Visited here on a cold dreary morning in June after a concert the night before. We sat at a hightop and our waitress was great. She certainly was busy for a small place but she was also training someone so credit for that. Ordered home fries and a bagel egg cheese with sausage. The sandwich was good, Definitely plenty of cheese and egg! Home fries lukewarm but figured it was due to the side order of fries was still cooking. The side order came out but still lukewarm. Expected better given our server was on them about it. Wish I remembered our servers name, older thin skinny women with glasses (no offense on the terms lol). This is our 6th year coming to Hampton Beach and the first meal we have when we arrive is the Lobster Benny. We were advised that it is not ordered often enough which is why it was removed from the menu. The manager decided to bring it back for the weekend (seafood festival) and we couldn't be happier. This is a waste of money unless you are looking for a good GI cleanse. They finally cleaned it up so that's a plus. Now on to the food. 13.00 for a vegetable omelet w cheese, canned beans that were poorly doctored up and dry toast that had a glob of butter / oil in the center of the toast. I did see on my way out it comes from a bin he has on the back of the grill w a paint brush. The hash was very dry and tasted like the same oil and had obviously sat on the back of the grill way to long. The homefries lacked any flavor ( but didn't taste like the same Grease. Hash had no flavor, poached eggs came out hard, home fries cold and to make matters worse, there was a hair on my plate which I didn't notice till after a few bites. Gross! Biggest reason for this review is the cook's loud reaction downplaying the issue acting like it not being a big deal and giving the waitress a hard time about it when she tried to communicate the issue for other guests. Breakfast was amazing the two mornings we came here. It was convenient because we stayed at the Ashworth and it was attached to the Ashworth. A little pricy but they had very friendly waitresses & the breakfast was good. I got two eggs, toast, bacon and hash browns the first time and the second time got the French toast which was delicious. I would definitely come back- my only gripe would be their a tad over priced! My son got eggs the first day and the second cereal- which was an insane $6-$7 (for a tiny box with milk) lol, that just wasn't right! They were a little to overzealous about cleaning up to quickly when i had to run my son to the restroom. They apologised and quickly made new food up for us to rectify the error. After waiting 20 minutes to be seated (not a big deal sjnce most places had a comparable wait time), the waitress served us pancakes that were raw in the middle. We were at the tail end of a rush so it wasn't like there were so many orders in after us, there was just a mix-up with the order that needed to be corrected. Great breakfast place just a few steps from the beach. Although I've eaten here many times before I noticed I never rated this place. Staff are very professional here. I think this place is owned by the hotel (Ashworth) which may be why staff is a bit better than what you would expect. I only eat breakfast here but every time I've been here food has been great. They have home made hash here with eggs. Can't go wrong with this dish if you like hash. My toast was a bit over buttered. You can tell used a massive laden of melted butter. They really should just give you those little butter packs and let you do it. That wasn't enough to hold me back from devouring it... don't get me wrong.. it wasn't bad, just not the healthiest thing you can do to yourself. We got there early so there was no wait to sit, but we were not greeted by anyone after sitting for 15-20 minutes. When we received our bland looking food, the waitress left again, never to check up on us to see if we needed anything or how the food was. For the price they charge it should be perfect. The ham was large chunks, too big for an omelette. The sausage chunks were warm and gray. Sausage should not be gray, it should be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I believe I found a couple of bacon pieces and a but of cheese. I'll give a - - stars. In short, myself and girls (6) of us were in town for a birthday girls weekend. Next day 4/22/18 went to the Wharfside to breakfast. We went into be seated. Party of 3 was infront of us. At this time 3 of us are at the restaurant the other 3 were parking the car. Denise greeted us and got how many? 6 please, Denise says ok let me check on a table for you because I asked about time. Denise goes back to another lady to ask about the wait and gave the number of people. The woman "DIANE" shook her head and said something to Denise, we could here Denise says ok I'll let them know. "DIANE" says NO I'll tell them. (Mind you there is just 3 of us at the door). "DIANE" comes over and tells us that we would not be able to sit all together because they can't put tables together. (Did I mention we were staying at the ASHWORTH BY THE SEA) this diner is part of the hotel. Different managers though for the hotel and the restaurant. She said we could not be seated together AT ALL! I said to her (remember there is a party of 3 infront of us waiting) So you mean to tell me if ya 3 ladies wanted to be seated we would have to all be seated separately? She point to the room and said yes you would would have to be seated separately. I looked at her baffled as I said to her so the party of 3 can be sat together, but we have to be sat separately? "DIANE" said yes!!!!! WHATTTTTTTT????? Looking around the restaurant families of 4-6 all sat together. I went around to the hotel Entrance and asked to speak to a manager of the hotel. To find that there was NO manager on duty! And the gentleman stated that I could have one call me when one came in at 1pm. IT IS 930am!!! The location, the cleanliness, the staff and the food are all entirely excellent. My boyfriend and I came here this morning before we left Hampton Beach, solely based on the reviews. We were greeted warmly by a chef from an open-kitchen type establishment and were told we could sit anywhere. Windowseat here we come! Dusty, our waitress, greeted us right away with a genuine smile. We ordered a big breakfast and split a short stack of pancakes. The food came to our table in under 10 minutes. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. The pancakes were nothing short of fantastic. To break the sweetness, we ordered waters and Dusty offered it with lemon. We declined, but it was a nice touch. With all the mixed reviews of other places nearby - don't waste your money or time. If you want a great breakfast and service, come here. This experience alone makes me wanna get a room next trip at Ashworth By the Sea; in which we probably will. Bravo, Wharfside - you get 5 stars from me. I'd give more if I could. read more

I have always believed that quality of service trickles down from management. If you get mistreatment from an employee it's because he is mistreated by his manager, and vice versa. At Wharfside everybody treats you well, which makes me believe (and later confirmed) that they are treated well by the owner. The staff always appears impatient and unfriendly, whether you are the only person there, or the place is packed. My experience has been the same with all three visits to this restaurant.
