Nothing fancy at all, dated inside, all kinds of supplies laying around in view or just randomly stored and the staff is pretty rough around the edges. If you're not thick skinned I'd go elsewhere. The lady who took my takeout order seemed annoyed I was even there. Their menu is small and limited in choices. They only had corn and blueberry muffins and they were out of bagels except plain. One of the patrons leaving struck up a great conversation that saved me from the lady. The room was filled with lots of nice people and older folks, you just have to take the surliness of the staff with a smile. It seemed like most of the regulars in the room were able to joke with the staff. Loved the accents too. I just give it an OK because the bagels were skinny and Lenders like, a side of bacon was $5.00 for a few strips and the home fries were just OK. The corn muffin was pretty darn good though. I asked for a side of hot sauce and I had to hunt through some plastic shelving behind me for packets. It made me laugh, but I'm just setting the scene for you. For takeout go elsewhere, but the eat-in diners plates looked pretty good. Eating in may up this old joint to a fourth star. Been going to Hampton for 48 years and this somehow missed me for years. The ladies that work there are amazing. Straight and to the point yes, yet messing with there customers is hilarious. If you are looking for frills with your meal, this isn't the place for you. This is more of a hole in wall spot where the locals tend to hang out and they only accept cash. With that said we walked in and were told to seat where we wanted. We grabbed a booth and we were asked if we wanted coffee. Sure we yelled back and the waitress showed up at our table with a coffee pot, the mugs were already on the table. So was the plastic ware (remember I said NO frills) and napkins, as well as the sugar and butter, she brought some creamer with her. During the week they have lunch specials, however they have reasonable prices and large portions. We each got the number 4, which came with 2 eggs any style, a meat choice, and toast. We also each ordered a muffin. If you made it this far, don't be surprised when your food comes out on styrofoam plates (I said NO FRILLS!), but the food was good, I liked the plum muffin that was heated up and I had lots of laughs just listening to Uda, as she is a straight shooter. I will say that the lady who recommended it called herself a foodie and this is NOT where a foodie would normally send someone as this is stuff that is simple but good with NO FRILLS but will get you full and not break your pockets. A friend of ours recommended this place & we have no disappointments on our 1st visit! As a matter of fact it is now my wife's & mine favorite breakfast place. Nothing fancy here, the menu is simple & basic so don't expect Eggs Benedict. I ordered 2 eggs over medium, home fries, rye toast and ham. My wife ordered the western omelette (fyi: easily enough for 2 people!), home fries and rye toast. All Very Good! Love the atmosphere, a greasy spoon that you can feel at home in. Inexpensive, no frills and large portions. What was considered 2 eggs with my breakfast was more like 4 eggs. They had pumpernickel bread instead of just the usual white or wheat options. When we walked in they were just pulling freshly made muffins out of the oven. Great spot for people watching as it seemed to be filled with locals and not tourists. Our whale watching trip got cancelled due to bad weather so we ended up here for an early lunch. Definitely not an upscale place, but if you're looking for big, hearty breakfast portions at a great price, look no further! Warning: the pancakes are the size of your head and nearly 3/4-inch thick! We got only 2 pancakes instead of 3 and it was still too much to eat. Ute is a character and kept us entertained and also offered us lots of advice on things to see up and down the coast. First time I went to this place, I felt like I went back in time...old school diner / cafe! It doesn't look all fancy or anything, but the food is awesome and the portions HUGE! The staff, especially the owner lady from Germany are very entertaining, just make sure you finish off what's on your plate or Ute will have fun with ya....like threatening to call the local Girl Scouts to finish your meal for ya. No renovations or updates to the decor for decades does NOT make the place homey or charming. Bad coffee served in a styrofoam cup. The bacon and cheese omelet was large, but disgusting. Unseasoned home fries and burnt the rye toast. Butter packets were defective and I couldn't open them. And...the flies. Flies everywhere on the counters on the muffins on peoples food, on me. This place is out of the way from the usual Hampton Beach traffic which was a nice change and seemed to be filled with locals. The food we ordered was delicious and the portions were very large. They will tease you if you order three pancakes which I don't recommend doing since you probably won't be able to finish them! The prices are very reasonable (almost out dated), the food comes out so fast it's incredible (no time to check Facebook on your phone), it's HOT (even the toast is hot with butter melted as it should be, and extremely large portions. The wait staff are very friendly and nice. Ute, the owner and cook is very funny and, well, unique in a good way! There are lots of locals in this place so they are all very comfortable with saying whatever is on their minds - with no apologies! We camped in OOB Maine and booked a all day trip for fishing with Al Gauron. We had two kids with us going on the trip so there was no way we had time to prepare breakfast before our ride down. I looked through Yelp and found this place and it was right at the dock we were departing from. Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you. You walk in and are greeted by the locals in there who make for nice conversation. Grab a seat at the counter and someone is there to wait on you in a second. 6 year old granddaughter eats anything but can never make up her mind. Waitress said they would make her a special pancake. Should have seen her eyes when it arrived and covered her whole plate. The rest of us got omelet meals and they were huge and delicious. None of us could finish them and they gave us to go containers that we took on the fishing trip. Come about noon they made for a good bite to eat. Great place, best people and real good food. Glad we found it. The whole bill was about $32 for basically breakfast and lunch for 4 people. Going back to HB next week and plan to start our day here again. read more
