastic, but consistently comes up short. They come up short on menu options, service and prices. When I leave Popover's I am consistently 50 bucks lighter and still hungry. The portions are small and the service has been pretty poor. I can deal with smaller portions if the price reflects the size. The prices here are high and the portions are small. An example is they will charge you for refills on lemonade. I had a manager come by and ask about my visit, I explained the refill on a lemonade was not expected and the salad tasted pretty bad. They seem to care, but unless management makes changes this place will continue to suck. Note to the owners, your portions are small and your prices are high. Either provide better portions and better menu options or drop the prices to reflect the product. Im talking about soup, nearly $6 for a bowl of tomato bisque. $9 for a panini that is paired with like 6 potato chips... Your food is not memorable, the popovers are dry and the prices are high. I hope you are listening because you have potential with your location but you need a serious look at the menu items and price. read more

I have eaten at Popovers in Portsmouth many times and have always had a good experience so was excited to see a new Popovers in Epping. I went for a late lunch on a Sunday so it was not a busy time. I ordered the mini popovers filled with lobster salad. I also ordered a hot chai. It did take quite a while for the chai but I can understand its a new staff and they're still mastering the use of the equipment. My lunch was brought to me promptly and I dug in. The popovers were on a bed of lettuce. I cut into the first one and stabbed a little lettuce with my fork and quickly noticed that the underside of the lettuce had black mushy decomposed lettuce stuck to it. I moved it off to the side of the plate and continued on. I quickly discovered another piece of the same black mush so dug around a bit and there were 5 or 6 pieces like that. I was rather disgusted, it seems like a very basic thing to quality check such a thing in the kitchen. I brought it up to the counter and asked them to get rid of the lettuce and put it on a fresh plate, pointing the problem out to them. They brought me a new plate and included an extra lobster popover which was nice but no one actually seemed embarrassed or overly apologetic about it. If I was the person in the kitchen, I would have been horrified and would have sent profuse apologies to the customer and comped the meal. First impressions are important. That said, I will give them another try once theyve been open for a while and will hope someone from the Portsmouth Popovers will by then instill the same quality standards in Epping that they employ in Portsmouth. read more
