The lady who was serving us was so nice she always had a smile on her face and she was very polite and respectful. So now that the hype has died down ordering food here is a lot simpler and not as chaotic as it once was when this joint opened two yea rs ago (it was nuts!). Now there are no long lines, no backed up drive thru, and the food has been served hot and fresh. I've tried the shrimp burger, and it was alright, the macaroni and cheese was meh, mardi gras cheesecake was a win until I ate too much and got sick of it, lol. I usually just come here for the cajun fries now, since I don't eat chicken. The hubby gives the chicken tenders two thumbs up, so I take his word that its some good stuff, but the fries are the win for me! They have cool dipping sauce choices. Best Popeyes location in Ottawa by far. The 3 spicy tender with cajun fries and root-beer is so good it's gonna make u wanna leave your family and get a job there just so you can get free samples. I just had one of the worst experiences ever in a fast food chain restaurant. Sunday evening, 6:30 pm, and the place is severely understaffed, so much so that the wait time for orders is bordering on 20 minutes. Nevertheless, I wait in line for almost 15 minutes to place my order, only to be told they have no fries, and no onion rings! The owner (I think), is being downright rude to customers who are rightly agitated about the long wait, and the lack of sides. From what I've heard, this is the normal and I'm not surprised. The wait times for the meal is 10X worse. It took approximately 45 minutes from ordering and waiting for our food. Although the food and overall taste was just as expected, a chubby lady at the counter was taking my order when she forgot what I said, and gave me the 8 pc chicken instead of the family pack version. I told the lady, and she was ferocious at me. I was trying to be nice, but she kept screaming at me and denying it. Honestly the worst customer service I've had from this industry in a while. Also my family and i sat at a table for 4, and it was filthy. There was gum under the tables, and crumbs still there from yesterday (we came at 11:00 on a Monday). The bathroom was filthy and poorly cleaned while have been vandalized from inside the stall in the men's bathroom. It also had a "piss" smell to it. We went in to try Popeye's for the first time. I guess we chose the wrong location. The girl that was serving us was constantly talking over us while we were deciding what we wanted. We tried to tell her we were talking to each other, but then she started to argue and her tone changed drastically. My wife and I turned to walk out, and the girl said loudly "Thank God". I told her not to argue with her customers, and we walked out. I probably should have talked to the manager, but I wouldn't have trusted any food from there after that encounter. So I actually like Popeye's chicken, way before it came to Ottawa, and even in spite of it being saltier and greasier than your average fast food chicken. I even like the biscuit and the cajun fries, even if they too are just as salty and just as greasy. For the Montreal Rd location, we have been twice, and unfortunately there were some major regrets both times. The first time was shortly after the lunch rush, and note that this was still within the first month of their opening. There was a lineup at the cash, as well as for picking up orders. We weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind. The cash line was processed fairly fast, but the order pick-up line, not so much. There were some serious gaps in that assembly line (if there is one), since you could clearly see that there is no lack of chicken waiting to be put into boxes. Customers were being skipped (i.e. numbers called were not in order) and you could see the frustration in customers' faces (us included) as we wondered where the hold up was. In all, it only took 35 minutes for us - from lineup to actually picking up the food. It's definitely a lot longer than what you would expect in fast food, but since Popeye's at that time was still a month old, and considering that customers were complaining with their hour-waits previously; we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Thus, there was a second time, which was a lot later than our first visit. So you would think that this particular location would have had plenty of time to address issues I previously mentioned. But nope. Not one bit. Same mysterious hold-up in the order pick up line. We were actually in a hurry this time (wanted to catch a movie after what was supposedly a quick dinner at Popeyes), so the same 35-40 minute wait for a lot less chicken, was just not acceptable. It took us 5 minutes to pay and 30 minutes to get our order. Right?! Anyway, the food is not that healthy, even though I find it tasty and nostalgic. I'm sure my arteries thank me for swearing off Popeye's. At least at this location! read more

Wow, what is all the hype about? The breading/batter was worse than bland.. Bland would have been better than the putrid taste of the breading on the chicken and shrimp. The fries are so so, but are basically "freezer" fries. The poutine really tasted like store bought st. Hubert poutine gravy in a can with a bit of Cajun seasoning, really nothing to write home about. The choice of dips are all packaged crap. Ordering 3 pieces and fries to go, thigh breast and leg I got two pieces of chicken wing and something unreckognizeable, it was hard to tell. This is very bad because I asked the server if he put in three pieces of chicken and then named them. He said he did. I couldn't see what he put in because he had his back to me when he made up the order which is why I asked. Finally after I got home I tried to phone them. I was directed to an automated machine, because the place had gotten busy in the 30 minutes since I was the only customer. Some people I know recommeded popeyes but what I got was cold food, two of my friends ordered mild and got spicy, one ordered three chicken strips and got one long piece of fried dough with 5 "fingers", shaped like a hand, barely any chicken on there. And the worst of all is that the employees kept fooling around, jumping everywhere and not taking their job seriously. Extremely poor service and I was very dissapointed in my whole experience. This was the first time I've eaten at Popeye's and lets just say I was impressed. I ordered the chicken tenders and the mac and cheese both of which absolutely delivered. I would definitely return and the food was nothing short of five stars however the one complaint I had was the wait in line. I wasn't waiting long to order my food however I did wait 20 minutes to get my food and the organization in getting the food to the customers seemed like an area they could improve on. HORRIBLE service. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I've heard all the hype - and tried Popeye's in the States many times & liked it a lot, so when it came to Ottawa I was really excited to try it out. But when I finally went there, I waited an hour in line at the drive through (mind you, there were only about 10 cars ahead of me). When it finally came my my turn to order, they didn't have ANY chicken burgers, so I settled on chicken drumsticks. Fine. Then I go to order sides. They have NONE except for the potatoes. Then they proceed to tell me they're also out of most of the drinks except two. The staff inside weren't helpful at all and were taking their sweet time, joking amongst each other and chatting on their phones.
